  • Agree, a democracy needs a competent opposition to keep government accountable, regardless of which side is in power. I hope the libs choose someone more centrist and less thug for the next leader. I feel like their party has become stacked with more extreme right wingers over the last decade so probably unlikely.

  • No waiting needed then! What an embarrassment for their campaign, leader looses his seat. Hopefully they will take a serious look at the direction the party has gone in and realise it’s not what Australia wants.

  • Well it’s done. I didn’t have to wait as long as I thought for the result. I was thinking Labour would win, but thought it would be a narrower result. I can rest easy tonight, and hopefully wake up to news Dutton has lost his seat.

  • And her phone ping in locations that deathcaps grow, but she says she doesn’t forage for mushrooms. And she served her own meal to herself on a different coloured plate to the others. So many coincidences!

  • We have a gas stove so I guess I could cook, and use candles for light, but no heating or fridge. Would need to eat boiled rice and ration what little canned items I have until power is restored. Rice with tuna and canned peaches?

  • Had planned to do a bit of garden work this afternoon, bit of leaf sweeping and fill up the green bin. It started to drizzle as soon as I started, so I went inside and made a coffee. I will obey the will of the universe and have an indoors afternoon instead.

  • Its a strange contrast. A fast train to major regional towns would be amazing, who wouldn’t want that? Sounds great. But the Trump part of trumpets is the real agenda. I’m pretty sure they won’t get enough votes to get a lower house seat. Even though the ads are annoying I’m kinda happy Clive is wasting his money and is gonna be disappointed on election day.

  • Good news flash! The daschund called Valerie that was lost on kangaroo island for over 500 days has been found! Little Valerie defied all expectations and has survived in the wild for all that time, what a champ. She will now be reunited with her owners.

  • I’m horrified by this. Prescribed medication without a starting dose, follow up appointments? Advice on what upper limit is?Told to ‘figure it out’? What the hell?! Is this normal for adhd or was it just a shit doctor? It sounds like medical incompetence to me, and you’re just lucky things didn’t end up worse. I’m glad you have found balance now, but I would be furious.

  • Friend coming over tonight for dinner, was an spur of the moment decision so now I have to wait for shops to open to get some supplies. Am also part of the DT washing day gang, have a load on. Panic house tidy is also in the works.

  • Accidentally clicked on an nutter antivax conspiracy facebook link sent by a cooker inlaw. RIP my phone from whatever the algorithms serve me for the next 3 months. What level of exorcism do I need to decontaminate my phone?

    Rat control

This year I grew tomatoes, and found rats are stealing them. I am certain it’s rats because I have seen them. Have tried netting the tomato plants, but rats found ways in. Called an exterminator to bait in the roof and under house. Feel ambivalent about it, because if a predator bird takes an affected rat it may get ill. But I’m located deep in suburbia and have never seen an owl or eagle so I think it’s unlikely. Didn’t work though, still have rats. Have given up on the tomatoes, plants are destroyed. What are your strategies for ridding yourself of ratty pestilences?
