  • Lot of bots in Texas which means a lot of bootstraps for them to use to pull themselves up!

In all seriousness, they should be getting aid and relief from the federal government. Thats what FEMA is for, that's what the true American way should be; supporting each other and helping out where we can.

I wish the best for the residents of Texas but anybody there upset about not getting aid needs has only their local, state and federal government to blame. Unfortunately, some folks will get caught in the middle.

  • Some people do. I used to have a local 24hr diner that had the carafe that sat on a burner all day and there was just something about the tar black, bitter abyss of that coffee that I liked.

Once I tried good coffee that was bitter, and floral, and nutty, and somehow also a little sweet; really just a well balanced flavor, I understood the difference.

Everyone has different tastes and it's probable better to say coffee that's only bitter is not quality coffee bean coffee.

  • The drop in black coffee consumption in the US is a relatively recent trend. Only 18% of people prefer to drink their coffee black – a 56% decrease from 2022.

If all you're getting from your coffee is bitterness then it's not very good coffee.

  • Yes, both our dogs are allowed on the sofa. We put down blankets if they're wet/muddy after the park. Otherwise we just Chom chom it every so often and use a Green machine for stains.

For reference we have one border collie pit mix with a single smooth coat, and one heeler border collie mix with a rough double coat.

The heeler mix is our big shedder and the biggest reason we bought a Roomba.

  • Don't forget The Tick!

  • He was also Jonah Hex.

  • Yeah, kind of. I live in Minnesota and here raw ingredients, and essential food items are untaxed. Prepared foods, candy, soda and anything "non-essential" are taxed normally.

  • Reasonable suspicion does have a specific legal definition.

You are right that it's not a magical shield or protection in the moment. It would matter in court but that would be well after the fact and, as we've all seen, would just give ICE time to play their shell game.

  • Re-read my comment. You're saying the same thing I did. Did you think I replied to you and not the other user?

    Here's what I said:

A retail store, a restaurant etc. can refuse currency from a customer but a loan/lien holder, a public utility company, a government entity or an HOA must all accept any legal tender.

    Which is the same as:

If it's before the point of sale, they can refuse any form of payment. If you've already accrued the debt, they can't refuse it.

The user I replied to who was responding to you said:

There is no federal statute mandating that a private business, a person, or an organization must accept currency or coins as payment for goods or services.

I told them they were confusing two separate issues.

  • Thomas Campbell's 1809 poem, Gertrude of Wyoming, helped popularize the name in the context of the Wyoming Valley.

Yeah, maybe read up and learn some history.

The Wyoming that Campbell described is a verdant valley bisected by the Susquehanna River in what is now northeastern Pennsylvania. In the mid 1700’s, the colony of Connecticut claimed it, citing a conveyance by King James the First under the great seal of England dated November 3, 1620. At the same time, the Six Nations Indian tribes—the Iroquois—claimed they owned the Wyoming valley, though it was mostly occupied by Delaware and other peoples pushed out of other places, who were sometimes allies of the Iroquois, and sometimes not.

  • Why? Because some coward on the internet who's all talk made a baseless accusation?

I'm not really worried what you think.

  • Interesting how everyone who questions you gets labeled a "magat".

  • Wyoming is a Lenape word. The Lenape were also known as the Delaware Indians so it's named from their word which means "on the great plain".

  • Hey mods, how many of us do they get to kill before you will let us talk about killing them?

Are you just talk? You want to advocate for others to do what you won't?

They say actions speak louder than words so, hop to it. The rest of us will be right behind you…

  • Ah, ok. I thought maybe it was the way my app displayed it.

Would be a nice feature if that was optional or turned off.

  • We were worried we wouldn't see any this year. The house across the street sold and the new owners cleaned up the backyard which had been great wing wild for years.

Fortunately we still see tons! We removed our grass in the front and replaced it with Dutch clover so I'm thinking that might be why. I also have our lights set to go off at 10pm.
