  • Start stuff, then maybe be motivated to continue. I can be depressed and in a dirty apartment, or depressed in a clean apartment. Depressed in a clean apartment is nicer. So, I do a little and sometimes that turns into a lot.

  • Candy cigarettes.

Bad tasting sugar. Trains you for holding a real one.

But they were at the gas station a mile from home and near a park. Freedom from family and responsibilities. Just spending time with friends, eating candy, enjoying the sun shine. Dreaming of smoking.

  • Fuck. Copilot is going to add ads to everything.

Videos, links, random paragraphs. Everything written by a llm will feature 3rd party ads. Taking a page from malware developers, there will be innocuous libraries added that will later morph.

Eventually, we will stop writing software as llms will be all software. Serving ads. Serving you to advertisers.

"Hey watch, what time is it?"

"Time for a sugar snack. Just go to the counter, it is already paid for (by you)."

  • If only some government somewhere on Earth had sponsored research on this. We could have known.

Or we did and no one cared.

Remember, if one depends on the media for information, you only get information dumb people can understand.

St. Paul, Minnesota Wild scale back plans for Xcel Energy Center revamp to $488M

What's more, the city and team are drastically reducing their request for state funding, down from the $394.6 million suggested in March to just $50 million in Thursday's proposal.

MN Republicans introduce vaccine criminalization bill drafted by Florida hypnotist

The Minnesota Republicans sponsoring the bill include Shane Mekeland (Clear Lake), Krista Knudsen (Lake Shore), Assistant GOP Floor Leader Walter Hudson (Albertville), Jeff Dotseth (Silver Township), Tom Murphy (Underwood), Pam Altendorf (Red Wing), Keith Allen (Kenyon), and Deputy Speaker Pro Tempore Isaac Schultz (Elmdale). Several have also sponsored a marginally less extreme bill (HF 3152) that would make administering mRNA vaccines a misdemeanor subject to a $500 penalty.

Federal cuts threaten to close Pennsylvania lab that certifies N95s and other respirators in June

The Pa. laboratory that certifies all of the country’s NIOSH-approved respirators is on the chopping block. HHS is stonewalling employees who raise questions.

What products should be produced locally?

I am looking for ideas on what products should be produced locally. Not things that your area can do sn awesome job at and export. Rather things that should be locally produced near everyone.

Feel free to define "locally" as you wish. I am thinking with 5 miles, but with 200 is also good.

Please include your reasoning. Everything from shipping costs, to ownership "punch-ability" are great.

I will kick things off in the comments.

Why don't we cook on car engines?

In the 1970's and 1980's there were several books the either had characters that did it or promoted it.

Why is there no cooking tray in my new car's engine bay?

Is it dangerous? (It would be less physically dangerous if there was a specific spot for it.)

Goblin - What are actual uses?

I am a jr. Dev, but not imaginative. I find most programming languages to be poorly advertised and explained. Usually they assume too much knowledge.

What would I use Web Assembly, like Goblin (https://spritely.institute/), for? Are there examples of Web Assembly programs?

It is for web pages, or online games? Can they be run offline?

    How to filter words?

    Hello,

Where is the menu for adding filtered words? I had found the word filter before, but now I cannot. "Bans and Filters" looks like the right place, but I cannot add words.

    Thanks in advance!

    The Meaning of Life

As an Atheist, I am often puzzled by the theist view that the Meaning of Life comes only from God. It seems very narrow, bleak, and heavy handed.

Do you find value in discussion of the Meaning of Life?
What do you think the meaning is?
What value do you think knowing the Meaning of Life brings?

How many Nintendo Switches do I need for a family of gamers?

I don't understand the Nintendo Switch. How many do I need for a family of gamers?

They are a personal device like a gameboy.
There is a TV version for party games.
The games may or may not be shareable, even with the physical games.
Assume the ideal usage is during screen time on a weekend.

I have been avoiding buying one as I don't understand them. Thinking of getting them soon.

I assume one OLED for the family and then a portable per person, then one copy of each game per device.

    How is this affordable?

I like a certain unremarkable car from the recent past. As they are repairable currently, can one just buy all of the parts new and put it together?

Are there any parts that aren't sold new?

    Have you done this?
Are there any tools to help one get all of the parts?
    Any communities?

What are you supposed to do at a food truck festival?

The lines are long. The food is expensive. Everyone in the group wants to eat something different. The food taste is a gamble. There are few places to eat.

Does everyone stick together and wait in all of the lines? Split up and meet at some location? Eat on the way to the festival and just hang out?

What would a 3 hour work day be like?

It often feels like there are only 3 productive hours in typical American white collar work day.

What if we just cut out the rest?

Edit: Some great responses. So responses must have also been said about the 5 day and 40 hour work weeks.
