  • Bullshit. My aunt has a washing machine with all knobs and switches that's probably 30+ years old and it still works fine.

They need to stop putting all these digital components into washing machines or make the boards standardized so they can be easily swapped out. These aren't laptops that you toss after 3-5 years. Appliances should last 10-20 years.

  • Your first post seemed sincere, but this one reads like a dirty writing prompt.

    That's a stupid cliffhanger.

    What happened?

Did you just let him mess with it? blow you? did you engage? Make out? Bro job?

It doesn't seem like you took the very good advice of talking to him.

Clearly it sounds like you're open to it so you didn't traumatize him in some homophobic rant putting him.

Edit your post or take it down.

  • I can't stress this enough with everyone.
The safest thing you can do while driving is be predictable.

Don't speed up/slow down/stop abruptly. Use your turn signals before you need to do anything else.

Example: I'm in the middle of a 2 lane ave in the center. My turn is coming up. Before I slow down, check my mirrors or turn to see if it's safe change lanes I turn on my signal. This let's everyone know I'm going to change what I'm currently doing.

... Sadly that also means the cars in the outside lane start speeding up because "oh no you're not slowing me down. I'm important and have things to do"

This self centric mentality just tells people not to use turn signals and just jump in front of other cars without notice.

    Then we get more accidents.

  • Data isn't really weighted the same.

There's loads of encrypted data in data centers for cold storage for years and years. There's loads of video files, movies, TV shows, documentaries, security camera footage (all these video doorbells).

You can compare a 30GB Blu-ray copy of The Matrix vs the entirety of Wikipedia and Project Gutenberg. The value of that data is incomparable.

    Can't really answer your question.

  • 20 years is fucking painful.
    That's half your life.

My sister is going through that and she's already back in the game!

You're still young at 40! Kids hopefully getting to the point where you don't have to baby them as much so you can enjoy more me time.

How often do you get off a week?
    Whats your routine?
Pick up a womanizer (or rose) if you don't have one yet!

You come across the Death Note today. What do you do with it?

For anyone that doesn't know about Death Note it's a fictional notebook from a death god. If you write someone's name in it while picturing thier face they die. You can also manipulate thier actions and method of death to some extent.

PayPal implements default data sharing with third parties: users must manually opt out

    cross-posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/20495259

Depending on where you're based, you'll find PayPal's new data-sharing option under a different name. Remember, you may not see this at all if you're based in a country that doesn't allow it.

If you're in the US, you should head to your profile Settings and tap on Data & privacy. Under Manage shared info, click on Personalized shopping. You should see the option enabled by default. Toggle off the button at the right to opt-out.

If you are in the UK like me, you'll see something different after you head to your profile Settings and tap on Data & privacy.

Under Manage your privacy settings, here you'll see an Interest-based marketing tab – click on it. At this point, two options will appear: Interest-based marketing on PayPal and Internet-based marketing on your accounts. You have to tap on each of these and toggle off the button at the right to opt-out. These instructions can also apply if you're based in the

Is it just me, or is it hard to follow Manhua?

So I bumped into a new series while going down the rabbit hole with no description. Cover art and title was interesting so I read a few.

Standard setup and back story. Might be interesting to see if anything unique stands out...

Then it kept jumping forward. The story progressed way too fast.

I realized it was a manhua.

I don't know why but there's always so much happening so fast it's hard for me to digest it all that I end up dropping it.

    What are your thoughts?

    Other manhua I've dropped:

    • Versatile Mage
    • My Wife is a Demon Queen
    • Monster Pet Evolution

    Cheap and safe streaming sticks

Apologies if this is the wrong instance for this.

Is there a best option for HTPC streaming solutions besides throwing Linux on an old desktop? Plugging in a desktop for streaming doesn't work too well for wall mounted televisions. My options are mini PCs or a 3rd party streaming stick. Even a RasPi stick running OSMC should do the trick.

These 3rd party sticks online are extremely tempting for power and features but I'm concerned about embedded malware. Best option would be to wipe it and load OSMCor raspbian to ensure its clean. Anyone have experience with this?

    Care to share your setup?
