Life imitates art, and the truth is usually stranger than fiction...

Perhaps. I think it is much more likely that Thiel & Musk attempt to wait Trump's death out and then install Vance, which will ultimately be the crescendo that causes large scale civil unrest because everybody fucking hates him.

"Every accusation is an admission" and whatnot...

To be clear, I agree with you. I was being hyperbolic about the "rule forever" part because nothing last forever.
However, I think they are drunk enough on their own power to believe they can outlast all of us, and it remains to be seen, in the short term, whether they are right...

The strategy is really simple, and I don't know why it isn't obvious to everyone. The Republican party will simply refuse to run a candidate in 2028. They will claim that the country is under hostile occupation by Marxists who are attempting to destroy the United States from within and Trump will just refuse to leave office after the mid-terms (if we even make it that far before he declares war & martial law).
They don't need to cancel, manipulate, or legally challenge anything. At that point, it doesn't fucking matter what happens with the election because there is no legal mechanism to enforce the removal of the regime. They are going to dare the courts, the police, and the military to try and forcibly remove them, which we all know will not happen. Then just rule by fiat forever.
The End.

This is 100% a smurf'd account. The girl is Olivia Johnson ASMR on YouTube.

I have no sympathy for any of them, and neither should anyone else. The choices they have made will result in the suffering of millions. Whatever fate they ultimately meet will proportionally be infinitely merciful by comparison. They do not get some special dispensation for being naive.
It is possible to be both immature and abjectly evil. That is, most likely why Musk picked these young men. They have the hallmarks of sociopathic tendencies with the inexperience to be led into a fucking minefield. Here is hoping they trigger some explosions that don't take a billion of us with them.

They will have removed no fault divorce across a number of Republican states within the next four years, and none of those states will be investigating rape allegations inside a legal marriage.

What's up 👋
I think I speak for everyone when I say I definitely hope to see you post more in the future 💣💢💥

Saw you were back, but hadn't had a chance to comment because I've been super busy.
Thought I'd stop by to say I love this picture, and thank you for being a bright spot in an otherwise dark & uncertain world right now.
Keep being awesome 🍓 you're the unofficial 👸 of Lemmy as far as I'm concerned 🙏

They aren't that competent.

Brilliant 👏
Saving for future use.

That seems like a lot of extra work when we could all just die in a nuclear holocaust trying to stop the Democrats from sending more hurricanes.

Committees all the way down. Committee-ception. Right to the depths of Hell.

As always, the perfect combination of class, style, and sex appeal....

Correct. This is why there is essentially zero chance at political reform in this country without large scale violence. Granted, that violence will almost certainly be misdirected, but I think given the actual state of the system it truly is a forgone conclusion that we will see mass civil unrest within the next (~20) years.

I guess I didn't really explain my thought process very effectively from the beginning. That was my fault.

Oh man I'm really sorry to hear that, is the floor doing alright!?

I totally agree that no solution is going to be simple. I think what I envisioned was an inter-state compact where it would make it essentially impossible for medical providers to pull away. If we just use the West Coast as an example, what if Washington, Oregon, and California were to create a public option risk pool that could then be joined by other blue states? That is really the idea that I think is the most sensible, and potentially feasible to implement over time.

Trump leading Biden in all 7 major swing states: Polling

Judge Juan Merchan asked prosecutors and Trump's defense team about a Facebook post that appeared to preview the outcome of the former president's hush money trial.

On Friday, the Washington State Republican Party's convention in Spokane erupted with moments of booing, chanting obscenities, and people turning their backs to the party's own candidates.

Software Developers & Tech Lemmings - I Am A Returning Student Looking to Crowdsource Opinions on What College Program to Undertake (Cross-post from Ask Lemmy)

Greetings fellow Lemmings,
I know this is a community that has a strong backbone in the Software and Technology space. I am a returning student in my mid-30's that is returning to college as a way to pursue a career change. I am looking to crowdsource opinions from experienced tech professionals so I can make good quality, informed decisions about how I move forward with my educational and career goals.
With that being said my question is how would you proceed between the programs I have linked below? I am starting at a STEM focused community college (Bellevue College) in the Pacific Northwest. My long term goal is to either transfer to another four year institution (like UW Bothell) grade permitting, or perhaps finish a four year degree from this institution. This is where your advice comes in, and where I believe I need better outside perspective to make a good decision.

The verdict comes after a dramatic day in court that included the former president storming out of the courtroom during Carroll's closing argument.

Former President Donald Trump must pay writer E. Jean Carroll over $83 million in damages for repeatedly defaming her, a jury found Friday.
The nine-person jury began deliberations in federal court in New York at 1:40 p.m. ET and reached a verdict in just under three hours.
