And I also hope they allow for quick incremental changes instead of aiming for the perfect solution right away that will take a decade to develop and implement. Just to be clear, I think it should be the far goal to be fully independent from US and other non-EU software.

  • Hatte das gleiche Szenario. Habe die Weihnachtsfeier genutzt auf Linux zu wechseln. Habe mich damals für Nobara entschieden und das hat super geklappt. Nur das Koppeln des Dual-Sense Controllers hat mehrere Abläufe gebraucht. Kann ich also sehr empfehlen.

    So wie ich es damals verstanden habe ist SteamOS tatsächlich hauptsächlich auf das Handheld ausgelegt und weniger auf Desktop PCs.

  • Sehe nicht, wo hier Arbeitslose gegen Rentner ausgespielt werden. Es ist doch ein wichtiger Hinweis, dass vom Bundeshaushalt ca 55 Mrd für Arbeitslose und Geringverdiener ausgegeben werden aber 140 Mrd für Rentenzuschüsse. Zusammen mit den 300 Mrd der Rentenversicherung kommt man dann auf Ausgaben von 440 Mrd Euro. Selbst wenn man das Bürgergeld um die Hälfte (völlig unrealistisch) kürzt hat man nicht Mal 7 % dessen eingespart, was in die Rente fließt. Das zeigt ja nur wie sinnlos diese Debatte um die Grundsicherung ist, da sich dadurch die Sozialabgaben kaum verringern lassen. Einzige Lösung kann da nur sein, wie von dir angesprochenen, an den Einnahmen etwas zu ändern und andere Einnahmequelle anzuzapfen.

  • Ja, die Seite ist super gemacht. War positiv überrascht, wie gut man sich da informieren kann, wo der Bundeshaushalt ausgegeben wird. Hilft echt dabei mal alles in die Perspektive zu rücken.

    Edit: Am meisten erstaunen mich immer wieder die Ausgaben für Verteidigung. Öffentlich wird immer über 2% oder 5% gesprochen. Allerdings wird nicht gezeigt, dass es sich dabei immer um % des BIP handelt und nicht des Haushalts, der nur eine Bruchteil des BIP ausmacht und aktuell schon 15% des Haushalts in Verteidigung fließen.

  • Everyone was happy when they could outsource dirty and labor-intensive jobs to China and benefit from the cheap products. China gladly took on these tasks and built a monopoly. Now, it is the sole source for most minerals and rare earth elements because everyone else stopped producing them. China is now moving up the value chain, processing these raw materials into higher-value products. However, the world has become so dependent on China’s mineral supplies that countries cannot block trade with China without risking their own production halts, since China could also stop selling the materials they rely on. This is already happening with rare earth minerals and other critical resources like tungsten.

    Only way put of this would be a long time strategic investment into local manufacturing capacities, but it will cost a lot and take a lot of time. And China will dump the prices until those companies go out of business again and then we are back at the start. Happened with solar, is happening with batteries, I wonder what will be next...

  • Ich finde Nutriscore ja eigentlich eine schöne Sache, wenn es einem hilft vielleicht mal die gesündere Variante aus dem benachbarten Regalbrett zu wählen. Aber welchen Sinn ergibt denn ein Nutriscore bei Öl? Es ist Öl, mit Öl drin. Kenne kein Öl das ungesunde Mengen Zucker enthält oder kalorienreduziertes Öl, wo man dann vielleicht mal ein Glas mehr von trinken kann. Das ist Öl, wo man eine Spritzer an den Salat oder in die Pfanne haut und gut ist.

  • Potato-Pea Mash (Kartoffel-Erbsen-Durcheinander)

    Preparation time: 35 minutes

    Ingredients:

    • 800 g floury potatoes
    • 1 onion
    • 2 tbsp olive oil
    • 700 ml vegetable broth
    • 400 g frozen peas
    • Salt
    • Tarragon
    • Olive oil (for drizzling)

    Instructions:

    1. Peel the potatoes and cut them into small cubes. Peel and dice the onion.
    2. Heat the oil in a pot with 2 tbsp of water, sauté the onions and potatoes, then deglaze with vegetable broth.
    3. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
    4. Add the peas and cook uncovered for another 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    5. Drain the cooking liquid and reserve it.
    6. Coarsely mash the potatoes and peas, adding some of the cooking liquid if needed for a creamy texture.
    7. Season with salt and tarragon, and drizzle with olive oil.

  • Thanks for the explanation. So it works similar to the system partition on windows. I somehow struggle a little to understand the role of distribution. When researching how to install Linux, it seemed like an important choice with lots of differences between the various distributions. Some are based on arch, some fedora or ubuntu. It seems like all need different types of packages to install software. And so on. A little ironic, that this is less a problem when running Windows executables through a compatibility layer like wine.

  • Thanks for the detailed reply. I will try to follow your advice the next time, I run into problems.

    I thought it might be a bigger problem with mint, because eldenring is not a new game and i also found posts of people running it on Linux without any problems about 3 years ago. So I figured it should run well with the state of the art version of things without having to update to any special new versions.

    You mentioned distro swapping. So far I deleted all partition when installing a new distribution. (Happened only once, and i did not setup a lot before the new install) Can i just switch the distro without having to redownload every game as long as i do have them on another partition or are they kind of dependent on the used distribution?
