  • Depends on where you are, how big your yard is.

If the maples are sugar maples I would deeply ask you reconsider ripping them out as they don't tolerate road polution in urban areas.

  • I only have 2 trees. So I was hoping to boost my yields in a way that doesnt mean hand pollination or hanging a carcass (which I havent seen any hard evidence works, just some anecdotes).

And I thought if I could propose my idea to others and get them to try it, I might have some alternative methods that are less labor intensive options by the time my trees are ready to bear fruit.

I plan on doing the carrion-flower bed as I think its pretty cool but it might be an easier sell to my gf if it is a proven way to boost fertilazation, on the pawpaws.

  • Is it time for the biweekly stock crash? I wonder if it'll bounce or plummet next week.

Eventually the pump and dump scheme will have to become unsustainable, wouldn't it?

    Pawpaw pollinators

My pawpaws saplings I planted last fall are still alive!

They have started budding leaves. I know I'm a few years away from fruit production but I am curious if anyone has found good ways to attract pollinators outside of rotting meat. Not sure the city would be very excited about that prospect.

I am considering making a native carion flower plant garden near the trees to make area more attractive to pollinators prior to the pawpaws flowering. Was wondering it anyone else had tried that idea. I've found 3 somewhat promising options in my area of Ohio.

These seem to be an especially symbiotic options https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trillium_sessile https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trillium_erectum

And this could be grown if you have a bog garden https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symplocarpus_foetidus

  • Trump is Jonestowning the entire country.

  • I have emailed my congressman this article and asked if he was just a coward. I'm unhopeful for a response.

  • I regularly liberate my neighbors tree of their mulberries. They're not eating them, they think I'm crazy.

It's a white mulberry though. It is unknown if the birds will deny me a red mulberry. I'm not too worried about it.

  • I have decided to attempt to convince them of 12 trees. I am planning to omit that they bear fruit unless asked. There are some oaks I can plant the pawpaws north of and can likely avoid needing to artificially shade them. And some sunny spots more that 100ft from any damagable property for the Black Cherries.

I found a local native plant nursery, so I have emailed seeking prices and availibility of these plants.

I am most unsure of the staghorn sumac due to their structural fragility, and thicket forming habits. But I may guerilla plant it in a recently cleared homeless encampment near my house to give them more cover next time they move in.

Morus Rubra (Red Mulberry) 2 female (known males in the neighborhood)

    Asmina Triloba (PawPaw) 2 trees

Rhus typhina (Staghorn Sumac) 2 trees

Prunus Serotina (Black Cherry) 2 trees

Diospyros virginiana (American Persimmon) 1 female 1 male

Prunus Americana (American Plum) 2 trees

  • There's a nicely gladed park near me that guerilla planting probably wouldnt work in, but I am considering trying to get official permission to plant some trees in.

  • I ended up with 2 pawpaw saplings, and a bunch of berry bushes. At this point I'm out of space for any more trees and probably anything that doesnt climb. Im thinking of filling out my fences with milkweed and/or grapes.

  • I'm in the process of rebuilding my gut biome, I just got off a serious anti-biotic regiment.

I eat plenty of whole fruits and vegatables and maybe 1 hamburger a week. And no other red meat.

I'll probably be fine in a week or two, but thanks for the advice.

    Inspired by a real story

  • Mr. Internet Explorer over here

  • I have a somewhat hot take.

The racists want to destroy H1-B visas, the rich (slavers) like H1-B as is, and neither is willing to help fix H1-B visas.

Slavery is easily the worst outcome. It might be worth siding with the racists to defeat the slavers and drive a wedge in their coalition.

  • This isnt technically a present, but my girlfriend stored a christmas present in the loft of the garage over my car. She accidentally dropped it while getting it down to give it to me and put a ski through my windshield.

  • How long until the AI starts trying to sext the children, that seems to be a common theme across every article I read about AI and chikdren after its been running for a few months.

  • It thinks it's time we do our own Vandalism campaign similar to their stupid Biden I did that stickers. It clearly worked despite it being braindead.

Should I be concerned that Duo is coming for me?

  • This is me with no degree. The world sucks and me participating in it just seems to draw the attention of people who hate my desire for a nicer one.

Whether it's doing something about global warming, plastics, deforestation, and car dependency. I'm ready to build a log cabin deep in some Michigan backwoods and grow my own food.

  • Yeah, it's precisely why I stopped using every social media except the fediverse. It was toxic to my mental health.

I feel safe assuming it's been similarly toxic to everyone else's, just some people haven't zeroed in on that being the problem.

  • I'm not sure how this is satire. This describes a plausibly real person.

    Southwest Ohio Native Fruit Garden

I'm currently hunting down pawpaw trees, Blueberry bushes, black raspberry, and other native fruits for my garden.

    Looking for suggestions.

I looked into black cherries, but they get too large and too easily wind damaged for the proximity I'd have to plant them to my house.

    Falling Object?

I have no photos or videos, but I was on Topsail Island on vacation on June 4th around 11pm, where I saw a decently bright moving object erupt with a huge v-shaped tail for atleast 30 seconds. The tail was a faint green color. It fell from the eastern sky into the northeastern sky.

Google has been particularly unhelpful. Was wondering if you fine folks had any idea. I'm assuming space debris. But I cant find any other reports of anyone seeing it.
