I personally would never use mineral fertilizer for soil, not even my potted plants.

With that, you can create your nutrient solutions WAY quicker and don't have to measure anything.
I have made it that one shot per watering can equals the exact dosing recommendations for the final nutrient solution, with the extra benefit that the fertilizer doesn't spoil.

Is there a correlation between this leaf breaking off my banana tree and the (probably) powdery mildew infection?
The plant itself looks very healthy imo.
This leaf has already been breaking off slowly over the last week(s) or so. It's one of, if not the lowest one, and I belive the stem is just growing so fast and thick that it might have been just ripped apart, so I don't worry about it.
Today, I noticed some powder residue sitting on the upper area, mainly the stem.
I highly suspect a fungal infection, most probably powdery mealdew.
And I mostly believe that it is just a stress symptom of the plant. I trimmed off quite a few roots and also forgot to water it a few times over the last weeks, because it's just SO thirsty due to all the sun it's getting now in the spring.
It sits in a hydroponic medium (semi hydro with LECA) and has been extremely healthy over the last few months. Still, this, and the high humidity fluctuations (one week 20%, the other one 80%!) were super stressful for it, so I don't wonder myself about this.

But yeah, you're right! What works even better imo is to stick it into LECA instead of water, which keeps everything moist and aerated, and prevents rotting issues
Wouldn't the heat and radiation destroy all flavor compounds and colour?

My Maranta leuconora is shooting out air roots like crazy.
I already looked if others use moss poles for them, but I couldn't find anyone using moss poles for this plant.
My experience tells me, that it might benefit from one. Would you agree?

I grow this plant in semi hydro (mineralic substrate/ LECA), and I don't want to have something organic, like wood or sphagnum moss, near it.
Do you have any alternatives, that fit the same use but don't utilise organic substrates?
The idea is following: Let's say the fertilizer tells you to use it once a month, so you currently add a big amount (the recommendation on the label) at once, and water the rest only with plain water weekly for example.
This creates a lot of stress, and the plant has to use it up completely until you dose again in 4 weeks.
Instead, you fertilize with 1/4 every time, but water your plant 4 times a month, which spreads it out better. Continuous feeding doesn't dehydrate the roots as much.
Also, don't forget to discard the leftover nutrient solution every few weeks or months, since it contains lots of waste.
Fertilizer could very well be an issue, I don't really have any idea how much fertilizer my plants need and just give them a all a bit biannually (usually in the fall and spring).
Then that's the problem. You don't "fertilize" with LECA, you add the nutrients to the water every time, giving you more consistent conditions.
If you only add fertilizer from time to time, you'll get a huge amount of it instantly, too much.
Try using 1/4 strength for the darker season, and 1/2 strength in growing season to every irrigation water, and remember to flush it from time to time, around every or every second month, depending on how much it grew.
Remember to use a fertilizer that also has micronutrients, preferably one that's made for hydro. The best option would be to use a two part fertilizer with rain water.
I see that the plants are growing in LECA. Is that new for them? Did you transition them to hydro? If so, how long ago?
For me, it looks like a problem with the roots. I'd say either root rot or too much fertilizer.

Media pause/ playback not working anymore with KDE Connect in Firefox. How can I fix this?
I've noticed this issue for a few weeks now, but hoped that it is just a bug and will be fixed soon.
Sadly, this doesn't seem to be the case, so I decided to post this issue here to find solutions.
When I play a YouTube video for example, it shows me everything that's playing right now, and the current status (paused/ playing).
Sadly, I can't manually stop or resume it with my phone, which sucks because I then have to get my lazy ass up the couch and pause it on my laptop a few meters away :D
Or, I have to unlock the phone and use the remote input feature, which is annoying too...
I already checked the Flatpak permissions, the settings in KDE Connect (both on my PC and phone) and looked up on the internet for that problem, where I found both too much and nothing at the same time.
I think it's because of Firefox, because if I play a song on Spotify for example, it works fine.
Do you experience this issue too? How could I fix it?

What's your fertilizing and flushing routine?
It may be possible that you don't have a "real" deficiency, but a nutrient lockout due to wrong pH or imbalance of salts.
The lower leafes are most affected, so it seems like a deficiency of mobile nutrients like nitrogen or magnesium for example. The leafes are also drooping, which might indicate an oxygen defiency (overwatering), as you already mentioned.
Did you measure the EC or pH? What did it tell?
How does you setup look like? Does the plant stand in a cache pot, or directly in the outer white one? How high is your nutrient solution level usually? Do you use a water level indicator?
And where is it located? Does it receive enough light?
Removing the rotten parts that radically was a great idea :)

Ich liebe es, für Lemmy Content zu erschaffen. Ich mag die Plattform, ich mag die Leute, und ich mag es, mit den Leuten hier zu interagieren.
Ich will, dass Lemmy (und das Fediverse natürlich als Ganzes) langfristig Erfolg hat. Und dafür braucht es Inhalte. Dafür will ich meinen Teil dazu beitragen.
Momentan ist es so, dass ich, und bestimmt auch viele andere hier, sehr viel auf Englisch mache, weil ich damit am meisten Reichweite habe und es auch dort am meisten Interesse gibt, z.B. muss ich nicht für jeden Furz eine eigene Community erstellen, weil woanders schon jemand anderes schneller war ;)
Ich finde aber insbesondere feddit.org am tollsten, besonders wegen den Leuten, und ich will die deutschsprachige Community mehr unterstützen und stärken.

I'm constantly switching between Gnome and KDE (Bluefin, Aurora, Bazzite, Kinoite, Silverblue, whatever) and I never had any issues.
The only thing that gets messed up a bit is theming, where I have to change the GTK theme, and sometimes the window buttons when I go from KDE to Gnome, which is also reverted in just one click in Gnome tweaks.

They are mainly there for co-plants that attract beneficial insects and help to improve the biodiversity of this concrete hell I live in.
This "intact" ecosystem with healthy organic living soil, beneficial plants and other stuff also has the benefit that it attracts predatory insects like ladybugs, which naturally kill any lice and other harmful pests without any pesticides.
Oh, and it looks nice, and I always can gift other people I like some flowers if the need arises, for example as a last-minute birthday present ;)

It looks quite healthy but the transition from hydro to not-hydro (geoponics, i guess?) will trigger a lot of physiological changes and internal reshuffling of nutrients. It’s inevitable.
If you click on the post I linked, you see that the plant barely had any roots left, because they were completely mush when I bought it.
The substrate you meant is called "LECA" (expanded clay balls), which wick up the hydroponic nutrient solution. It's just another form of passive hydroponics :)

Auf der Suche nach einer brauchbaren FOSS Text-To-Speech Engine hab ich mich durch ein Dickicht an Mist gewühlt und bin dabei auf Sherpa Onnx gestoßen, und holy shit ist das geil, ja leck mich fett.
Direkt mal das Navi (OSMAnd) angeworfen und meine Runde zum Einkaufen gefahren, und was soll ich sagen, der Thorsten ist mir gleich sympathisch gewesen :)
