I figured this out recently! Visit all of the Board Games shops and card game shops in your town and find a group that meets publicly and plays board games.
If you don't like Board Games, go do an outdoor hobby like disc golf and join other groups.
The board game meet ups have been fantastic because you can just focus on the board game and you don't have to get a bunch of anxiety trying to come up with small talk. It can just happen organically overtime at your comfort level.

I might be biased, but my very first (and only) kitty that I got at eight weeks old is still alive. She turns 17 in July. She was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism a year ago. A couple weeks ago she was diagnosed with small cell lymphoma (cancer) in her intestines.
Money is probably the determining factor for life expectancy because figuring out she had cancer in her intestines set me back $3000. 😅 Now that she's on medication though, she is as lively as ever and is gaining a bunch of weight back which is fantastic 😊

Also get them something better than Purina. I'm sure that Purina dry kibble is full of carbohydrates and doesn't have very much protein if you look at the dry matter basis. If you don't know what dry matter basis is, you've got some homework to do.
Try purée. It's the only kind my cat will eat. It's a texture thing. She doesn't know what to do with the big chunks in regular cat food.

The short explanation is the nutritional facts on pet food includes its water weight, which makes the other percents like protein and fat on the packaging effectively pointless and impossible to compare from one product to the next, and they almost never include the ash and carbohydrate content. What you need is the dry matter basis, which is the percent breakdown excluding the water.
So what to do?
