  • That duck is really inbread…

  • Kiki is a great suggestion, I’m “mad” I didn’t think of it.

  • I’m mainly a fantasy reader so your mileage may vary, but His Majesty’s Dragon by Naomi Novik was a lot of fun when I read it years ago. It’s basically what if there was a dragon Air Force during the Napoleonic Wars.

Psalm for the Wild Built by Becky Chambers and Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree were both super fun and cozy.

If you prefer a more mysterious bent, The Maid by Nina Prose and The Dog Sitter Detective by Antony Johnston were both fun.

  • I had less time to read this week than I hoped because I’ve been putting preliminary stuff together for this year’s bingo challenge as well as getting and assembling a 3D printer.

I’m still on Operation Bounce House by Matt Dinniman as well as my re-listen through of Dungeon Crawler Carl. I’m now on The Gate of the Feral Gods.

  • Oh believe me I’m trying. I will usually cross-post things I’m selling, but I don’t get anywhere near the interest I’m my 104,000 person statistical area.

  • I am so upset that FB killed Craigslist, that is basically the only reason I use it regularly anymore. My feed has basically been taken over by right wing influencer bots otherwise.

  • Did you ever read the tie-in novels?

  • I had a lot of big emotions with this book.

  • It depends on your preferences. I tend not to read a lot of Horror because it as a genre is something I don’t vibe with, but I have read a few because the writing or storytelling were solid. Hollow Places was like that for me.

If you tend to vibe more with Fantasy, give Paladin’s Grace a try. (Unless a romance aspect will turn you off). Alternatively, A Wizards Guide to Baking is enjoyable and shorter.

  • I have an Anbernic RG556 and we just got our kids (9 & 11) Retroid Pockets.

If I’d did it again, I’d have gotten myself a Retroid instead, but it was a close call, I just like the Retroid software choices a tiny bit more, though the Anbernic is very comfortable to play.

As an aside, when we gave our kids the pockets, I put 5 games on it and put a big “price*” on getting new games. Right now they are working through some classic Game Boy carts.

*-Think chores, et al. I’m trying to recreate the experience of having limited games unless you saved up to buy a new one. I also make them do one smaller task if they want to call the “helpline” since there was a cost to call the Nintendo Power helpline that I had to cover if I wanted to call.

  • I am a book four of my audiobook re-read version of Dungeon Crawler Carl before the eighth book comes out in May. I just wanted to hear the audiobooks because they are done so well.

I also just finished A Sorceress Comes to Call by T. Kingfisher. (All she writes is great) And now I’m moving onto Operation Bounce House by Matt Dinniman, who I will be seeing on Thursday for a signing.

Can anyone explain this? I’m losst.

  • Honestly, it’s the best of the bunch.

  • But what a good choice that is.

  • Ghost Story is contentious, it’s just such a huge change of pace from the typical book in the series, and much more introspective. I enjoy it more and more each time I read it though.

  • I really enjoy all of Pullman’s books, but I haven’t read any of the new dust books. I’m curious to jump in.

  • It had been a bit since my last read through, but As song as you recall the 2 prior books you should be good. Enjoy, I really did.

  • I have been sitting here for five minutes to try and figure out how to describe it…

And the best I can do is tell you that it is very emotionally raw and it’s probably not the type of book that most people would be able to just sit down and read cover-to-cover. It’s sooo good.

If you remember the 2000’s you’re probably old enough to know who most of these are.
