  • I think anime can be quite good at psychological horror, but yeah visual horror not so much. Like you suggest, I do think the disconnect might simply be too much, although I feel visual novels can be pretty good at it (haven't played any, but that's what I hear).

Makes me wonder, are there any western animations that do good horror?

  • And Yachiyo got the "pretty voice" reward, so maybe the OP will evolve?

    That'd be cool

  • Hmm, I personally don't think I'd call it strongest in the past couple of years, but at least since the last 2 seasons.

  • I currently have quite a busy time, but I think I've finally settled into the new season. There are some pretty strong ones. My favourites this season so far are (still) Apothecary Diaries, Apocalypse Hotel and Shoshimin. The surprise was Catch Me At The Ballpark. I'm also watching Witch Watch, The Shiunji Family Children, LycoReco specials, Zatsutabi, Can A Boy Girl Friendship Survive, Too-Perfect Saint and Gorilla Girl. There are others I want to pick up, but those are on HIDIVE (i.e. not available for me) or Prime (fuck amazon) and I can't be fucked to sail the seven season atm.

I'm also watching Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun. I'm enjoying that one a lot. Fun character interactions.

  • That would make sense yeah

  • Wonder why Vshojo made that decision.

Edit: as I posted this I realized that this can sound sarcastic. It's not. I'm genuinely wondering.

  • Hmm, if this was going to be the final chapter, then why setup the whole soul research thing to search for Emi? Weird chapter to an otherwise really fun and exciting manga.

  • I think I genuinely don't know where this is going. I have suspicions about the arsonist, but that's about it.

Kobato also seems up to something with his girlfriend.

  • I don't think I'd call Apothecary Diaries a fantasy anime. At least, a pseudo historical mystery anime set in ancient China is not what I'd call fantasy.

  • Just scrubbed S1 and now I feel a bit embarassed... Suirei was the one behind many of the incidents in S1... Or at least one of them

  • Interesting! Someone here predicted that eunuch would be Suirei and they were right. Unfortunately I'm still struggling to remember her part in S1... Maybe I'll see if I can find the specific eps for a refresher.

We also seem to get more and more clues about who Shisui really is. More and more seems to point to being Loulan/related to Loulan.

    Poor Maomao and Shisui though...

  • I thought Hatsune Miku was just a character that was created for anime figures and that was it.

I mean, as someone who listens to vocaloid artists every so often, the merch is the real money maker.

  • I mean, they've been known to use Telegram. It wouldn't surprise me if they used Signal too, precisely because of its strong encryption.

  • They've been trying for a long time now unfortunately. Not just the EU, but individual countries too. It has never taken actual form yet, so let's hope it stays that way and vote and act accordingly.

  • This episode seems to have laid a possible foundation for an absolute gut punch later on when Yachiyo finds out the Tanuki family has not been entirely truthful about their... encounter with humans.

Also, damn, what awful guests lol.

Eternity spoiler tags different from other apps (including web UI)

The spoiler tags used in Eternity >!!< don't seem to be compliant with how the majority of Lemmy apps handle spoilers. The web UI for example uses the following:

     undefined

    ::: spoiler spoiler

    :::

It seems most apps follow this (Voyager for example).

This causes spoiler tags made with Eternity to be ineffective, since they don't show up as spoilers and vice versa. This can become quite annoying in communities discussing movies, tv, anime, books, manga etc

Shoko Server not recognizing any anime

I've been ripping my anime bluray collection and wanted to have an easier way to sort it for Jellyfin, so I wanted to try Shoko Server, but it's not recognizing any of my anime. It sees the actual files, but categorizes them all as Unrecognized, making the entire idea of using it for automated sorting pointless. I'm struggling to find guides on this and the documentation is quite lacking. I don't know what I'm wrong. Are there certain rules I need to be following in order for Shoko to hash correctly? Does it hash the name? The actual ripped files?

My folder structure is setup in a way that Jellyfin properly recognizes it (without using the Shoko plugin yet), so like so for example:

     undefined

    - Fate/stay night: ubw (2014)
    ---- Season 01
    ---------- <episode> S01E01
    - Fate/stay night: ubw (2015)
    ---- Season 01
    ---------- you get the idea

Since multi season anime often are separate entries, each season is usually its own main folder (which is one of the reasons I wanted to try Shoko to s
