Hello am mwa just your casual lemmy enjoyer and reddit hater

Cool find but I will probably stick with ZSH
- GIMP (with photogimp patch)
- Steam
- Librewolf (I could also opt for a chromium based browser)
- Tor Browser (to browse onion links/throwaway browser)
- Heroic Games Launcher
- Prism Launcher
- latest Java lts (either from adoptium or openjdk i dont care about flashy new features)
- Libreoffice Still (similar to the second reason above and onlyoffice in appimage due to Libreoffice weird handling with ppsx files and powerpoints)
- QEMU/KVM with virt manager
- Gnome evolution (if it's gtk desktop I could opt for other email clients)
- Proton-GE
- WINE
- Ghostty(Kinda sucks it's based on libadwaita and gnome forces this theme on you no matter your desktop)
- Fish/ZSH(fish not having posix compatibility is kinda annoying)
- MPV (I could still use vlc but I prefer mpv because it can stream youtube links)
- ytp-dl(I can opt for a gui for convenience sake)
- BTOP
- Fastfetch

Just a note: its more of a Personal information manager(it includes calender, contacts,to do,etc) rather then just a email client
Depends on the distro here is a list based on my experience
- Opensuse: medium-ish
- Fedora: easy (requires a third party repo)
- Linux Mint: Pretty sure easy
- Cachyos/bazzite/nobara Very easy (comes with the distro)
The .run on nvidias website it's harder and requires some linux experience
Wonder if I will stay on cinnamon(not in linux mint) after cosmic comes out in a stable phase
If you want extra security turn it on or you want windows or any game (looking at you vanguard)to shutup about security boot being off
The only problem with security boot if you care about this is that it's managed by Microsoft(most of the time)
because Sadly Reddit is bigger then Lemmy and hopefully Lemmy will grow more.
Pretty sure tails os :P
Hopefully they start selling the Linux version in my country ngl
Give Cinnamon/Budgie a shot, (I recommend in a vm and see which one you like)both are based on gnome(cinnamon personally its like a combination between gnome 3 ane xfce).
I have the same experience with kde personally(Like it crashes sometimes, looks dated, etc it didnt crash that badly for me), and I decided to desktop hop to Cinnamon.
Yes I have Nvidia
I just use the automatic thingy on my distro so like:
- Esp: 2GB (Limine + btrfs snapshot booting)
- root: all the drive
Sure, ngl I prefer the apps and stuff downloading on the main machine
Ohhh yeah I had bazzite, fedora immutable spins and stuff in my head.
I completely forgot about nixos
- I don't really want to use Containerized packaging (flatpak, appimage nixos solves this nicely but its not my distro)
- They don't offer many desktop envoirments (typo sorry but nixos also solves this )
- I like my current distro
Because for it to run it needs a patched version of wine with dxcore support(or smth like this)
It requires a custom version of wine
Bloons TD6 From Epic games Stuck at Loading screen (It was free from a sale )
hello i am trying to run Bloons TD6 Which is a game with platinum rating but when i try loading into a game it its stuck at the loading screen and multiplayer/online play throws up salt must be 8 bytes long(The solutions online are releated to Java and the game use unity???) I tried Cachyos-wine Cachyos-Proton and Proton-ge and lutris and bottles am also making this post incase any other game didnt work
Any app like kilipper/Windows clipboard manager for any desktop?
Hi so am using Cinnamon(Not Linux Mint),i kinda liked Kdes features but i found it buggy so i had to give up kipper and switch to cinnamon,I tried Diodon(too buggy,a little old and doesnt store images) and Gpaste (doesnt store images, and only store clipboard while open) thanks.
Racoon for Lemmy App Review,Downloaded from f-droid.
I love this app, fits oneui so well (When customized),And it feels wat more buttery smooth then jerbora ans extremely feature packed, kinda wish there was push notifications support.
Just learned today there is a onion version of Reddit (dont know if official and not
So i randomly found this on enlightenment (linux desktop) mastodon page and i decided to post it here.
should I completely jumpship to linux when windows 10 ends support/am ready or dualboot ltsc and linux
Which is the better option + spinning a vm is possible and ltsc the only issue is I have to repirte a windows license for ltsc(and according to Microsoft ltsc was mostly designed for embedded systems) thanks for any help and I decided to post it on the linux community bcs I couldn't find a suitable place to post it and this is related to linux but man I love linux tho and if I go with the jumpship method I have to sadly leave some games behind like roblox (it's fine due to some moderation issues bad games etc etc but ngl its a fun game ik sober exists but i kinda dont wanna use a android emulator to play roblox i could use it since its our only option for linux and also i need to wait some time for my affinity subscription to end orrrr i try running it on bottles/wine again)
Edit: I have delete roblox due to 2 reasons one to ease deleting windows and their management
Edit 2: i might test first If I ever boot into my windows disk to see if I need it anymore
how to disable this annoying notification
It's getting annoying
Which will give you more fps lightweight distros or gaming distros (proton and native)
Hi so i have been thinking to my self which type of distros gives fps boost is it gonna be gaming or the lightweight low resource usage
I cannot find anything its just all revive your old pc and its seperate
Pc specs:
mid-high end anything that is classified as "gaming"
for example garauda/ cachy(ik this isnt a gaming distro but alr) vs smth like antix or mxlinux
thanks for any answers,

View NuCoin Scam Exposed by Odysee and Journalists on Odysee

In an era of growing concern over digital censorship and fraud, decentralized platforms like Odysee have played a pivotal role in ensuring that critical information remains accessible. While Nubank attempted to cover up its fraudulent actions, key documents like the NuCoin whitepaper and regulatory papers remained accessible on Odysee, highlighting its effectiveness in preserving data. Built on the Arweave blockchain, Odysee's decentralized model ensures that content is stored permanently and cannot be altered or removed, this is in stark contrast to Nubank's efforts to silence critics and avoid accountability.
my semi move to Linux in early-mid 2024 (Excuse some grammar and punctuation)
This was inspired by debian guy on the same community you can check out his story here i hope i aint stealing anything
Why did i decided to move to linux?
Windows is getting slower with win11 + the microsoft recall thing, (tho windows 10 solved this issue. am prob gonna fully switch linux once windows 10 ends support, and i dont think windows 12 is gonna be any better and idk why am considering buying macos as a secondary os.) and also Linux gives you more frames as well in gaming.
The story:
So i wanted to try Linux, the first distro i ever used if you count is Ubuntu, i hardly used it in the vm, but really it was Linux mint, i loved the speed, simplicity, etc i would download distros on my brothers laptop when he takes my gaming pc bcs how windows 11 is slow on his laptop i also used tails os(on my main pc) and some nix (didnt like Nixos config when i was new) and i used Tails os as well and i didnt know why discord isnt working :
where did you know about lemmy and why did you start using it
For me a social media in a linux distro called blendos and because reddit sucks and is soo toxic man
