  • Me, still using my unscathed 2011 MacBook Pro

I’m astounded by how shittily people treat their stuff. My tools are also pristine. Just because something is mechanical doesn’t mean it has to be dirty and shitty.

  • Ugh I don’t wanna toot my own horn (but I will)

When I’m working from home, I’m legitimately in bed for 80+% of the time rotting and watching dumb shit.

On an average day, I quantifiably do half the work of my department. We have seven people. Two of them do nothing, one does almost nothing, and two others do good work.

  • Computer classes were AWESOME when we’re on Windows XP and they just taught basic computer skills and typing. I had a war for the desktop background with a kid from another class. They always switched it to something they wanted, but it was MY station, dangit!

…so I edited the registry to remove the background tab from display settings. I WIN!

  • Oh dear my comment was in jest, I’m sorry. I call myself gay often but really I’m bi. I’m an old millennial, and grew up when when being tagged as “gay” was a social death sentence. Luckily, I flew under the radar until it became socially unacceptable here to dunk on queer folk. Bow basically my entire friend group is gay, queer, or tans. All of my siblings ended up queer, even the ones in straight marriages lawl. My folks had a lot to learn, and now they’re cool… but weren’t always.

Anyway, I mean no animosity by calling my bi-ass “diet gay”.

    Access keyboard settings from texts?

    Hiya!

Sometimes, when I’m texting and try to access another app, my phone cuts directly to keyboard settings. Does anyone know how I’m doing this? I like that it’s an option, but internet searching has failed me when trying to find out how I’m doing this.

Edit: A wonderful commenter solved my confusion—I was swiping up on the emoji button and that takes you to keyboard settings. Thank you again for your help!

After migrating from Reddit, it’s jarring that comment sections aren’t cluttered with hashtag-style comments that are just links to subreddits like /HoLuP/

I love that comment sections here are like, y’know, discussions and stuff. Not just the same jokes and parroted phrases over and over and over.

Beginner Resources: RPi4b to learn, then a GSA

    Hello there!

I am extremely new to this kind of stuff, and I’m excited to learn! I have recently acquired a Raspberry Pi 4b, which I would like to use to learn how to.. even begin with any of this. My experience with Linux is Ubuntu in 2008, then nothing until setting up my PiHole (I love you PiHole.)

I’ve heard all sorts of things about Docker and stuff. It seems above my head at this point when I’ve looked into it.

What I’d love to do is set up my Pi as a lil NAS. I’m seeing a video from this lovely fellow for setting up OpenMediaVault. Would you folks recommend I follow this verbatim, or should I do more research before doing such a thing? I think I overdid it on my OS card, by snagging a 256GB Extreme Pro (maybe should have gone endurance? I have a USB SSD and some USB HDDs I can use for this lil project.

Anyway, after learning that, I also have a GSA I came across with like 156GB RAM and like ten SAS drives. My mate tells me UNRAID might be the best choice for that. I’m a bit

Quick question—movie streaming site, extremely minimal interface and URL

I learned of this site from someone here and CANNOT, for the life of me, find it now. It was super simple like “watch.med.ia” or something, and had a dark, minimalistic UI. It had all things ever, basically, and the quality was stellar. No ads.

I’d love to find that site again, please, if anyone knows what I’m referencing.
