Facebook is privacy invasive.
If you're tech literate, there's much better headsets.
If you're not tech literate, there's VR for consoles.
Damn it Jerry, stop getting children killed by Israel!
And for sure they are, but n95's are best and since the stockpiles were depleted and/or expired and manufacturing capacity was at nil and shipping was jammed a lot of people died that didn't need to, not to mention the credibility erosion that could get more people killed in the future as well.
On the other hand a lot of people started questioning the USA in general so that's something but I'd still rather that happened without unnecessary pain and suffering.
I mean, "experts" did lie about COVID, but not predominantly that it exists. Fauci lied about the effectiveness of cloth masks over N95s because the US can't produce shit to save their lives (literally). So your relatives are partially right, but they've been propagandized against anything that could give them the full answer (like that supply chain issue was a crisis of capitalism and capitalism can't handle real crises, rather it often causes them) so unless they can overcome that partial truths are probably the best you're gonna get from them. I just interact with people like that as little as I can for my own sanity.
Don't ask for it, just take it
Satan's too busy running United Health.
Well, except for that one time he got sent home.
That's just because they recognize that the US isn't a democracy. Don't need the peoples vote when the peoples vote don't matter.
Comrade Shark: Eating shit to make the Israelis eat shit
Sounds like a great and anodyne place for people on the anodyne instance lemmy.world
Yeah it's called Memes
Or you could use Deepseek's workaround and run it locally. You know, open source and all.
The Onion never misses
We're in one of those decades where multiple decades happen. Just you wait for the weeks where decades happen.
I heard he was wearing...cotton
What I'm hearing here though is a greater critique of capitalism than anything. Medicine attempts to resolve situations with drugs first because it's cheapest and keeps the lights on, and people can't afford non-drug therapies because they're poor and overworked. The VA skimps because it's underfunded and America wants people to fight its imperial wars and then fucks them for doing so. Peoples' hormones are disordered because of unprecedented levels of environmental pollutants.
Croutons are cooked twice with no problems. Once the bread gets stale it probably grinds easily.
Oh wow, since she's the wife of someone famous [and white] there might actually be a consequence for this one
So I was watching Jurassic Park the other day you see...
Crazy, it's like they're running a genocide there or something

How many consultant-class make-work jobs were created by donations to the DNC so they could lose to Trump?
A general outline would suffice, just trying to get a sense of the scale

In light of lemmy.world's pre-emptive defederation of hexbear, would anyone support defederating lemmy.world?

Does any music genre have a disproportionally high number of highly educated artists?
Was reading about The Offspring due to this post here: https://lemmy.ml/post/2628198
As I read their Wikipedia page I noticed that Dexter Holland (lead singer) has a PhD in Molecular Biology. Then I remembered that Greg Gaffin (lead singer) of Bad Religion has a PhD in Zoology.
Is this a trend in Punk Rock or am I noticing a freak coincidence? If not punk rock, is there any genre that stands out in its number of highly educated artists?

I feel like /c/memes has taught us a valuable lesson today: Would it make sense to develop a feature to block a comm from our feed for a selectable unit of time (1 hour, 1 day, etc.)?
Even if we're subscribed to them? Could a temp block exist in conjunction with a subscription? I love c/memes but holy shit no matter which sort I select by they've managed to overwhelm my feed.

Hey Lemmy, what are your favorite ear worms?
Wikipedia for reference:

Hey Lemmy, do you think COVID is/has caused a brain drain and if so from what countries to where?

Hey Lemmy, what are some good public domain books?
I tend to like the volunteer-read audiobooks on librivox and recently was curious about their Sherlock Holmes books (never read or listened to before), but I'm wondering what else is out there and popular in the community.
