Bragging about Linux is hard

Cant wait for the day I can delete Discord and never look back.

  • Took me a weekend watching youtube back in highschool. Its not SUPER hard to get it consistent. Look for the pattern, do the right moves.

To do it faster you need to learn even more patterns, which i have not learnt. Like my best time is 59 seconds. No idea how to do your sons 30 second time.

  • All I have emerged was vim (because nano hurts my muscle memory) and fastfetch (because style points). That took 20 minutes+, but I just hoped its because i didnt select closer mirrors then.

Oh yeah. OpenRC, Desktop profile, multilib, so whatever packages included in there.

If i remember, use flags were : -kde, -gnome, -systemd, wifi... Not TOO crazy

Get a ThinkPad+Gentoo they said. It will be fun they said.

1hr+ for a general update* (following the guide. Pre-kernel)

On a more serious note, gentoo is fun... On competent hardware. This is a 4 core Celeron N2940 with 4gb of RAM.

*emerge --ask --verbose --update --deep --changed-use @world is too long to type...

  • Maybe I didnt grow up with fishing as a normal thing, but Ive always seen it as an excuse for guys to get away from thier wives and drink.

I did it once, and 10 minutes in I was bored. Just standing there with a line, waiting...

  • Name them

  • Not quite money laundering, but for a time thwre was shapp called the 'Happy Herb Shop'. In the centre of town. Maijuana is still lillegal in AUS

Was too young to get in when it was open, and closed down when I was old enough to go in. :(

Do you wish your father (who proved who is OK with punching his children) a happy birthday?

On the one hand, my father lost his dad when he was 12, so he is not perfect. I want to assume he is atleast trying his best. But this past year, "his best" was "OK with punching his children" and as far as I know, hasnt seen his grand children. (My sister has a kid. Living happy with her partner. Since sister and partner is not married, my dad doesnt acknowlege them.)

Im OK with skipping the birthday text to father, but mother (who i still talk to) insist i send the text.

    Gentoo help: sys-kernel/Installkernel

Im following the handbook, and I'm up to configuring the kernel. (In a vm. Skipping the optional installing firmware/microcode for now)

Trying for an OpenRC system, but it looks like all the steps need systemd.

All the videos I watched seems to skip this step and just go to Kernel configuration and compilation, but I dont want to a) mix old videos and up-to-date handbook, and b) blindly copy commands. I understood mostly everything untill now. Just this kernel step where I got lost the first time I tried to install gentoo.

    Micro Transactions actually suck

Younger brother asking how to get earn minecoins. You cant. Have to buy them. That dissapointment in his voice. The heart break i feel as the older brother.

Cant imagine on christmas, parenta go all in on the new system and popular game, then to realise that thier child cant have the max amount of fun* without paying extra.

Am I allowed to use gentoo if im not 40+ or dating?

On a more serious note, how does updating apps on gentoo work? I understand that everything is built on your system, but then if the app is updated, do you need to re-compile every time?

Swapping out SIM cards before my flight tomorrow

Daily drive a Pixel 7 Pro with GrapheneOS. Does 90% of my daily needs while use my PC for the last 10%. Planned to use a spare phone with Stock Android for my holiday. Pixel 7 SIM card tray broke inside the phone. I love the Pixel software features, but with this, fingerprint issues and past battery issues, i dont know if i want another pixel phone after this
