  • Haven't they had major issues with the OneUI 7 rollout on other devices? I don't think this has anything to do with OneUI being "bloated" as others are saying, like you my family has many mid-range Samsungs and none of them ever had performance issues. Last year's weren't anywhere near this bad, either. To me it sounds like something is seriously fucked up with OneUI 7, which these new phones are launching with, and that is the major reason why it the weaker chipsets are suddenly struggling.

  • Weird, I don’t remember that being in the article when I read it.

It's from a different article, that's why I linked it at the end of the quote.

is there precedent for Nintendo going after people who sell Jailbroken devices without copyrighted content on them?

Not that I'm aware of. Companies are generally much more concerned about distribution rather than usage, as the former has greater potential to affect them financially. That's why they try to shut down modding projects, go after re-sellers, threaten people who share (seed/host) pirated content, etc. It's much more efficient than trying to target individual users one-by-one. In adjacent industries, like the film and music industries, companies target torrent site owners and seeders rather than people who only download pirated content. The definitions and legal precedents around copyright law in particular countries can also make it difficult for companies to go after individual users. Basically every single case I have seen in the decades I've been following this stuff involved people who were trying to make money or distribute publically.

  • Better to get an older phone and hold onto it.

That's sort of how they've marketed their phones over the years. Fairphone exists as a fairer alternative to brand new phones, but the company has always been quite clear that the most environmentally friendly phone you have is your current one and that you should keep it for as long as realistically possible.

  • I actually thought Albanese won this one pretty clearly. Dutton got absolutely shit on by Speers on nuclear and climate change and all the international relations/foreign affairs stuff played right into Labor's hands, which is bizarre considering it's one of Dutton's favourite topics and supposed strengths. Imagine having to actually apologise for an IR blunder during the live debate where you are trying to portray yourself as a strong leader on the global stage.

  • No reason? The XZ1 Compact only came with 32 GB of internal storage. If I wanted to use that phone, 32 GB was it. You seem to have extreme difficulty understanding the very simple concept that not everyone wants or needs the same things as you in life. We aren't all you, we don't all want to live like you. You're not the main character.

  • The convicted man, identified as 58-year-old transportation businessman Fumihiro Otobe, was implicated in violating Nintendo’s trademark rights for soldering modchips to secondhand Switch motherboards and peddling them online for roughly $195 USD. The modified consoles are reported to have been bundled with 27 pirated games, but it’s unclear how many devices Otobe sold before being caught. Polygon (15/04/25)

As always, if you don't try to make money from, and/or distribute, pirated content then you have nothing to worry about. You haven't lost anything, you will still be able to modify your own Switch.

  • Let’s stop defending companies

Let's stop making strawman arguments. Nowhere did I "defend companies", I talked about my own experience using a 32 GB phone. It is enough for me. Nothing you say can will change how I use my phone or what I require out of it.

  • I just explained all the ways in which a 32 GB phone is sufficient for my needs, with room to spare. Not everyone is glued to their phone 24/7, some of us still just use them as basic tools and 32 GB is enough storage for that.

  • The word hasn't seen widespread use as a "disability slur" for a very long time. The great irony of this very vocal online minority continuing to fake offence and turn it into a political left vs right thing is that they are actually trying to take us back to the world in which the word has real power. If they were genuinely concerned about the word then they would just shut the fuck up and let it exist as the generic insult it has become.

  • 32 GB is enough for phone calls, messaging, internet (social media, email, browsing), banking, 2FA, news, shopping, calendar, weather, podcasts, music and video streaming, navigation, basic camera usage, etc. I used an XZ1 Compact with Android 14 for a large chunk of last year and only used 23 GB of the 32 GB with all of this and more.
