  • I think that’s what they mean by “on the surface”. If he had just kept the cringe quiet and stayed out of politics, he could have pushed the envelope on electric cars, rockets, robots, etc. and a majority of people would have been happy to see him do it. He had two things going for him: enormous wealth and a desire for cool tech.

    He could have had as many stupidly named babies as he wanted, seethed about trans people and have time to actually get good at video games, all from the luxury of his many homes and jets. All he had to do was let his PayPal money get to work in his chosen tech industries and keep his personality out of it.

    The world might have progressed a little, even. His companies would be better off. Many of us would have bought Teslas. The Cybertruck would never have happened. Twitter would… well, Twitter would still suck but it would be someone else’s fault.

  • That’s in rule #1 on this community.

  • It’s an actual conspiracy. Conspiracy theory minded people must be going insane right now. On some level, I bet they never believed their theories or, at least, expected hard evidence that other people would believe. It must hurt them to not have special knowledge.

    I wonder if their theories will change to something less plausible than a cabal of rich white men trafficking in young women and girls.

  • Makes wonder if that is exactly what it would look like to aliens. 👽

    It could be how our species responds to overpopulation pressures. Though, I think wealth concentration is a more likely cause.

  • Depends on what you need. Anyway, try to find something local to you. Most places will have local companies that deliver packaging/office supplies/equipment.

  • This guy has been the most boring, milquetoast talking conservative head for a long time. He’s the Alan Colmes for centrist/liberal US media.

    He’s made a career out of trying to make conservatism palatable to rational, empathetic audiences. He’s like a third-rate MD selling supplements and alternative therapies.

  • Those brackets…

  • The phone can send GPS coordinates with 911 or 112. They don’t need to triangulate off of cell towers.

  • There have several reports recently of Netflix pressuring writers/directors/producers to create shows and movies tailored to distracted consumers. Basically, telling them to repeat plot points in dialog so that people ‘watching’ while doing other things can keep up.

    I’d put that in the evil category along with advertising and media company consolidation.

  • “Then, they shouldn’t call them ‘love seats’!” —Vance, probably

  • I’m no lawyer but:

    High treason

    46 (1) Every one commits high treason who, in Canada,

    (b) levies war against Canada or does any act preparatory thereto; or

    Treason

    (2) Every one commits treason who, in Canada,

    (b) without lawful authority, communicates or makes available to an agent of a state other than Canada, military or scientific information or any sketch, plan, model, article, note or document of a military or scientific character that he knows or ought to know may be used by that state for a purpose prejudicial to the safety or defence of Canada;

    (c) conspires with any person to commit high treason or to do anything mentioned in paragraph (a);

    (d) forms an intention to do anything that is high treason or that is mentioned in paragraph (a) and manifests that intention by an overt act; or

    (e) conspires with any person to do anything mentioned in paragraph (b) or forms an intention to do anything mentioned in paragraph (b) and manifests that intention by an overt act.

  • This will be a glorious failure.

  • I logged all of my work for years and it shows that I’m not a logger.

  • “Some people presidents just want watch the world California burn.”

    Throw this on the pile of stupid over there and get back to this ICE thing.

  • Yes, servers are located in places with big Internet connections.

  • Galaxy collisions, protein folding, mechanical design and much more. Big simulations of real world physics and chemistry that require massively parallel computation, problems that require insane numbers of calculations running on multiple machines that can pass data to each other very quickly.

    Every supercomputing center has a website where you can read about the research being done on their machines.

    No, these can’t be done at similar scale on your desktop. Your PC can’t do that many calculations in a reasonable time. Even on supercomputers, they can take weeks.

  • Those aren’t even the same person.

  • Fucking delusional twat. Either he’s on some serious drugs or this is some PR bullshit made to sound like he’s genuinely worried that Nobel laureate-level AI is right around the corner so that people will throw more money into his pocket company. Or both, could be both. But, I think he’s simply an asshole.
