While your boss may feel safe crossing the boarder you can tell your boss you do not feel safe crossing the boarder, your safety comes first. Under the Canadian Charter of Human Rights and the Labour Board of Canada (I am almost certain I am getting that agency’s name wrong) an employer cannot ask you to do something that you do not feel safe doing when there is risk to your life and safety. It may not statistically hurt you, but there is a non-0% chance that you will not be locked up in jail in the US or disappeared to Al Salvador.

Yes there is a non-0% chance of that you just get picked up and arrested for some BS thing in Canada, but there has yet to be a case of a person disappeared in the past couple of years by the government.

When the pi was setup it was using Quad9’s 9.9.9.9 as I did not know that there was a Canadian version 9.9.9.10, there could be apps that try to get past pihole by going to the pi’s original DNS resolve address so I changed that, and I updated unbound to get the information from CIRA first and then quad9 Canada second.

Being non profit in Canada does mean stuff about their income, Quad9 Canada is a US nonprofit so they are not into looking to sell your data but they are from the US. I do not like my data being seen by others as that is why CIRA is third in the list and Quad9 is forth in the list.

I have moved all of my things off of US cloud things, minus my iPhone and iPad backups off of US servers only because I cannot easily move those backup settings. It would be moved if my phone’s usb port was working correctly but I think I broke it, and I have just not got around to moving my iPad onto my home server yet.

I have unsubscribed from all of my other web services and have setup my home vpn to use pihole and ufw.

I use wireguard now, I decided to cut my subscription to a VPN for when I left my LAN. I tried setting up tailscale but had difficulties getting it to work with my homelab. I am thinking of spreading my homelab across to homes for cloud back up as I have also started using nextcloud rather than any third party clouds.

In the mid 2000’s I was down in Mexico I had my flag on something, I was talking to a person selling hats on the street. We got chatting and he says he would give me a hat for $20 because I am Canadian, when I pulled out a piece of paper with the queen on it the saler said no no $20 US. When I heard that I put the queen away and went to another person selling hats.

I am guessing the person was used to US people putting on our flag to make them look good.

I have 5 bins 1 in my front porch (I have a front and back that opens up to the world) 3 are used for compost 2 are used for planting things then I have a couple flower baskets a hanger thing and a few other pots. The bins I have are probably around 100L I do a lot of gardening, or at least I try my garlic and onions did not come up last season. My potatoes are always small, I can get lots of tomatoes hanging (they are little ones like tiny Tim’s) my lettuce is great, and my peas are beautiful, the few times I have done carrots they have not been that big but yummy. I am trying to think of what else I have grown but there has been a few things over the years.
