What secret music do I hearUpon the drums of my ear

What great pleasure I feelI come from nowhere and I shall returnBecause of you people I will fleeI see my late identity burn

My OG accountMy recent account

  • Yeah, this guy could be some sort of maga caricature. He's got it all. Religious, transphobic (and probably general bigot), conspiracy theorist, pulling absolutely wild nonsense from his asshole and treating it like fact, should probably be considered a symptom of a mental health pandemic.

  • In my experience, bigots are basically NEVER just bigots about one thing, they're more like conformist supremacists. I highly doubt there is a single terf that isn't also racist or homophobic or one of these people that generally criticize and have something mean to say about everyone they see, particularly people that don't conform to whatever their culture or religion is.

  • Yeah, Bruce Wayne is an eccentric rich guy in a city full of eccentric rich people up to their own shenanigans. And depending on the timeline or continuity, he doesn't even run his own company most of the time, so wouldn't necessarily be in the public eye all the time.

For Clark Kent, I've always loved the idea of certain key figures in the Daily Planet figuring it out themselves but keeping it to themselves. In the new movie, I very much got the impression that Perry White and Jimmy Olsen know. And IMO, ever since Lois figured it out herself in My Adventures with Superman, that's the way it always should be from now and the versions where Superman keeps the secret for years and years aren't the same now.

For me, the ones where it gets difficult to justify their secret identities remaining intact for long are characters like Static or Spider-Man that still go to school and live with their parents / guardians, and regularly slip away during trouble to regularly rescue their friends and family as their superhero selves.

  • Depends on a few things, including the viewpoint in question.

And my patience at a particular time because I'm not 18 and just discovering the world anymore and a lot of shit is the same old shit, even if it's had a ribbon tied around it.

Some things that I'm more or less out of patience with are bigotry, right wing conservative conformists and supremacists, and monotheism. But I'm open to discussing most other things.

I'd be more inclined to 'meet in the middle' politically if 'politics' were about say how taxes should be spent, and not about who should have more or less human rights than who.

  • Ok? This is actually now a different conversation because someone deciding that they don't want to spend time with you or be in your company is not censorship, you fucking baby. No one owes you their attention or time. Or a 'debate' whenever you feel like it. And expecting, for example, trans people in a trans space to sit at the fucking table and sing kumbaya with people who think they are subhuman is just insane.

Also, who is the "they" that is censoring you? I've been on Facebook quite a lot over this last year and my feed is full of people talking about genocide. And feminist pages that don't shy away from subjects like rape. In fact, here we are using these words right now, waiting for the man in black to come and make it disappear.

Unless you're making a habit of going into spaces that specifically don't want these topics and doing it anyway? In which case, you're the asshole. Which would make you just like a maga that gets banned from a queer page for using slurs, then acts like their rights are being infringed because of it.

  • That sounds great, I could do that. There's no reason you can't still 'sleep over' or even spend the week or practically live together anyway. As long as each person still has their space to retreat to (without anyone getting upset about it) and no one is left feeling trapped in their own life.

Even if you lived in the house, because let's face it times are tough, at the very least seperate bedrooms are a must.

  • Pretty much same. At this point I'm not sure if the idea of a relationship even appeals to me anymore. Sharing a bed and cupboard and your general space 24/7 also frightens me a bit at this point.

I think that if I did start dating or whatever again, the idea of relationship anarchy appeals to me these days. The part about keeping expectations and feelings of ownership in check. And respecting that other people are individuals with their own lives.

  • Yay I'll pack the molotovs! A picnic by the fire light of the burning patriarchy sounds fantastic!

  • Nah that's brilliant too and I 100% support it.

  • Here's more of the saga of their changing headline:

And a response by Pizza Cake comics lol:

  • Whether you like it or not, its censorship. Ppl with opposite political views silencing eachother creating echo chambers of only ppl who align with them politically.

Personally I don't buy this one as a problem. Pre social media, anarchists weren't sitting around a table sipping tea with nazis, alt people didn't have to put up with fkn jocks making the same comments about dyed hair and piercings that grandpa has been making since 1976 daily, if you want to the club and spent your time insulting all the regulars and staff and owner, you'd get your ass kicked out to the curb by the bouncers.

I think the problem is a certain crowd acting like they should have the right to just barge into whatever spaces they want and say whatever they want without any consequences. Life was never like that. And just because you're free to speak, doesn't mean that everyone should be forced to listen whether they want to or not.

Sometimes people who believe in jewish space lazers just need to be treated like the deranged fucking clowns that they are and not be given a seat at the table. The world would probably be so much better if these people would go back to whatever fucking holes they crawled out of.

Edit: I'm also going to start assuming that people who think the internet used to be this place where bigots could run wild saying the N word are all 12 years old. Because forum sites pre social media were iron fisted.

  • I think that not necessarily everything in life is a big buddhist style learning moment and sometimes we really do just dig our own holes. And I mean, there's nothing to say that the person in this simplistic cartoon strip didn't learn anything here. Maybe sometimes the lesson is just that if you touch the hot plate on a stove, you'll get burnt.

Other bigger lessons in life probably look a bit different to this.

  • For the person on the left hand side, the only matches I can find seem to be marketing related, or it's a stock image. The person on the right hand side is from an art piece by someone named Billy Norrby: https://www.billynorrby.com/

  • I did consider !womensstuff@piefed.blahaj.zone but there's a nice social vibe there. And while I might post a relevant meme there some time in the future, I wouldn't want to see the place flooded with them.

Didn't consider !femcelmemes@lemmy.blahaj.zone, I'll see if the meme fits the vibe there in future.

  • How does an occasional music post around here sound? I don't want to promise weekly or monthly or even that I'll start right now but I've been listening to a lot of new (to me) music, particularly focussing on music with a woman's voice (alternative / punk / metal to be specific). I'm also starting to see some pretty cool up and comers in my feeds. Itching to start sharing with people who are actually interested. Does this interest people around here?

A few months ago (on my original Blåhaj account), I posted elsewhere asking for suggestions on punk and heavy music with female vocalists. This is ended up starting a ball rolling for me, a new longer term fixation to keep me going for a few years in between the little obsessions lol.

Originally I was planning on doing on doing a post or two with a master list for people to refer to based on genre etc. I'd still like to do that but the more I discover and the more rabbit holes I go down, the longer term that idea is becoming. I also tend to get stuck on and obsessed with one or two bands or artists for a while, so it's going to take time to really get through everything.

  • I'm honestly not too sure where else to post this kind of content. 'Witches vs Patriarchy' does seem like it should be more witchy content than this. But there's no plethora of 'blatant misogyny' and 'men and females' type communities here like Reddit. And !feminism@beehaw.org seems like it's more for articles and things of actual substance than memes or screenshots.

    • My two older sisters, repeatedly throughout my life and in multiple ways.
    • Various punk rockers for steering me away from potentially ending up like a stereotypical white South African always aligned with the worst of world politics like they do it on purpose.
    • And more recently, I'm gonna be corny and sentimental and say you and everyone here for kindly accepting me around.
    • And the Blåhaj community in general for being the best examples of open minded and awesome human beings while I was looking for myself.
