  • Thanks for that, I didn't know about all that drama. I'll surely look up !onehundredninetysix@lemmy.blahaj.zone

  • My main reason to use arch is the exceptionnally complete and useful arch wiki. Though many pages are useful for other distros as well. With the archlinux and package install guides, it's just a matter of time (and study!) until you know how to get around.

  • !196@lemmy.blahaj.zone That's where I find the funniest memes. And it's respectful of everyone regardless of gender, ethnic group and so on.

  • You should make a set for cars parked on bike lanes!

  • You got me! It was my inner french that seeped into my english 😄

  • Hufeisentheorie, wer hätte das gedacht? 😅

    1. France (born in it)
    2. Germany: (grandparents live next door on the border. I have great memories of tasty sausages and cool public playgrounds from my youth)
    3. Germany: (again) as an exchange student in middle school. I still have a seering memory that I didn't even know what my home region name was in German (Lorraine = Löthringen)
    4. Luxemburg: dad was a smoker, cigarettes were cheap there, end of story?
    5. UK: went three time, in middle school, high school and with family. Best time was in high school when I boarded at this Elvis double's. We always listened to great music and he made pancakes EVERY morning ❤️
    6. Denmark: exchange student in high school. It's a beatiful country with great history. Too bad that my pen pal/exchange student and I were both timid :[
    7. Catalogna, Spain: with friends. Lasting memory is that I took some pleasure swimming again there. Wasn't my thing since PE teacher said to my face I could'nt swim… 😬

Looking back, I'm quite privileged 😅

  • Poor grandma and grandpa… (totatally true though)

  • So communism and nazism gave birth to Palestine? Wtf!? I'm having a really big mental block…

  • Reminds me there was not a lot of talk about the environment in the democrats presidential campain. A shame since a radical transition to a green industry can hit two birds with one stone: create many jobs and improve people's living conditions.

  • Was gonna say it feels a bit weird to see a suspension fork on a bike with road handlebars. You'd surely make it a lot lighter/faster if you switch it for a rigid one. That is, if you go for a road-like build.

  • It's not online but at my usual bar I often get into arguments with a monarchist guy and a free-market/deregulation dude. They often tell me they'll someday manage to make me "take the red pill". It's kind of annoying for them to disregard my views like that. That's why I don't actively try to change theirs.

  • That's so cool! Now I'm ashamed of my boring wooden rectangle bases. 😅

  • You've got a few episodes of Love Death and Robots that really have that twilight Zone feel (and some are set in space!). That's also the case for the pacman episode of Secret Level. This one gave me chills down my spine. 😅

  • Yeah… they're already in a bad spot. But one can always dig oneself into a deeper hole.

  • The US won't annex Greenland, that would basically make a pariah of them on the international scene. Like Russia there would be economic sanctions, trade deals would be broken, american assets abroad would be seized and this could include american military bases. So yeah, most likely the US governmint is gonna keep acting like a childish bully trying to drive a wedge between Greenland and Denmark. And maybe between every european nations…

  • But regarding the chinese government, I'm not sure we can call it communist anymore. Authoritarian, imperialist, oppressive and bellicose are more accurate qualifiers; mainly thanks to president Xi.

  • Nerdwriter once made a video about how Passengers could have been a horror/thriller (and a better movie) if it had been told through the point of view of Jennifer Lawrence instead of Chris Pratt's. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gksxu-yeWcU

  • Most laptops will be more or less fully compatible with linux I think. Though a few niche features like finger print or key card readers might be a hassle to get working. To me, the most important thing is the keyboard since some manufacturers forgo the end of/start of line buttons, for instance.

Is ammonia as fuel too dangerous?

There are a lot of papers advocating for a switch away from fossil fuels, and even H2 fuel cells, to ammonia based propulsion in transport. It can be used in combustion engines but there's a risk of NOx production. So the greenest option to me is ammonia to H2 conversion or direct ammonia fuel cells. It's got the same advantages of classic H2 fuel cells but without the constraints of cryogenic or pressurized containment of H2. And ammonia has a better energy density. But it's toxic for humans and, above all, marine life! Especially for fish species. So I'm feeling a bit uneasy about potential mass ammonia spills…
