Profile pic is from Jason Box, depicting a projection of Arctic warming to the year 2100 based on current trends.

He just gave the orders, someone else actually did the crime. If need be they'll take the hit and later get a pardon or something.

Never mind the top, what's up with the words underneath? No one would have their tattoo pics labeled for clarity like that.

Same thing, and I only use Messenger now because Facebook broke Pidgin when they dropped using the standard XMPP protocol. The 3rd party plugin worked for a while, but as far as I know it still has lots of ongoing issues, which is exactly what FB wants. Pidgin was so much better as an app too.

A company would look at this and determine not that LLMs might have something going on that would be bad for long term business. They would see the bigger net dollar amount and figure that they just had to calculate when to "reset" the LLM. It's just another IT problem where the solution isn't to address the problem but to find a workaround that reduces cost while continuing operations.

No one is surprised.

A question is if the task force itself has more power to suggest what is and isn't covered that the health secretary. Who may in the end even get rid of some of those on the task force, since he's destroying everything else. This is not going to end well.

The first manmade plastic (Bakelite) was created in 1907 to replace shellac and keep up with demand. So more than a century, although it's hard to figure out when the real curve of mass plastic waste began to start climbing. Can't be too far from then, once it hit commercial products it was everywhere, and the idea of consumerism and throwaway products wasn't too long after then (thanks, Bernays).

I'm going to take your word for it.
Given how difficult that seems to be to find that kind of visual disturbance in a place like the galactic center where things are moving relatively fast, no way is a lone black hole going to be seen anywhere outside that kind of bee swarm of stars. But there certainly must be a lot of them, no reason to think there aren't.

Right out of MyHouse.wad. I know how this (can) end.

Anything is better than nothing, but when I get a pizza party instead of a raise, it still feels like it could be better. I guess give them yet another chance to show something? How many has it been now?

Sometimes they need a fall guy otherwise the peons start to see a pattern.

Mass bleaching has been monitored throughout the Great Barrier Reef since the 80s. There was certainly bleaching but not at the level seen in the years listed, and look how that frequency changed. I doubt it's because we got better at documenting bleaching effects. The important thing is that bleaching to some degree is normal, but typically the population would have time to recover before the next event, and they would be localized. Large scale and every year doesn't allow recovery.

It's bright super-saturated teal. So now we know teal is "true" green.

Can you imagine how much more powerful it would be if Senate Democrats came together to organize a filibuster relay team that could continuously gum up the Senate until Trump agreed to follow the Supreme Court’s order?
I mean that would be huge. It wouldn't change anything though, Trump wouldn't care. He'd continue on with his Executive Order spree.
Schumer said extraordinary action, not something that should have been happening long ago when it was obvious there was a problem. Grandstanding together isn't going to do much now.

Well that was horribly well done.

Blame the writing and the movie timelines. The Prequels had some top actors in it and every one of them had cringe lines. They can only work with what they're given. He's great in other movies, and I think in many scenes in Star Wars he was good as well, if the writing was.
I don't hate Hayden, I don't even hate the main premise of the movies, I hate how Anakin's life is rushed through and not properly set up for the fall.

I figured it was probably an isolated wearing, and of course kids don't want to be the one who tells on someone.
So he had no real excuse on Star Wars. Not that the early films were less obvious, but there was less to work with and the joke was "the Empire did nothing wrong" to side on the cool side of their tech. But once you pass the point where one of the Dark Side is killing children...and are okay with that not even in a handwaving manner...

I was trying to be nice, as it sounded like I hit a nerve when I was just conversing (literally the community name). You didn't understood my point on my own situation, but we'll just leave this as a total misunderstanding on my replies to avoid any more conflicts.

This is common knowledge by now I think, and yet evidence shows common doesn't mean people remember. If you ship anything, fragile or not, be sure to pack it like it's going to be thrown, dropped, get wet, and stepped on. It's not even that workers in shipping do this (most damage is usually either bad packaging or mechanical damage in the automated parts), but things happen between point A and point B, many of them unavoidable. And I see SO MANY packages that consist of just some thin cardboard with a few pieces of tape, or a plastic bag that's easily torn, or documents/letters that are smaller than the label we put on them(??? That won't get lost :/ )
Pack things like you want to to make it there. Just look at packages you get successfully, and I guarantee on many you'll see marks of the war zone they went through. Now imagine if they had been sent with an old worn out box you found in the garage and threw some tape on and didn't bother putting any protective packing inside because "it'll be fine if it bounces around a bit".

How usable is an old lithium battery with less capacity?
I have an older robot vacuum that has finally shown some age in its battery. The charger will charge for about 15 mins and then gets an error, but it's enough to do a decent vacuuming of the room if I charge then vacuum, then repeat once more. I can't leave it on the charger now due to the error repeating, so basically I run it dead until the next time.
So my question is, can I continue doing this since it works well enough, or is there potential problems/danger with the battery being at less capacity? I could buy a new battery, they aren't terrible in price, but if it works and is safe, why not continue what I'm doing until it completely gives out?
