  • Yeah that would make sense, still a neat experiment.

  • Cartels CIA

  • They are also nearly impossible to replace.

  • It doesn't even bother me to call Americans evil I was just saying we need to actually do something to harness the resentment that does very much exist instead of just saying oh well they are still evil.

  • It certainly is not at all about my feelings on the matter I was only saying they were correct that a lot of people are turning against this and if they are not doing anything about that is where our job comes in.

  • We did make a hybrid tomato/potato but that wasn't exactly genetic modification it's just grafting. It could be a great space saving technique though.

  • I fucking love science

  • We talk every day about how Israelis are an evil people.

I didn't even say they are not lmao. All I said is that broad categorizations as such are not really productive in the end and Americans are a much larger population with many more contradictions than the Israelis.

    Simple.

America is anything but. Are you lumping in all African Americans, Latin Americans, etc. who are fighting their own internal colonial struggle against the genocidal empire?

  • Yeah sure, Americans should sit around and wait

I literally said the opposite, that we are lagging and that is a moral failing and the person you were responding to was wrong for saying that resistance cannot come from within. People do oppose this and we need to leverage that. I don't know what you are arguing at here but you are doing a textbook strawman here.

  • I mean we still can it's even closer to reality now...

  • That's a great addition. I first reposted this copypasta from someone else on reddit like 7 years ago lol I just changed the year from 2020 to 2027

  • I'm not dismissing your rightful anger, just saying I think you were misreading the comment, though they were wrong in their analysis.

We are a very misguided and propagandized people and the thing they are describing is real. People do not like this but are also complicit because they too lack critical analysis of the thing they oppose. That does not mean they do not oppose it though. They just don't know how to oppose it. They do however know that it is bad and should be opposed.

Simply pointing out complicity without offering up anything more in terms of a call to action doesn't really do anything.

  • Jesus returns in 2027. Once again, he’s brown and Jewish.

He immediately begins performing miracles. He cures diseases and removes lead piping in poor communities. He creates water and food which he leaves in deserts near the border. He breaks bread with trans people, sex workers, and other undesirables. He speaks out against foreign wars and gay conversion therapy. He advocates for showing mercy to people fleeing violence and poverty. People wake up one day to find their guns transformed into farm equipment. Smelling an opportunity, Trump hammers Jesus on Twitter as a socialist agitator helping “invaders” to “destroy America.” Sean Hannity does an hour-long special debunking his miracles and discussing how his agenda is anti-American and meant to undermine Christianity. Jerry Falwell Jr. leads a movement of evangelical pastors denouncing him from pulpits across the nation.

Eventually, Jesus is arrested for providing healthcare without a license, leaving food and water in the desert, protesting outside a free speech zone, destruction of property, and eventually sedition and terrorism. His followers are placed on an FBI watchlist. Following a short trial, he is convicted and sentenced to death. Smelling another opportunity, Trump gives the American people the opportunity to choose whether he should pardon Jesus, or a Border Patrol officer convicted of murdering migrants. Following a social media campaign, a coalition led by the religious and political right manages to swing the vote. The Border Patrol officer is pardoned, and immediately begins a campaign for state senate in Arizona.

Because of drug shortages, Jesus is executed using an experimental electric cross. The ensuing earthquakes and eclipse are interpreted as God’s displeasure with the gay agenda. A selfie of a prison guard inserting the muzzle of his AR-15 into a hole burned into Jesus’ side goes viral. Republican voters start a trend of getting this scene as a tattoo, which is good for discounts at friendly businesses. Iran deploys several low-yield nuclear weapons in response to a US invasion, producing a strain of stinging scorpion-locusts which decimate crop yields. Several new diseases develop in starving refugee camps.

Thanks in part to voters mobilized by the trial and execution, as well as fears of deteriorating global security, Trump is reelected by narrow margins. Falwell Jr. is inspired to declare him the second coming of the messiah.

  • Sure let me just rig up a suicide vest and go blow up my local town hall, that will surely be productive.

People want to do something but telling a single individual they are complicit - while possibly technically correct - isn't really helpful. We are severely lagging behind on organizing against this but lashing out at the few of us the care the most about this shit is unproductive imo. They are definitely wrong that only outside force can stop this and on that I will concede you are correct, there just is a much better way to make this argument.

  • Oh yeah same thing applies, gotta have major full body strength and precision muscle memory to be on the bottom of a pyramid or throwing folks 8-9 feet straight up.

Also why skaters are badasses. All three sports involve fighting gravity and the earth without killing yourself. One of my coworkers used to be a professional cheerleader and she works in sales now because she suffered a spinal fracture in a cheerleading accident.

  • Jesus that's vile. I had a small group chat on Tuesday with that same manager from this meeting, one of their marketing guys, and one of the three sales rep I am the full time assistant/backup for because his sales dropped a tiny bit but mostly because a chain store account of his that brought us a lot of business closed down. They were extremely chill and reasonable about it though, and basically just wanted to look at some of the discounts we were still giving to customers whose had been not purchasing as much as in the past.

Basically they wanted to slightly lower their admittedly pretty fat discount for how little volume they were pulling from us, and offer small increase in discounts for our bigger clients. They talked a lot about rapport building and trust too, but only in the context of being able to better serve them and their business in a more mutually beneficial way.

I'm always happy to help boost sales especially when I know my customers and what kind of stuff moves well for them and in general based on market trends. Like "hey this third party vendor product is offering us a big manufacturing discount, I can give an extra x off on this product right now if you want to bump up y product that is blowing up on tiktok right now" or like, "hey this is out of stock from this vendor and has been for a while, would you like to try this one that we manufacture on site? You will get a much better profit margin since you're buying it direct and I'll even give you half a case for half price and a free sample of your choice if you want to bring in any of our items you don't yet carry." And customers love that shit.

So yeah real mixed bag, but there is a side of the job that actually is rewarding despite being in the belly of the beast of a massive corporation.

They are also very clear about protecting their very large portion of immigrants and folks with checkered pasts from the feds and cops. Hell one of the women in my office is rad as fuck and a comrade who literally has a warrant for her arrest for some bullshit in socal and they still gave her a job knowing this, which is actually unironically pretty based for a company like this.

  • Yeah I try to be the best I can as the first one. It actually pissed me off how they led with that video because it is entirely the opposite of why my customers like me and trust me.

  • This company isn't quite that bad it was just the video that my department manager chose to start this call was antithetical to the only good things about this place. Rest of the meeting has been much less soulless.

  • That Bill Hicks bit about marketing just screaming in my mind rn
