  • Looks like it does do the thing Adobe claimed it wouldn't after all.

Still poor form from Nine for using it in the first place, and for not catching it in the editorial process. But seems this is just another reminder this week of the biases of generative models.

ABC hires 'notoriously anti-worker' US law firm, Seyfarth Shaw, in Antoinette Lattouf unlawful dismissal case

The national broadcaster will be represented by Seyfarth Shaw, which has a decades-long reputation of anti-union practices in the US, to act in the Fair Work Commission matter involving journalist Antoinette Lattouf.

  • Housing costs, rental or purchase, are only resolved by supply and ending real estate's position as an investment vehicle.

That means large scale public housing investment to the point that it actively devalues property on a capital value bases. Rental yields are already a poor investment on their own. That leaves the "just park the money" crowd with a simple choice: sell now or watch it depreciate.

  • While we continue to provide arms, manpower, and any modicum of diplomatic legitimacy to war criminals engaged in at least one of three of the most dire crimes against humanity, these protests remain relevant to our country and governments.

  • Interesting that the BBC article omits the words of Christopher Staker entirely when he spoke at length on behalf of Israel as well.

I guess too much of that was too reminiscent of his defence of Myanmar’s genocide of the Rohingya.

  • Putting aside all the issues with any foreign national fighting on behalf of other nations in the least complicated scenarios, in the current Pacific context and with Australia's position against China's growing involvement in the region I find it hard to believe the entanglements this would potentially produce aren't considered a fringe benefit.

  • Something we're seeing in the closeness between those individuals and organisations vocally supporting said ethnonationalism and white supremacists. Be that Jonathan Greenblatt and the ADL and Musk in the US, or Avi Yemini and our various white supremacist and neo-nazi organisations right here in Melbourne.

"Ethnonationalist international" is quite the global phenomena at the moment. Up until they share a border anyway.
