  • As a counterpoint, I don't replace water with anything sugary/flavored. I just... don't get thirsty, like ever, unless I'm working outside in hot weather. Most people's bodies remind them to drink. Mine doesn't. I try to remember to drink water throughout the day rather than just at mealtimes, but if I don't have a glass next to me, I will almost certainly forget. I feel like I can't be the only person like this.

  • Several democratic governors sued over the tariffs. So far the court has declared the tariffs to be illegal, but is for some reason allowing them to be collected while the case is appealed.

The gov of Maine sued him for withholding federal funds over having trans athletes and won.

The NYTimes has a pretty good article tracking the myriad of suits against him. They mention that 184 of them "have at least temporarily paused the administration's initiatives." https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2025/us/trump-administration-lawsuits.html

A handful of senators and state legislators have attempted to visit some of the prisons/ICE detention facilities, starting with Chris Van Hollen, who flew to El Salvador to see Kilmar Abrego Garcia.

David Hogg is attempting to primary the old do-nothing dinosaurs in the party.

I think right now we're all looking to California to see what they do in a literal military standoff with Trump. I don't know if it will be enough, but I don't think it will be nothing.

  • Your personal judgements about others are not "an elephant in the room" that needs to be talked about. They are not objective facts. Ask yourself, when you think someone is unattractive, why is it so important to you that they know you think they are unattractive? What do you think you are accomplishing by bringing it up?

  • And in order for the organs to be usable, a person basically has to die already in the hospital, otherwise there is too much time between death and organ removal. And the cause of death needs to have not affected the organs, etc. Really a lot of limiting factors. I don't remember the stat, but it's a very low percent of organ donors who are actually able to have their organs used for transplants when they die.

  • But you specifically call out European-Americans, who are much more likely to have left America because they didn't like trump. I don't think this is very well thought out. Almost sounds like you're calling American immigrants violent criminals, in which case you might want to submit some evidence or examples or something.

  • Probably a long shot, but have you by any chance had exposure to dioxin (agent orange) when you were young? Like growing up on military bases or someplace like Laos or Vietnam?

I know a few people who have those symptoms, and they had significant dioxin exposure as teenagers, though the symptoms didn't start coming on until they were in their mid-to-late 20s. Being exposed as an adult would not result in disability, however. It has to be during development.

  • Ohhh. As someone who also went through an editing program recently, yeah, I think AI has taken a lot of those jobs. Are you a member of any editing guilds like the EFA (if in the US)? They seem to have more one-off jobs for freelancers, but there was a regional guild I was part of that posted more corporate editing jobs, which maybe sounds more like what you're looking for. But right after AI got big it quickly became apparent that even the experienced freelancers were having a hard time getting steady work. I wish you luck. At least you have a good chunk of experience. I gave up because I didn't have any.

  • I really hate this. Do we really need to spend 20 minutes on every damn post to figure out if it's real now? Why muddy the water with fake shit when the real thing is bad enough?
