  • No but it makes you a clown that's really really really proud of their junior school biology knowledge. Yes, we all know biological sex is real, you're not a fucking genius with hidden knowledge. So if you feel the need to constantly bring it up, it's most likely in bad faith and to display your absolute ignorance of anything that requires more than 5th grade reading comprehension.

    Sex =/= gender. Psychology and sociology and cultures that make arbitrary bullshit rules are not some "woke librul" plot to turn the frogs gay. The world is bigger than your white christian home town with a population of 200. You are not the "standard" or the "norm", you're just ignorant of the fact that other people who do things differently exist.

    The same people that feel the need to go around lecturing other grown fucking adults about what they learnt in biology class when they were 8 years old, are the same people that are adamant that blue is for boys and pink is for girls and that everyone must wear a particular shape of clothing based on their genitals. That's not biology, that's fucking culture.

    The funniest thing about all of this. Is that the people who want to mansplain basic biology to everyone are the most obsessed with gender by a long fucking shot. And the biggest fucking babies and nazis about it. Assigning themselves cute little labels like "alpha" and following clown fucking rules that make a 'man', all for the sake of their gender affirming care.

    Then they have the god damn fucking nerve to go around lecturing people because they're too fucking stupid to be any level of self aware, and they're damn proud of that too.

  • Yeah South Africa is unfortunately generally socially conservative. And susceptible to magaland conspiracies. And I hate to sound like I have one issue but very patriarchal, whether you're Afrikaner or Zulu. So I'd say knee deep in the manosphere shit too, which goes hand in hand with magaland conspiracies anyway.

    One example of the gender divide is currently for the month of November, a group called 'Women for Change' are running a social media campaign where people are changing their profile pics purple, and are planning a general strike in about a week, to draw attention to the fact that a woman is buried in South Africa every 2.5 hours, and that rape and femicide are a plague in this country. Seriously, from babies to 99 year old women, none are safe.

    And so of course, certain men responded to this by starting their own bullshit where they're changing their profile pictures green. At first I thought it had maybe something to do with farm murders and men trying to play the victim olympics but it's even scummier and lower than that. They changed their profile pictures green to cry that they're "ATMs" for women. I dunno, I just think that's kinda fucking despicable.

    In fairness, there are (usually white) conservative women in magaland too. But I'm not going to beat around the bush when I say that you don't need a magnifying glass to see how lobsided the demographics are in this regard.

  • I mean, considering that this is a successful meme on two different platforms and that there are multiple comments giving their own examples, I would assume that it's a behaviour that a lot of people come across, regardless of your personal experience.

    Imagine thinking you're being 'replaced' by 153 people. Almost as ludicrous as believing they're putting microchips into vaccines, which South Africans are all over too. It's honestly embarrassing.

    Also, I'm starting to think that a large amount of online trolls that spend their days attacking feminist and queer pages on mainstream social media are god damn fkn white South Africans. I've already seen people mention that they are some of the worst of the worst on Twitter.

  • In neurodivergent circles, I've seen it often pointed out that the reason women tend to be late diagnosed more often than men is that women are usually taught to mask and tiptoe around in society regardless. So it isn't caught as easily. Which very much correlates with everything said in this article.

  • The airport segments of traveling long distance are the worst. Especially if you also have a connecting flight somewhere along the way.

    If I was taking my own stuff to watch, my go to would probably be comic book shit lol. Watchmen is a pretty good one that's a relatively short one season show. Although pretty intense.

    Not too sure of many other short and sweet series though. Apart from maybe new(ish) stuff that I'm gonna assume you've watched, like Fallout or Wednesday or whatever. What about Arcane? Haven't played the game is based on but I thought it was good, and also not 5 seasons long so far.

    Movies are always an option too. These days they seem to be averaging at 2 hours or more. Good time filler without needing further investment.

    I feel that already happened, sadly. This is from a 2015 article. Would've been around the time that people thought the idea of Trump winning the first time around was a joke.

    The inmates are running the asylum now. NOFX's 'The Idiots are Taking Over' plays regularly in my head these days, no joke, when looking at headlines and comments on social media and the general state of it all.

    I noticed that pinned posts are now working! The only difference now compared to a native Lemmy account is that they don't have the thumb tack symbol. Hardly a major issue but thought I would point it out in case it helps.
