  • Maybe start with voting no on the new censorship bill that just passed with unanimous consent that Trump specifically said he will abuse to silence people.

I mean they have so many options to move in any direction other than their shoulders up in a shrug.

  • Yet they are happy to hand the criminal who is actively shooting people another loaded weapon because "optics".

They are the kind of people that say you should stay with a partner that rapes and abuses you because it might make family gatherings weird if you complain.
    Fuck those people.

  • Yeah that will only be true for the rich and powerful. Ever go to the police as a poor for stalking?

The same way that Facebook can say "no" when you ask them to stop training AI on your data they will just send it to an automated not that will find no issue and deny the takedown but for those that pay I'm sure it will be very effective.

  • This reminds me of the DNC super donor Ed Buck who would lure in gay black men and kill them by injecting meth into them while raping them.

He managed to do it for years and wasn't until one of the victims survived to be able talk about it that he was sentenced as with every previous body it was said it was a private issue and a sad loss of a friend.
Photos managed to get shared of his racist, rape, death den helping sway the public.

Ed Buck would have loved this bill and its ability to actively scrub his image further.
If it feels like monsters would like something I don't want it.

  • Adding more noise does nothing to add insights it just makes it more exhausting to pick a position yourself.

If everything is nuanced then you can more easily give up on caring in a meaningful way because you believe there is no good answer.

  • It sure was something. I didn't even hate it just didn't really find it grounbreaking either and in a time where most movies are just remakes, reboots and resurrected dead franchises that still sell merch...

I'm actually kinda fine with the crazy old man making a passion project about how stupid and vapid people with money are.

It least it kept some jobs alive and supported his industry.

  • Well the cereal was invented cause he thought bland foods would stop you masturbating but that was clearly not working so he leaned back into foreskin hoarding.

I am not kidding as much as that sentence would make it seem.

  • Sure stop pandering to the wealthy and make plans to support and lift the general populace in all areas and you will stop being "woke".
And guess what, the best way to pay for it is to get the fair share of taxes back from those that are avoiding paying completely by paying lawmakers privately.

    Wow, so easy, much fun.

  • Yet another failed actor/actress.

Its a weird thing now so much if the right wing is filled with people who so desperately want to be special a D seen as so by everyone else but will shift to willing to take any path to get there.

Its like they thought those were the easiest ways to get fame and money and that is as far as the thought went and it works when your leader is this gross but in your corner.

Want to know why the kids are turning conservative? This feels like why. They see they need to drop morals to get what they want and they have been told what they want is fame and money or they will never be happy.

  • Everyone in here with personal large TVs and surround systems throwing the curve.

Honestly when I was in walking distance to a theater I liked (they served like pizza fries and other meal items for a good price) I went all the time. I was willing to go for movies I was less excited about rather than waiting it out cause giving up 4 hours of my time for an ok movie after driving, trailers and everything else plus cost is definitely less appealing.

I definitely think cost and spare money to spend on nice things other than food is a huge component of this all but I also would just like ease of participating.

Both time and money have felt like very precious resources in these new terrifying gilded ages.

  • Restrictions on ammunition purchases and storage.

Buy your gun but ammo is purchased and used on site of the firing range. Have a separate license or multiple for home storage that requires proof of purchase of a storage spot for it and has a limit on what can be purchased in a year with random checks for those with the license.

People can have their guns and even a full round or clip but it limits the extent of firing they can do. It's basically a tweak of what several other countries already do.

  • No no. See the Democrats need to only hyper focus on specific groups or even just specific counties in states cause their brother they paid 3 million dollars to to consult on their campaign said their intern ran a computer model and decided that was a group they could pick up more votes in. And don't you know hyper specific identity politics is clearly more superior to general pro-citizen policies that would support a wider populace cause aiming for a wide audience is something only Republicans can do.

We just have to be excited for the flavor of the week getting their extra attention and hyper specific to the point of unhelpful policies if we vote DNC.

  • We see the same movie where they ADRed like every other scene and the only thing to get any kind of story payoff is CPR because its solution to a firework to the face?

We have different definitions of bad. That much more ey and effort and that result is bad to me.

  • We aren't allowed to critique strategy or work together to better ourselves or our plans with outside views that allow us to see and adjust to match an ever changing world...

That would be so bad for my social media feed. The algorithm would have to completely relearn what I like and that would be a hassle.

We're All Gonna Die I Official Trailer | RocketJump

This is from the same RocketJump of Freddie Wong YouTube fame and will be having apparently a very limited (as of now) one day running theaters on March 7th.

I think it looks so interesting. I love me some indie sci-fi films.

Using a "legitimate reason" to be apathetic to other people's suffering, doesn't make you less of an asshole

The amount of people who are all giving "reasons" why they are gonna be ok to treat others with contempt and apathy towards any suffering just means you wanted an excuse to not care all along, not that you are morally superior.

You will still look like an asshole to anyone that isn't informed and to the people who didn't agree with you in the first place.

If you actually care you keep trying, stop pretending minute crusades are anything but.

Sigh, why do people use these hygrometers?

These have to be the least accurate things I have ever seen.

The rectangular one is accurate or accurate enough and has been what I used but I noticed files all had cutouts for these round hygrometers...

Well from my 6 pack 1 is within a margin of error to even be useful.

I get they aren't expensive but seems like a waste of money for this bad.

I have a concept of a plan for desiccant spool weights

Which is to say, not very far on this at all but I think I have a good idea on how have my cake and eat it too for desiccant for my spools.

I am finding I can't get the humidity below about 50% in my AMS and the silica I am using needs constant refreshing.

Well it seems there is stuff called activated alumina that is pretty good and honestly about the same costs as silica beads, but I need to be able to put it in the oven to refresh it. Which doesn't work well with my 3d printed desiccant holders.

    Insert, cheap tea strainers.
It seems I can get ones that are 4cm in width by 6cm in height that are made out of stainless steel that I can actually put straight in the oven.

So, I am working on getting the parts and items but was wondering if anyone else has done this or have any suggestions before I start grabbing stuff?

Do I need to learn a 3D modeling software?

So, I'm trying to print some older models from thingiverse and I have discovered that basically all the files I want to print have glaring flaws in them.

Internal free floating structures, connector pieces and holes that are the exact same size... So on and so forth...

Do I need to learn a software like CAD or Blender to fix these? I seem to be able to do some basic stuff in Orca Slicer but it honestly seems like as much of a pain to modify the parts there as it would be to use a real software.

Is there one that's easier? I think I messed around with SketchUp once upon a time.

I am worried this feels like opening a can of worms just so that I can make a thing that already exists in a dozen forms better.

Trump’s victory was not a surprise if you talked to voters.

Kamala Harris was seen by many as simply continuity Joe Biden, a president who has long had a negative approval rating. When asked last month what she would have done differently from Biden, Harris answered: “There is not a thing that comes to mind in terms of – and I’ve been a part of most of the decisions that have had impact.”

There was no clear vision, no shared rage with the American people at the state of the country: if there was anything deeply wrong with the US, her campaign seemed to suggest, it was the existence of the Trumpist movement, and voting for Harris could finally turn the page on that.

The part that the Democrats missed again and again is that the issue with America is not just that people were and are willing to vote for Trump. It was never gonna be over just because he wasn't elected. Despite that being the message from large amounts of DNC leaders and commentators.

We can blame voters all we want but at millions of people that becomes a concept more than

Lemmy has made me hate people more than any other social media platform.

Truly a pretty terrible place for any kind of social activity.

People here are super self righteous and unwavering in their beliefs, quick to insult others and be generally bitchy, pedantic and quick to dogpile. Worst of all while still usually slightly wrong about a thing, but unwilling to hear it.

It's basically the worst parts of reddit users where we have boiled it down to the most affluent or socially insecure.

Even if it's as simple as a question people jump to defend their position with insults rather than answer it cause they get worried the person might be confused and it's best to just make sure it's a closed community as quick as possible.

This isn't an open community it's a private gated one where everyone jumped the fence and is scared that the wrong person might have come in with them.

    Condescending is not welcoming.
Upvoting cause they are your in group isn't community.
Berating outcasts cause you at least don't feel like them is still bullying.

Conservative Pundits, money didn't make them happy so they convince people who do need money that it wouldn't make them happy either

Most conservative pundits out there seem to all talk about how they wanted to do something specific with their life but it didn't work out.
They like to blame the current systems and government for not doing enough to make them famous or popular or cool with the youth.

They then convince a bunch of people who are also unhappy but could have a lot of their issues with lack of time and resources fixed with money, that if they are unhappy while having money dumped in their lap than these normal people will be unhappy with it too. Hoping they fix some arbitrary reason they aren't more famous.

Opinion in the room on Pop-up/Non-Permanent Greenhouses?

So, what's the general feeling on those plastic popup greenhouses?

After a particularly rough month with my plants I am considering getting a popup style plastic greenhouse for my plants.

I am kinda hoping that it would help to keep the moisture up and the shade up since a like half dozen of my peppers just got sunrot.

I have noticed my plants under my bug netting do better and my pepper plant in the ground under it doesn't have sunrot. I think it would also let me keep my pots longer in fall since in in zone 7 and cold snaps happen.

    So.... Any thoughts? Tips? Etc?

You guys have so many pretty gardens so now it's time for my ugly one.

I rent in an urban area and was given a backyard full of 6 foot tall weeds. Over the winter I managed to somewhat reduce their numbers and have been fighting them down since but also I didn't really have any money for gardening so I just went with direct inground with a bag of miracle grow for fertilizer and some cheap mulch for bedding.

Pretty much a scraps garden. I have green onions and regular onions, garlic cloves that sprouted, bell pepper and jalapenos, a potato plant, 2 basil and 3 Thai basil, a daikon scrap I'm letting flower I hopes of seeds I can plant next year, and all my beans and peas on the fence over there.

I also planted a blueberry bush that I realized I really should have kept in a pot cause I realized how long that thing is gonna grow for.

I also threw potatoes under the bush in the far back that is doing pretty good and a strawberry I won't ever be able to eat the fruit from because the critters get up earlier in the morning than me.

    Cheap IDEX 3D printer questions

So, I have always wanted to do multi filament printing. The thought of doing multicolor or washable supports has been such a cool idea and I tried to make that a reality all the way back when I bought my Geeetech A10M... And oh boy did I hate it. (Don't do single extruder multi filament kids, it ain't worth the headache.)

So, with only my trusty prusa mk2 at my side I'm thinking of finally getting an IDEX machine and trying again right this time. Then I looked at the price of the Prusa XL and died a little.

So, this is where I am gonna ask for some help.
I saw that Flashgorge is selling their Creator Pro 2 for only $400 and with a cheap upgrade for a magnetic plate seems like it would be an awesome deal even if it's a bit small of a build size.

Or I could go 3rd party and get the JGMaker Artist D Pro IDEX 3D Printer (which I have never heard of) for the same price but with a heck of a lot more build space.

Or I could swallow my pride and a shit ton of credit card payments and do
