This question should be illegal. Name changes should be simple and up to the individual when they have autonomy. Before then, you get whatever your parents want, because names are just made up nonsense anyway.

Right, but once they are taken by a private collections company, would they still carry that with them? I assume at some point the collections company actually buys out the loan in hopes of collecting more. Once they buy out the loan, they are owed, but at this point it's arguable the non-defaultable student loan was paid.
Doesn't this give a 7 year path to full default and erasure or something similar that federal loans wouldn't have?
I can see the value in practice makes perfect, but I still think everything will just be ignored, as they can continue to act via pure policy without obstruction.

Just mandate a luxury tax on all things normal people don't buy. You can have wealth, but you cannot have anything normal people cannot have without paying. Oh you want to acquire a whole ass business? You want to donate millions for political influence? You want a Ferrari? Want more land or a huge house? You pay demoralizing amounts of luxury tax.
So you don't really want to archive in the technical sense, you want it offline for security, which is valid but extremely inconvenient for regular end users.
Warranty... Some are 15-20 years, but you need proof of purchase docs, which are often emailed data.
