I'm Buckminster Burkeswood (I'm also, mr.prol1f1c), and I live in the layer above this one, the part you mistake for déjà vu. I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure.

  • ❤️

  • We like our little harems for sure.

  • Right?! Do I listen to the haters? Or keep on keepin' on...

Ok, I thought about it. I read the loud little complaints, the ones that always show up like they’re doing the world a favor, but then I look back and start to love my evil little self again. Take that story where Walmart has pod hotels for employees, or that guy who sweeps up hair in barbershops so he can make hair-yarn hats for his poor little bald head. Raspberry pi controlled manned missions to the moon...Sigh...

I have realized that I can’t, in good conscience, take those dirty little jewels away from the world! The world already has enough boring people trying to sand everything down until it looks safe and sounds correct. Somebody needs to be an ashtray in a no-smoking world, and yeah, it might as well be me.

I will stay! Now I gotta get back to making comfortable shoes out of recycled mountain dew can metal. :)

  • I appreciate the concern, but nothing about society or Lemmy is going to rise or fall based on what I post. This is just crappy little writing posted to my crappy little community of 3 subscribers. A brief five-minute break from the world. I’m a writer. I write. Some people enjoy it, most don’t. I also do a webcomic called Ashtray Gospel for my web comix community here. Same deal. A few people laugh, plenty others think it’s dumb. No one is required to read any of it, and I think society will be just fine.

It ain’t my job to add quality to society. That’s on you. I’m just here to be rude and add to the mess, and leave if where it lands. Just exactly how I keep my house.

  • Thank you for your hard work, sir. Now about lawns; Miss Hemmings at 602 West as let her grass get way too high, and I'm of half a mind to go mow it myself. Something needs to be done, I say! Will the city support my billing her for my effort since she refuses to mow it herself?!

  • But what you see as satirising the corporations, I see differently, because to me, corporations are the only political players that matter.

Fair point. And it's ok, that we see differently. People have different opinions, different views, different ways of acting on their beliefs. I totally respect that you wouldn't do what I am doing. But I also think that it's ok. I am sure there are many things that you do that I would disagree with. But I wouldn't be mad about it.

I have no ill will toward you, friend. You don't subscribe to my sense of humor, or my outlet. I respect that. You are also free to start your own community on Lemmy and make it exactly the way you want it to be. Even if I disagree with it.

That's what Lemmy is about. It's about letting people do their thing without censorship. That's why we are better than Reddit. You don't have to like my content, but I feel you should respect my right to post it since I'm not supporting hate or any political parties or anything of that negative nature.

  • And again, I think Lemmy has enough room for people like me, if if you don't like it. And if I were actually a troll, I wouldn't just post my articles to my own community. And I'm make them more serious than a guy making mountain dew can armor. So we'll have to agree to disagree.

And I gotta be honest, your graphic is so, so true. Because um, well, I couldn't resist: https://reddthat.com/post/58317046

  • Meh, I updated comment and removed that stuff, since you get the gist of it anyway.

  • Oh that. Meh, that bit probably isn't a long term thing anyway. I have no real feelings on the matter. I'm not really consistent with it anyway.

  • The framing of the stories, the near-plausibility is the point. I am not doing anything different that what the onion started out as. And I make no apologies. Lemmy will not be destroyed because of anything I post. Besides, no one is here anyway, so you are being mad about a little-known, rarely seen comedy show that you despise. How much influence do you think Lemmy has in the real world?! lol

  • And what article has gotten you so riled up? Seriously? You keep saying "strawman," but me having my on opinion isn't a strawman just because you don't take it seriously or don't agree.

Just because there are shitty news orgs our there or propaganda or people believe every they read, or they don't read, or whatever, doesn't mean I have to stop doing what I'm doing. If all art/comedy/perfomance/whatever had to stop just because a few were offended, or because there are bad people out there, then we would have nothing.

That's not strawman. That's my opinion. I respect you for not agreeing, and I respect if you feel the need to block. But I'm not going to stop. I hear you, I just disagree with you. Lemmy won't be destroyed because of what I post. I promise.

  • Friend, you are taking this WAY too seriously. I don't want my responses to rile you up any more than they have, but let's clarify on what you are really mad about? What have I posted that has done any harm. Serious question. Find a story that you think has caused harm and let's discuss it. But really read the article first. And think about why you are really mad.

If ya don't like the meta vibe, you can block. I get that not everyone is on bored. But I've also gotten positive feedback. It's Lemmy. No one is even here. lol

  • I responded in that other thread. I'll repost here:

However, everyone on here knows that the onion is satire

Only because it's well known now. It didn't start out that way. Look up the history of it. They didn't mention they were satire. People slowly found out, then the word got out. But in no way did they start out with wanting you to know the punchline, before the joke landed.

Basically, you’re too good at your job, and in a world where satirists are becoming more reliable journalists than the actual journalists, creating a one-man-band to troll people with shitposts that are nowhere labeled as such is, I believe, damaging to the community of Lemmy.

Thank you, but meh, I think Lemmy has room for me. I mean, there was that story about chinese space agency training prisoners for a space mission by making them take apart and use Radio Shack TRS-80 computers and Atari 800XL. I do feel bad about.

Oh and the dude with armor made from the cans of soda he stole from Walmart. Man, that really put walmart in a poor light. Not cool. You're right.

Think about what you are being upset about. Go and read the stories in this forum. What is there to be mad about exactly? Also some are in on the joke and don't mind. You mind, obviously. But come one man, this is the thing you are going to be mad about? In the world today? Mad about a story about someone who knits hats out of hair he takes from hair salons.

    Brah, come on now...

  • since you can’t be bothered.

Thank you for that, and thank you for looking out for Amazon. They care so much about their workers and their communities, I would hate to think that my story would put them in a bad light. What a horrible, terrible oversight on my part.

  • I'm so so sorry. I definitely don't want anyone to be upset that there may not be thousands of Windows 95 mini-CD's laying out on the road. I feel just horrible about it. Really. Like, for real.
