  • In DnD, there are many ways of approaching character creation. You can make a serious character with a deep background which influences the story and play style... Or you can completely ignore all that and just make a goofy little guy. You will usually get some mixture of both in most DnD groups.

So the first two characters are discussing their serious background and their motivations and then the other two are just like "I am a fancy lil frog nobel." and "I'm a farmer!"

  • Doesn't necessarily mean that. Look at his last show, Primal. It was rated for mature audiences, but I certainly wouldn't call it gross animation or gross humor.

Edit: I just looked and saw it had a Y-14 rating, which is surprisingly low considering everything that happens in it.

  • Seems like this is one of those things that women think will make men uncomfortable, but really winds up making their day because men are so starved of positive connection that even a neutral commentary on their life is refreshing because that means someone is paying attention to them.

  • No you stupid motherfucker, of course it's not true, use your god damn head! Media literacy is fucking dead. Fucking smooth-brained, tik-tok rotted, ipad kids; stop falling for the most blatantly false BS!

  • I would like to remind everyone, as people seem to keep forgetting, Tesla means nothing to Elon. It could go to zero and it wouldn't affect him.

Twitter, or X, means nothing to Elon. It could collapse and shut down and it wouldn't affect him.

SpaceX is his baby. Nothing even comes close. Starlink alone guarantees he will always be one of the richest men in the world.

  • I mean if you want to stick your head in the sand and lie to yourself, then sure.

Look at a few of the recent top images in [email protected] and try to tell me that many of them don't look good. I'm sorry, but you are fucking delusional if you can't even admit that some AI models can, in fact, make impressively good looking images.

If you want to argue the morals of AI art, then yes, let's have that conversation. But to try and dismiss all of it by saying it doesn't even look good is just pathetic and willfully ignorant of reality. You want so desperately to believe that AI could never create something that looks good that you have deluded yourself into ignoring the truth.

The technology is growing, and it will leave you behind.

Like, fuck, man; am I just supposed to pretend like this isn't beautiful?

Or that this isn't cute and funny?

Am I not allowed to look at things like this and acknowledge that it's far better than anything I could produce without dedicating decades of my life to the pursuit of art?

  • Oh yea, really "crushing" MAGA. Every morning, MAGA supporters wake up in tears going "oh why won't the mean Canadians buy our stuff? I'm now really regretting my vote and my support of Trump!"

Oh wait. They don't do any of that. They're still frothing at the mouth in support of Trump and are happier than pigs in shit that their side is "winning".

  • People don't spend money to go see "new" shit, but do spend money to see rehashed "safe" shit, so why would studios bother trying to make anything else.

Like it or not, money talks. And the public has overwhelmingly said this is what they prefer.

  • Still unknown, especially considering if you zoom out even a tiny bit from that carefully cropped picture, you'll see that the soil in that area is pretty much the same color. That picture is also from 2023.

The lack of investigative reporting into this really shows how shit the entire journalism field has become.

  • Man, I don't even know where to get truthful news anymore. I try to keep up with both sides so I know what their narratives are, and stories like this one are fucking impossible to get to the truth of. Either way, it's fucking horrific that people are being sent to Death Camps without any kind of due process, but the amount of misinformation doesn't help.

Is he openly violating the Supreme Court, or did the Supreme Court decide "facilitate" means nothing can be done if El Salvador doesn't want to release him? Even reading the order directly, it's not clear. If Trump is NOT absolutely violating a direct Supreme Court order, then isn't continuing to focus on it a distraction from the bigger issue?

Is he an innocent father, or was he a twice convicted gang member who was awaiting a trial that he was likely to be found guilty of anyways? Or were those convictions not actually convictions and only claims from a dubious source?

Is he an El Salvador citizen? If so, why was he rounded up with a bunch of Venezuelans?

Again, nothing is right about this situation, but I'm also sick of the waters being so muddy that I don't even know what's true anymore.

Why isn't steam from power plants harnessed, condensed, and used to power gravity fed water turbines?

Is it just a matter of not being worth it? I see cooling towers releasing what appears to be a ton of steam, pretty high up. If that steam were captured at the top and allowed to condense, wouldn't that result in a ton of water with a lot of gravitational potential energy? That water could then be released and used to power water turbines. Maybe I'm overestimating the amount of water being released as steam, or underestimating how much is needed to spin a water turbine to get a meaningful result, but it seems like wasted energy to me.

What's the best way of planning a route for a moving van on a cross-country (US) trip?

I'm moving across the country in a few weeks and am trying to plan my route as I'll be driving a moving van with a car towed behind it. The entire drive will be 16-17 hours.

Google maps seems limited for searching everything I'd want to take into account for the route (pull through gas stations, height requirements, avoiding mountain highways, etc.) and was wondering if anyone knew of a better way to plan out the trip?
