  • Unfortunately I don’t think it’ll work here. For republicans and most supporters: cruelty is the point. They want to see their enemies lose. They revel in “liberal tears” and lust for the downfall of their adversaries. They’re sick in an emotional way. Elon is on record saying empathy is a weakness.

They’re all sociopaths. They only care about money and power for them, anything that prohibits that is an enemy.

  • That’s a bit unnecessary. I’m just pointing out people are trying to compare two things that aren’t the same.

By that logic though, I think Nintendo has a “dumb cock” for charging as much as they are for Switch 2, so I’m not really sure what it tastes like.

  • I see a lot of people ragging on the switch and comparing it to the Steam Deck. I own both but

I’m gonna say this: they’re not even direct competitors. They don’t offer the same experiences at all.

The beauty of the Switch is the ease of use, modularity of control, and communal nature of it. Even if switch online sucks, playing with other switches or 8 people in the same room with certain games is unbelievably easy. The plug and play usability and every single game you can buy from the internal store just works.

Not to mention the dock is flawless and literally easy to use. For all its problems, the switch is a surprisingly well executed idea. There’s a reason they sold hundreds of millions of them.

Steam is catching up, but there’s still a ways to go between proton compatible games, connecting controllers, plugging into a dock without having to bend down and plug a cable etc. The Switch is simply put: easy.

That said, Nintendo is stupid for pricing the Switch 2 out of the “no brainer” casual gamer territory.

  • While you’re not literally wrong adjusting for inflation, their “value proposition” is a bit out the window. It’s so close in price to comparable tech, it seems like a much more serious purchase. Nintendo hit it right with the Wii and the Switch by pricing competitively low. The Switch 2 should follow the same value quotient to be a runaway success. This is effectively what killed the Wii U. The Switch 2 could be destined to follow the same fate.

Even the mental trickery of “$399” would be more effective than “$449” for Nintendo in the long run. They have to question whether that $50 is worth losing marketshare. I think if they are keeping the game prices and (potentially) the cost of services like online higher than the entry point of buying the system should be lower.

  • That pricing is really putting Nintendo out of its core market. The reason the Switch was an absolute smash is because it was and remained accessibly priced. The fact they’re charging $450 is really putting them out of the “hey that’s not too bad” audience. This is a wildly bad move on their part.

  • It feels like democrats are trying to join republicans more and more cause they keep “winning.” The reality is that Republicans aren’t simply winning, but they are getting away with abandoning their constituents. Democrats who are in it for nothing but power are seeing this and starting to simply join the side in power. Newsom is no different and I won’t be surprised when he finally swaps colors.

  • Technically, but when any marketing refers to Q anything in TVs, they’re talking about LCD Panels. Samsung manufactures QD-OLED panels but they don’t compete with anything else in the market that has “Q” in the naming schema.

  • It was for white middle class Americans. That’s why they’re so angry now, they can’t guarantee their hierarchical standing so they need to try and pull every other denomination down.

  • So with just a little bit of research: You’re right. However, 3 of Fords most popular models are in fact produced in Canada. This begs the question though: do these tariffs apply to production or simply “company country of origin?”

  • What’s ironic is that more foreign owned brands have production plants in the US than US brands at this point. Nissan Toyota and Honda all have US plants. GM Ford and Chrysler all have plants primarily in Canada and Mexico.

  • Forums are where I learned literally everything about technology I know now. Every hack, jailbreak, method of bypassing something, building, literally anything I’ve done around my tech hobbies. Pi hole, emulation in the late 90s, how to use Photoshop, how to run Linux from a USB, everything I’ve learned from forums. I’m sad to think that me joining certain discords help deliver the death knell to the concept of forums.

Let's discuss: Opeth - The Last Will and Testament

Let’s open up Lemmy Metal to some album release discussions. This is a hugely anticipated album so there’s no better place to start!

I have many thoughts on it after only 1 play through, but I want to hear what the community has to say first.

Someone is constantly trying to log into my email account what should I do? UPDATE

I received a notification last night that someone changed my shipping address on Macys.com and when I visited the website, there was an open order for a PS5 with delivery to a NJ address.

After logging into Macy's I got 43 emails at once to seven different services like "Excalidraw" and "Sportograf" trying to login using a magic link.

At this point was was pretty nervous so I checked my main email security. Sure enough, there have been repeated login attempts under my account going on every few minutes for weeks.

I also saw there was an attempted login to my cellphone or home internet company.

I use 2FA, authenticators, etc. Basically what else should I be doing? Is there any way to be more preventative? I really don't wanna chuck this email but it is possible that may be the safest recourse. I do use this email for almost 300 different accounts to various things though.

    8/23 update

    So I received this s

Is there a website to see where US tax dollars are going at a state, county, district, and federal level?

I would love to see a visual representation of where US tax dollars are going based on address. Especially if it has pretty charts.

What are some excellent free games/total conversions that are worth playing the whole thing?

I used up play a ton of Doom mods years ago and a lot of the TCs were fun but lacked substance beyond the surface. Some of the new ones are cool but overly complex. (The Sonic cart game has an hour long tutorial before you start). I was a big fan of Simon’s Destiny, the Castlevania mod for Doom.

Basically I’m looking to see suggestions for free games or total conversions that are worth playing. Before I go spending money onSteam releases, I wanna check out what I might have missed the last few years.

    Games that respect your time.

When I was kid, I could sit in front of TV for hours and sink a day or two away into a game and have no problem having to start the game over from the beginning. Time meant nothing to me and I wasted it like it was a near infinite resource.

Now I am a parent and ain't got time for some of the nonsense that's in games nowadays. I'm lucky if I have even an hour to play each night.

A good example: Forza Horizon 5 allows you to switch cars mid game without traveling back to a house. That to me is a huge time saver compared to the recent NFS games.

Contrarily, Forza Motorsport (2023) makes you do qualifications every round. While realistic, a big time sink.

That said, what are some of your favorite games that have respect for your limited time?
