Do you use you card for payments in sandboxed Google play?

I have been hesitant to add my card because of privacy. I particular the fact that my card is linked to my email. What is your take on it?

Vibram five fingers vs other barefoot shoes?

I just got the V-Trail 2.0, but after trying them on indoors, I experienced that they were not that flexible compared to my Xero HFS. Will my VFFs break in or are VFF:s not really worth it in comparison to other barefoot shoes? My toes are not crammed and I use correct toes as often as I can. I have used only barefoot shoes now for a few years.

  • I don't really know actually. I just want a good bag, that is roomy, has a laptop compartment at the back, quick access pocket when taking one strap off and moving it from back to front. And a bigger not flat pocket for misc stuff (keys, glasses and so on). A water bottle pocket would also be nice to have.

Vibram V-Trail vs Xero Mesa Trail

Im looking for a new running shoe and I am choosing between a few different models, but first my preferences:

    1. As much barefoot feel as possible
    2. Can negate sharp rocks
    3. Water resistaint

That said. I can take it, if the sharpest of rocks give me discomfort rather than pain.

I can sacrifice a bit of water resistance if it dries fast and does not smell awful when gotten wet.

    Contenders:

    Vibram:

    • V-Trek
    • V-Trail 2.0

    Xero:

    • Mesa Trail 2
    • Mesa Trail WP
    • Scrambler low

ULA Dragonfly / Are TP3 EU alternative

Is the ULA Dragonfly / Aer Travel pack 3 worth it? I live in the EU (shipping+customs= $200 extra), but have friends who live in the states, who visit us once every summer (they could bring it).I

Is there a proper alternative in the EU to these two bags around 28-33L?

  • Could you specify further what you don't understand? I am having trouble understanding what is unclear in my first post. Yes, I want straps.. Just like a Birkenstock sandal. I also want a sole. Just like a Birkenstock sandal. But I want it to be zero drop.. Just like all barefoot shoes. I also want it to have a wide toebox (or in this case; a more generously rounded toe area) just like all barefoot shoes.

All in all: i do not want a random barefoot sandal with random straps, like the xero Z-trek for example. As stated in my first post: i am looking for a classic Birkenstock sandal, but with the core traits of a barefoot shoe.

    Barefoot shoes Birkenstock style?

Has anyone seen an indoor barefoot shoe that resembles classic Birkenstocks?

  • I would say cheap bamboo underwear would do the trick. The thing about merino underwear is that that may be great and expensive, but do not hold up that well for the price. If it is broken you can not use it, regardless how great it once was when it was not broken.

  • Thank you for all your nice thoughts and good advice. I think I am just having a low regarding my privacy journey right now, but I will get back up on the horse eventually. I also think I am overestimating, when companies get hold of some information, they have more information about me than I think. Sometimes I think I have to remind myself, that companies are really more interested in my habits and purchasing patterns, than my telephone number. I guess I do, in that regard, mix and confuse privacy with security a bit. I actually do think that my habits make me pretty secure, so then there is just privacy left. :)

  • I'm glad there are more people here, that are thinking about these daily dilemmas. The thing is, that I have already, since years, converted my family and friends to Signal, family is using it without a problem, but friends are using it pretty seldom, and then they do not get notifications when I am writing to them. So I got them on Signal, but I still can't contact some of them because of the notifications issue.😅 That's what made me write this post about redundancy.

Do you use other means of real time communication other than Signal and plain old SMS?

    Is privacy still worth pursuing?

;TLDR: Is privacy actions on an individual level worth pursuing, when friends and family are doing nothing to strengthen their privacy and when living in a country where my social security number, phone number, and so on, really can not be hidden?

Hi fellow DeGooglers. I have spent the last few years degoogling mine, and my GF:s lives and I am really happy about coming as far as I/we have come.

I am now starting to doubt alot of the things we have degoogled in our lives and I want to ask this community about it.

We live in a country, that has national records about everyone living in the nation. Almost every service the inhabitants of this country use, are relying on social security numbers, phone numbers, email and so on. We also almost daily rely on our banking apps to identify ourselves when using different services.

To this day I have persuaded a lot of our friends to use Signal but all of them use Signal as an extra app to communicate with just me or my GF.

    My GF still

  • I tried it now. I want the option of having widgets on my homescreen, I did not see that option. And from my point of view, the search functionality is not anywhere near Kvaesitso or Kisslauncher.

    Launcher recommendation

I have tried alot of launchers but never really settled on one that meets all my needs. I have also read all the threads on reddit about FOSS launchers.

    My preferences:

    • Multiple pages
    • Widgets on home screen
    • search function; app/contacts/ddg

The closest one yet is NeoLauncher, but the search function is not quite there I reckon.

    Any suggestions?

  • I started with a Nomatic travel backpack, got a Farpoint and now I am rocking a Synik 22L.

Nomatic: bells and whistles, but nothing else.

Farpoint: too large for EDC, but a great bag.

Synik: amazing bag, but I am maybe thinking it is too small for my needs.
