  • I randomly noticed today that this instance was updated to v0.19.7. Photos are working as expected now.

  • Resurrecting this ancient conversation because this just came to mind. Also tagging my current account in hopes that it will cause this comment chain to actually federate out to that instance: @SatyrSack@feddit.org

that line's at the 5:31 mark

On your Blu-ray, is this two-part episode actually two separate episodes? On mine (which is bundled as a "complete series" as opposed to being just "season 5"), the two parts are instead combined into one long episode. There is no "To be continued, dummies", "Previously, on 30 Rock", or the credits scene of some clips from previous episodes. Instead, the scene with Liz and Dennis arguing outside ends, then the scene with Liz, Kenneth, and Jack in the elevator begins. The OJ line is therefore around the 26:31 mark.

Both episodes had initially aired on the same day, so my guess is that they had later edited it as two distinct episodes for syndication/streaming, and that that is the cut that had ended up on earlier Blu-ray copies.

Another couple jokes that I know differ in some places, and I am curious about what they are on your copy:

    1. S3E13, "Goodbye, My Friend", 4:30: Does Becca mention Ne-Yo or Chris Brown?
    2. S1E18, "Fireworks", 8:10: Does Tracy bring up his stand-up about using a phone, or does he show his white foot?

On my copy, it is the former for each.

    Rail

  • I would assume a cocaine addict actually wants a high-cocaine rail.

  • They are focusing on the dry part of the term. Using a liquid during the process goes against the dry part.

  • No, the bridge is too well-guarded.

  • But is space (and its resources) truly infinite?

"We make horse buggies and the first Model T just rolled into town."
    "We're dinosaurs..."
"We don't need two metaphors. That's bad writing. Not that it matters."

EDIT: Is that last line there also another "Studio 60 vs. 30 Rock" joke?

  • Apparently most NBC affiliates refused to air it because aside from simply promoting the upcoming fall schedule, it heavily endorsed the then-new streaming service Peacock. They saw that as a potential means of leading viewers away from them.

Friendly reminder that "30 Rock: A One-Time Special" (2020) can be streamed/downloaded/torrented legally from the Internet Archive

I presume it is freely available there because of all the pos-mens and product integortion. It's sort of just one big advertisement disguised as a 30 Rock episode.

On an opposite note, I initially did not know that Bucky Bright was just a fictional character.

I thought Bucky Bright was a real person making a cameo, and that he was just a real good sport about making absurd jokes about his time as an actor. It was not until seeing the announcement of Conway's death in 2019 that I realized Bucky Bright was made up for 30 Rock.

Why are the webcam/microphone switches red when the component is disabled and black when enabled (instead of the other way around)?

It makes more sense to me to have the switches appear as red when the device has the ability to record you. When color is used as an indicator for something, the general convention is that red is negative. Meaning that there is a greater possibility of something going wrong when a red indicator is being displayed. You could argue that "webcam is not working for some reason" is a negative, and that seeing the bright red indicator can bring your attention to the switch as a hint to how to fix the issue. I would argue against that by stating that having a webcam record you when you do not want it to is a much bigger potential negative than the webcam not recording when you do want it to.

    Also:

    • When a traditional video camera displays a red indicator light, that means the camera is recording.
    • On the underside of the Framework 16, the expansion module latches are red when disengaged
