  • Thank you for the write up! It was very informative.

I hope I'm not imposing, but you seem knowledgeable. Could you recommend a resource for a beginner to learn about audio technology? I'm thinking of upgrading from my old PC speakers to a proper surround setup for my home and want to know what to look for in a quality product.

  • I guess I just meant something a little more precise than just left and right for directions you can hear audio from. I didn't realize this was more of a software thing. I don't know a whole lot about audio tech.

  • Thank you for the recommendation! I did some more research on this pair and they seem really solid for the money. Current price was pretty tough to resist, got a set for me and one for my wife, too.

    Purchase Advice

    Hey all,

I'm looking for a decent pair of headphones around $100ish US. I would like the following:

    • Wired
    • A mic or a slot to put one
    • Some kind of spatial audio
    • Comfortable to wear for long periods
    • All features available without the use of proprietary software

The headphones will be driven by a desktop computer and used for communication, gaming, and listening to music. Can anyone here recommend something?

    Modding Spelunky 2 On Linux

    Hey all,

This is a copy of my guide that was originally posted on Reddit. I have removed it and linked to this post for future googlers.

The first thing you will need is SteamTinkerLaunch, installation instructions can be found here. Be sure to check out the "distro specific instructions" section.

Now add SteamTinkerLaunch as a compatibility tool, instructions to do so can be found here.

Next, in your Steam library, right click on Spelunky 2, click Properties, check the box next to "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatability tool" and select SteamTinkerLaunch.

The next thing you'll need is Modlunky2, which can be found here. Just download modlunky2.exe, and place it in Spelunky 2's directory. You can find the directory by right clicking the game in your Steam library, hoveri

  • The main benefits of private trackers are:

    • Download speed. Many users of these trackers will use seedboxes to build ratio. This generally results in a faster download speed for peers.
    • Security. Many (but not all) private trackers have strict entry barriers, such as invite only or application based signups. This keeps copyright trolls out of their swarms, which eliminates the need for a vpn or other method of masking your identity. Depending on where you live this can range from a nicety to a necessity.
    • Longevity. Torrents generally live longer on private trackers.
    • Community. Some private trackers have a forum or IRC channel where you can interact with other community members.
    • Availability. Many private trackers will have a wider range of releases of a single media.
    • Quality. You will generally find higer quality releases on private trackers. That's not to say that high quality releases don't make it to public trackers, some do and some don't.
    • Faster releases. Releases will typically come to private trackers first. Many torrents originate on these trackers or come from scene groups and trickle down.

If you're finding everything you want on public trackers then you probably aren't missing anything. You could test the waters on TL or something next time they open.

    Crazy Fucking Videos

Hopefully I got the url formatting correct.

I'm not the creator or a moderator of this community or anything but I'm the only one posting. I'm going to try to post a bunch of the videos I've saved over the years (I've got hundreds lol) to get the ball rolling.

It seems like the best way to share videos here is to upload them to your preferred website and put the link in your post. I've been using Imgur because you don't need an account to upload. You do have to use the desktop site if you want to upload from mobile without the app.

  • I am certainly no expert but I think conceptually they are neat so long as there is another way to access the account if, like you say, you lose the device or something else happens. In the current world of social media and AI, facial login would seem to me to be the furthest thing from secure.
