Which distros are approved to talk about here then ?
Also, I just noticed : the issue does not occur when disabling secure boot.
Well, distros that say "is stable" and don't say "there might be some teething problems" still have problems, so this is average. Just because I was warned doesn't mean I can't talk about an issue...
I don't see any contradiction here. As long as you're using the user edition, you're still using a tested distro.
Plus, except for Ubuntu, no Debian-based distro ships Plasma 6 (Tuxedo doesn't count because Neon-based).
So, I tried this, and got a blank scren, I had to press Ctrl-Alt-F2 to log in, delete the file and reboot to go back to the initial state.
No logs appeared at boot and the logs app didn't reveal anything either.
As for the package, it was already installed : 6.3.4-0zneon+24.04+noble+release+build26
Hi,
Did you get a chance to look at my logs ?
Thank you

I'm one of those who like clicking window controls 😅 -- including an always-on-top button that I added.
Indeed, more specifically in View ➔ Appearance ➔ Custom Title Bar. Thank you !
Nope, just the laptop monitor.
are you using any sddm themes? splash screens?
Nope, all default.
Also check/share the logs (you can use ksystemlogs or gnome logs if you prefer guis).
I'm guessing you don't want the last few lines, what am I looking for ?
Do the login screens look different from one another?
Nope
KDE Neon isn't really meant as a daily driver
Why not ? It's Plasma and KDE apps on a Ubuntu LTS base with none of Canonical's crap.
And all KDE apps work on it, while other distros running KDE don't necessarily support all KDE apps, especially Discover.
I have to wait for the login screen to black out and reappear before logging in
- I start my computer ;
- The loading screen appears ;
- The login screen appears (but logging in will not work) ;
- The screen turns black with underscore ;
- The login screen reappears (logging in will finally work) ;
- I'm logged in.
It has been like that for a while, I expected this bug to be found & fixed eventually, but after running an update today, it still hasn't, which is why I'm now posting here.
So, when the login screen first appears :
- either I have time to type my password & press enter, but afterwards the login screen still disappears then reappears as if I never tried to log in ;
- or I'm still typing the password while it disappears then it reappears as if I never started typing ;
- or I wait for it to disappear & reappear, and only then I can finally log in.
What to do ?
Thank you
APT error "Conflicting values set for option Signed-By regarding source"
Hi,
I suddently encountered this error on Discover while having done nothing for it to happen :
E: Conflicting values set for option Signed-By regarding source https://packages.mozilla.org/apt/ mozilla: /etc/apt/keyrings/packages.mozilla.org.asc != /etc/apt/keyrings/org.kde.neon.packages.mozilla.org.asc E: The list of sources could not be read.
What to do ?
PS : error 2 of 2 is identical to error 1 of 2.
Thanks
Already tried from a Reddit thread : it doesn't work, but also, that window shows that the current value is already No
.
How to force GNOME apps to display KDE titlebar (even if GNOME titlebar remains, I don't care) ?
Because I customized KDE to show close/(un)maximize/minimize on the left and most importantly always on top on the right, except GNOME apps show only close and only on the right and the rest require a right-click, this is so annoying.
Basically, I want this :
To become this :

some asshole could extract/crack it and give her a massive bill [...] it will be trivial for some asshole to make a revanced patch to bypass the subscription
Hi,
I stumbled on your post looking for a ReVanced patch for Infinity, not for bypassing the subscription though : until now, I was using a fork that implements login using Reddit's official app's API, but it stopped being updated while I was getting tired of some bugs, so I was hoping for a ReVanced patch which would accomplish the same thing. There isn't, but I found one that allows you to bring your own API key, so I went with that.
Before using that fork though, I was bypassing the subscription, with Lucky Patcher : it worked fine, which, as you pointed out, means I was making the maintainer pay for me. I didn't really feel bad about that because they made the choice not to support any of the abovementioned alternatives, even though when I discovered those, I switched because I still didn't like Reddit getting that money.
Keystrokes OSD while recording with Spectacle ?
Hi,
I would like to show keyboard shortcuts being pressed while recording my screen with Spectacle on KDE neon 6.3, and I found apps that could do that but not on Wayland...
Does anyone know any ?
Thank you

Why audio output device selection at different places ?
Hi,
I was used to switching between laptop speakers and Bluetooth speaker on the normal audio menu.
But one day, I needed to use a TV's speakers through HDMI, and couldn't find it, so I initially thought it was a driver issue, but never found a fix, so I had to use a friend's Windows laptop at the last minute because people were waiting to watch something.
Today, months later, I have the same issue, but on a different laptop with more recent hardware, so I was hoping to have better luck, and I didn't... Until I accidentaly notice that the HDMI device is available under a submenu of the laptop's speakers, WTF ?
Attached to this post is a screenshot showing a Bluetooth speaker, the laptop's speakers and HDMI speakers. Why isn't the latter available at the same location as the former two ?
The submenu could be kept for selecting between 2.0/5.1/7.1, just like for Bluetooth devices it's used to select between aptX/LDAC/SBC, but I don't understand what's a whole different device doing
Allow only one Dolphin instance ?

When pressing Super-E when Dolphin is already open, I would like for the existing window to be unminimized and for a new tab to be created, rather than a new window.
How to do this ?
Thanks
Unattended remote desktop ?
Hi,
Is there any remote desktop app that works on KDE neon 6.2 with Wayland ?

How to make Flatpaked GNOME apps look okay on KDE ?
They all look bad for some reason, sometimes even completely unreadable because of the lack of padding between lines of text or dark-on-dark text color.

KDE neon 6 : "Up to date" vs "install all available updates before upgrading"
Hi,
Who's right and what to do ?
Thanks
I made a local APT repository that automatically fetches DEBs and AppImages from anywhere
On Debian-based distros, when an app is available as a DEB or an AppImage (that doesn't self-update), but no APT repository, PPA or Flatpak, the only option is to manually download each update, and usually manually check even whether there are updates.
But, what if those would be upgraded at the same time as everything else using the tools you're familiar with ?
dynapt is a local web server that fetches those DEBs (and AppImages to be wrapped into DEBs) wherever those are, then serves these to APT like any package repository does.
I started building it a few months ago, and after using it to upgrade apps on my computers and servers for some time, I pre-released it for the first time last week.
The stable version will come with a CLI wizard to avoid this manual configuration.
Feedback is welcome :)
Black OBS capture on KDE neon 6
Hi,
On KDE neon 6 using Wayland, OBS 30.1.2 is black when trying "Screen Capture (PipeWire)" or "Window Capture (PipeWire)", when launching from terminal, the following line stands out :
error: [pipewire] Error retrieving pipewire fd: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Message recipient disconnected from message bus without replying
When asking the OBS community, I'm told :
Sounds like a broken PipeWire and/or xdg-desktop-portal install. That would be a question for your distro's support channels
What to do ?
Thanks
SOLVED : the xdg-desktop-portal
package crashes since v1.18.3 (see issue report), so downgrading it fixes this.
Pourquoi, concrètement, dissoudre l'Assemblée Nationale ?
Qu'est-ce que ça apporte de le faire ? Qu'est-ce que ça apporte de ne pas le faire ?
Merci.
Install updates from Discover without password ?
Is that possible ?

"KDE neon is a Linux distribution built on top of the latest Ubuntu LTS release (22.04 at the moment)"
Hi,
KDE neon is a Linux distribution built on top of the latest Ubuntu LTS release (22.04 at the moment)
— KDE neon
Since 22.04 no longer is the latest Ubuntu LTS, is KDE neon now based on 24.04, or is it still based on 22.04 ?
It would be nice to have this info in About this System, so we wouldn't be in doubt.
Thanks
