  • I heard that Lemmy developers have extremist political views, isn't that a risk?

Lemmy is open source and open licensed (should check). If the original developers do anything crazy, anyone can "fork" the project, effectively making their own version without the crazy changes.

    Or something like that.

  • I'm disappointed that Lemmy feels the need to downvote such a mild differing opinion that doesn't even conflict with your own.

All these things can be true. Diagnosis, treatment, and recognition are all much better; we agree there.

  • I really do think autism and cancer have gotten much more common. And it's very likely something is causing it.

    Not vaccines. Vaccines are fine.

Could be plastic. Could be pfas (forever chemicals). Could be lots of things, or a combination. But there's most likely an environmental cause rather than genetic or just an increase in diagnosis. (Though the increase in diagnosis and recognition is also real.)

  • The problem is that this happens within normal spec. He explains it in the video.

So you're probably fine towing at the rated limit... as long as you stay on flat ground. As soon as you crest a hill, all that weight becomes vertical for a few seconds.

Additionally, aluminum stresses over time, like bending a piece of plastic. The first time you do it, it might be fine. The tenth time it might not.

The Cybertruck is not for serious towing.

  • I agree that the grift most likely came after the actions were decided. The guy in charge is absolutely a moron that acts solely on whims. It's confusing because there are at least a couple people around with the grift agenda or their own plans that are feeding him ideas. So sometimes he uses a smart idea or he mixes what would have been a smart plan with something idiotic and/or some grift.

It's why so many people are willing to kiss his ass. Because if you do it at the right time and you're lucky, you get temporary control of the US government.

Why is one person consistently posting here, suddenly, over the last month when this community had less than 3 posts previous to this month?

[email protected] has been active for two years, even though it's been dormant in the off season.

Why would you rather split this struggling community into two rather than build something together?

Moderation Policy Change - Respectful Dissent

There will be a new announcement soon to clarify.

Communities should not be overly moderated in order to enforce a specific narrative. Respectful disagreement should be allowed in a smaller proportion to the established narrative.

Humans are naturally inclined to believe a single narrative when they're only presented with a single narrative. That's the basis of how fiction works. You can't tell someone a story if they're questioning every paragraph. However, a well placed sentence questioning that narrative gives the reader the option to chose. They're no longer in a story being told by one author, and they're free to choose the narrative that makes sense to them, even if one narrative is being pushed much more heavily than the other.

~~Unfortunately, some malicious actors are hijacking this natural tendency to be invested in fiction, and they're using it to create absurd, cult-like trends in non-fiction. They're using this for various nefarious ends, to turn us again

Biden to block oil drilling across 625 million acres of U.S. waters

President Joe Biden will move Monday to block all future oil and gas drilling across more than 625 million acres of federal waters — equivalent to nearly a quarter of the total land area of the United States, according to two people briefed on the decision who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the announcement is not yet public.

The action underscores how Biden is racing to cement his legacy on climate change and conservation in his last weeks in office. President-elect Donald Trump, who has described his energy policy as “drill, baby, drill,” is likely to work with congressional Republicans to challenge the decision.

Biden will issue two memorandums that prohibit future federal oil and gas leasing across large swaths of the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, the eastern Gulf of Mexico and the Northern Bering Sea in Alaska, the two people said. The oil and gas industry has long prized the eastern Gulf of Mexico in particular, viewing the area as a key part of its offshore
