  • I'll look into it, but it seems like it only supports windows.

Thank you for the compliment. A lot of these shots are less than stellar because I had to be quick, usually, and I haven't really gotten that down too well.

  • I use a fork of rawtherapee called ART. It just changes the UI around a bit.

I only tried Darktable once. I loaded up a beach shot, and the RAW file had a lot of colors that looked so wildly different from the cameras preview (I know that the preview has its own process for displaying images) that following troubleshooting tips I searched for weren't able to completely correct how it looked. It was a very violet-tinged sunset. ART typically started somewhere infelt more comfortable working from. I'm sure I could give it another shot.

  • This has given me a lot to think about. Thank you! I felt the saturation I had used had been a bit much, but I was aligning the scheme somrwhat with a previous photo that contained a sign in the shot where the JPG managed to capture a vibrant red I was trying to re-create in my edit. I'd completely forgotten I'd had a small amount of success with color corrections once before, and I bet that would work wonders so I don't have to amp up the saturation so much.

Edit: Yeah, sorry about the image scaling. I'd done it on the original JPG when I was sending it out to someone, so I just made the others scaled down to match.

New to Photography and Digital Editing

Right now, at least for this type of shooting I was doing, I was going more for subtle editing. However, I'm new to both photography and editing. I've set my Rebel T7 to shoot both high-def JPG and RAW because some pictures I've taken I haven't wanted to touch up a lot for one reason or another.

I'm dipping back into editing, and was hoping for some input into shooting tips and editing the photos.

This is the JPG the camera generated.

This was my first RAW edit. Untouched white balance with increased saturation, vibrancy, and a little noise reduction.

This is the next RAW edit wher

  • I've been cutting back on caffeine finally because I thought it was my medicine giving me anxiety, and I'm pretty sure it's the caffeine. Now I'm usually at about two cups of coffee in the morning (the mug I have is American large, and I always seem to fill it up).

  • I don't do IT, I troubleshoot aviation electrical and avionics systems, and the practice still holds true. "Why are you checking what I already verified?" "Just trying to make sure I'm on the same page as you. It helps me in my own weird way" is a great way to defuse their agitation sometimes.

  • Imperial rule

  • Star Wars is supposed to be palatable to children, and my guess is that those types of politics muddy the waters too much for kids to grasp. Simplistic and clear "good vs evil" lines appeal to wider audiences.

  • We can see how well just trying to vote them away is working. Fascists use violence to silence adversaries. All they understand is violence. You will never "moral high ground" a fascist into understanding the error of their ways.

  • I know exactly who you are. You are the lived experience of many vegans of the person that pretends to know more than us, as if every single person who went vegan didn't have a deep personal conflict with themselves before deciding to align their morality with their lifestyle. You know very little, yet try to advocate against us on our own perceived behalf, using your own sister like some sort of "I have a (insert group here) so I definitely know things". I don't need to understand you because I was you. The difference is that at some point, I was willing to acknowledge I didn't know enough about the moral vacancy of the situation and decided to learn more. The more I learned, the more I grew disgusted with our systemic murder of sentient life and how we didn't need this destructive mechanism to survive in any way, shape, or form.

  • You can stop pretending that you're trying to advocate for people in food-starved areas. Veganism, believe it or not, has never actually been about trying to force people in marginalized areas to adopt a vegan diet. Veganism is about harm reduction, full stop. The people who appeal to veganism are the same people who can make those choices in any grocery store that they go to, whether they live in a food desert or not. Personally, I don't live in an area that's considered vegan-friendly. However, I find myself to be okay with that purely because I know for a fact that my decisions aren't reliant on convenience alone.

  • I love how micromanaging nutrition only ever comes up when veganism is mentioned. Do you think people who gorge themselves on steak and cheeseburgers are inherently healthier than someone with a vegan diet because they consume animal protein? You might be shocked to learn that the densest source of protein doesn't come from an animal.

EDIT: You DO have local sources available to you. It's in the same grocery store you buy slaughtered animals from.

  • Many sources of protein

You think vegans just eat blocks of tofu all day? My diet has never been more varied and flavorful than when I went vegan. Every single environmental impact study says animal agriculture is a bane to our continued existence, and it goes so far beyond that. Our lands and crops are swallowed up by this ever-rotating machine of suffering and murder that affects the lives of billions of land animals every year, which die terrified and in pain. No "varied protein" myth is worth so much suffering.

    Epic Executive Dysfunction

This particular habit I've been cultivating for over five months. I stopped for a week because I was insanely busy, and I'm taking a break from my medication. I couldn't motivate myself to do it after going off, and I was worried I was only doing it because I was medicated. I'm happy to say I'm doing it today to prove myself wrong.
