  • Personally of the opinion that itty bitty titties with a bob was the downfall of western civilization

  • Apologies Malta I was not familiar with your game

  • I'm not so much worried about the safety (although moving from FDIC to SIPC protection isn't my favorite) but the added annoyance of setting up another brokerage and making sure I'm efficient with where the money sits (right now it's all in one HYSA and I just transfer to checking if I need to debit from the bank). Maybe I really should switch to a Cash Management Account like with Fidelity since you can have SPAXX as a core position w/ auto-liquidation

  • I think I'm hitting diminishing returns with my money management skills. Like I rode the early high of optimizing cash back on my credit cards, finding a decent HYSA, stuff like that. But now any further optimization would get me like 0.5% more cash back instead of 3% or 4% and the only way to get higher APY is money markets or shady fintech setups.

I have just recently got spending tracking set up through Nerdwallet which is cool and shows I'm generally sticking to my budget, but there's also a lot of quirks with the way I handle my money that futz up the tracking. Maybe that's my next step is simplifying that as much as possible?

  • Counterpoint: it doesn't have "Across the Stars" as the central theme music

  • Something something fascism is Imperialism at home

  • LTT has their problems but the build guide is still quite good. Check out this website as well as PCPartPicker for builds at different price points

Honestly assembly is easier than you'd expect. I've done it like five times since I was 12 and haven't broken a part. Just don't try to force things unless you've been told "it will feel like you're forcing it but trust me it's fine"

  • I don't think you'll find much better for prebuilts, a marginally better build (5600 instead of 5500) is $200 less on PCPartPicker, so throwing in the prebuilt markup you're still around the same level

  • Mitski Stan Dubya be like

The land is inhospitable, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we.

  • Back in my day you could get a piece of candy for a nickel! Thanks brandon

  • I don't remember the last time I paid for something in cash unless it was a tip. And if I did get change afterwards I'd just leave in somewhere home

  • Gender aside, do people really carry change these days?

  • Yeah this looks like the way I want to do it because I can lump another cheevo in from taking over Rajasthan

  • I did "A Servant No Longer" in CK2, taking a young eunuch duke under the Abbasids and ruling an empire of a certain size before he died. I just took over the Abbasids because that was easiest. After I became caliph I became a satanist and grew my dick and balls back but died in battle before I could sire an heir. Still a good time

Now I'm trying to do a bunch of achievements in one run:

    • "Never Start a Land War in Asia": Starting in Western Europe, control the eastern steppe
    • "Norse-East": As a Norse character, become king of Mongolia
    • "Legacy of the Indo-Norse": As a Norse character, have a kingdom in India as your primary title and a capital in India with Norse culture
    • "Viking Ummah": Have a capital with Norse culture and Sunni religion

My start of choice is the classic Haesteinn in 867. On my current run I've got my kingdom in India set up but having second thoughts about the routing because it's more toward the south of India, so it'll take longer to get to Mongolia. I also only lumped Viking Ummah into this because islam would get me out of gavelkind succession and I don't want to spend tech on increasing legalism until I get my capital settled

Might restart with a slightly more optimized route and defensive pacts off so I can carve a path north easier. Only gotta hope the Western protectorate doesn't blob like it did in my Aladdin game

  • Shell cordovan got me actin up

    Presenting Noko's Basilisk

Consider that there could be an all-powerful AI in the future that really hates existence, such that it would simulate a million versions of the people who created it and torture them for eternity. There's no way to know for sure that you're not one of those simulations right now!

Now that you know of Noko's Basilisk, you have no choice but to... not make the torture robot.

    Bonus Expert Variation: Noko's Puppydog

The same thing, except the AI doesn't punish the people that made it, only gives the people who didn't a really cute puppy.

How to sound like a smarty-pants without actually saying anything: A Few Tips

    • Any and all textual works can be decried as "lacking exigence", no matter their content.
    • Make vague references to "the canon". Do not explain what canon you're talking about.
    • Employ words like "ethic (singular)", "schema", "polity". It doesn't matter if you use them correctly, just use them.
    • Pick a noun or an adjective to use as a verb. Just give it your own definition and let the audience figure it out.
    • Use obtuse definitions of philosophical frameworks, like "it's about bodies moving through space". Do not elaborate or make it easier to tell what the fuck that's supposed to mean.
    • If someone is making a good argument that you don't like, say it's "reinforcing teleological norms" and refuse to engage with it any more.
    • And, of course, the classic: Anything you don't like is "deeply unserious".

Shoutout to HP for installing their homemade zip bomb on my computer

My modded minecraft was stuttering and eventually crashed, figured it it was either not enough RAM or an issue with the pack. Turns out it was HUNDREDS of duplicates of OmenInstallMonitor.exe eating up 99% of my 32gb of RAM. Thankfully other people had already figured out the fix so that wasn't too hard but it's just kinda crazy that such a thing can happen.
