Sommige winkeliers handteren vreemde methoden.

Fenix A320 V2-block 1 released
Fenix A320 has announced version V2 of their A320. The V2 update is divided into two blocks. Block 1 has released today and includes mostly under the hood improvements to systems, displays, aircraft behaviour and some small improments in the EFB. Block 1 is promised to bring major FPS improvements.
Block 2 is scheduled to launch in September. This will include the IAE variant, updated model and improvements to the current CFM model.

Eens.

Cathay Pacific A350 makes a very hard, high pitch landing at London Heathrow.

Yes. This will take some time to repair and re-certify the aircraft (among pressure hull tests). Tailstrike damage is a fairly common type of repair, but this damage is quite extensive and will take some time.
The aircraft is brand new (1.3 years) so the chance of getting repaired is high.

A Volaris Airbus A321-200N, registration XA-VSC performing flight Y4-488 from Tijuana to Guadalajara (Mexico), landed on Guadalajara's runway 11 at 11:52L (17:52Z) but touched down hard and suffered a tail strike. The aircraft rolled out without further incident. There were no injuries, the aircraft suffered substantial damage.
Mexico's DAAIA (Direccion de Analisis de Accidentes e Incidentes de Aviacion) reported the aircraft XA-VSC suffered a hard landing at Guadalajara, but attributed the aircraft to Viva Aerobus instead of Volaris. The DAAIA quoted the captain of the flight stating: "We were on an ILS approach. The first officer was flying the aircraft, the approach was carried out in a normal way. On short final an instability started, the first officer decelerated the aircraft completely, the aircraft went down, I didn't have time to correct, a strong impact was felt. White Elephant: unconnected bridge in the middle of nowhere

cross-posted from: https://lemm.ee/post/3435410
White Elephants are frequently seen in cases involving bridges, and Belgium has quite a few examples. This particular bridge in Belgium serves as an illustration of a White Elephant.
A new bypass road was planned by the city and the government of Wallonia. While planning this bypass, this bridge was already constructed in a farmers field over a low-used agricultural road. This occurred even though the route of the bypass had not been established, and the funding had not yet been secured.
As time went on, a change in the City Council's leadership and objections from the farming community led to the project being put on hold and eventually scrapped altogether. Today, the bridge stands as the solitary relic of the abandoned bypass plan.

White Elephant: nuclear power plant in Kalkar which was transformed to a theme park

A nuclear power plant was built in Kalkar, Germany, and was completely constructed, ready to accept nuclear fuel. However, the project was put on hold and later canceled.
Background
The SNR-300 project began in the 1970s as a collaboration between Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands and aimed to demonstrate the viability of fast breeder reactor technology. However, due to various factors including safety concerns, cost overruns, and public opposition to nuclear energy, the project faced multiple delays and controversies. In the late 1980s, following the Chernobyl disaster and growing anti-nuclear sentiment, the governments decided to cancel the SNR-300 project. The construction of the reactor was halted, and the project was officially abandoned in the early 1990s.
Some of the structures were later demolished and equipment was either sold or destroyed. The already received nuclear fuel was transported to France, where it was used in their nuclear reactors.

In Charleroi, Belgium, a significant portion of the light-rail network was built using shell structures, but it never became operational due to financial limitations. This was due to insufficient funds to complete the construction and cover operational expenses.
During the 1960s, the government initiated plans for an extensive light-rail network consisting of a central ring with 8 outward lines. The network's design aimed for maximum efficiency by avoiding road intersections, leading to the inclusion of numerous tunnels and viaducts in the blueprint.
Over the subsequent decades (70s, 80s, and 90s), only a portion of the central ring was actually built, and construction was limited to just 3 outward lines. Fenix announces V2 for their A320 - also announced A319 and A321

Fenix simulations, known for their A320 for MSFS, announced a major update to their A320 product, called V2. The update is broken into two pieces: block 1 and block 2.
Block 1 mostly contains "under the hood" optimalizations. Block 2 contains a major update to the model aswell as the addition of the IAE engine variant. Until now, Fenix only has the A320 with the CFM engines.
The V2 update promises great progress on frames. See the image.
Simultaneously, they announced the addition of the A319 and A321 variants by the end of the year.
Block 1 of V2 should be released next week. Block 2 is planned for the end of September.

Also looked for it, but did not find it. I guess it is JetBlue / FAA internal only and only this frame from the clip was released.
White elephant: Bangkok's never finished Elevated Road and Train System (BERT)
cross-posted from: https://lemm.ee/post/3163065
Construction commenced in 1990 for the Bangkok Elevated Road and Train System (BERT), connecting central Bangkok to the former main airport, Don Mueang International Airport. The initiative aimed to alleviate escalating traffic congestion by implementing an elevated roadway and rail network.
However, the project was largely halted in 1992 and was eventually terminated in 1998 due to legal and financial complications. By then, around 13% of the project had been executed, mainly in the form of concrete pillars designed to support the highway and railway tracks.
Some of these pillars have been dismantled, while the remainder still stands. These abandoned pillars have garnered the nickname "Thai Stonehenge" due to the artistic appearance of certain pillar structures.
The construction company estimated the works to have costed US$575 million.

The hotel existed largely in a rough construction state until 2008. From then, a Egyptian construction company, Orascom, re-started construction on the exterior part of the building. By 2011 they had completed the exterior part of the building.
Up until now, only the exterior part of the building is completed. The interior part is largely empty and no works have commenced on the interior part. In recent years, a large LED panel was fitted to one of the sides of the building.

747s carrying a 5th engine

cross-posted from: https://lemm.ee/post/3070313
Did you know a 747 could carry an additional engine? The 5th engine is not working: it is carried as cargo underneath the wing to transport it from one location to another. This special way of carrying the engines is mainly used to transport an engine to an already broken down aircraft at a non-base airport. The second 747 can fly in a new engine, after which engineers can replace the engine on the broken down 747. The broken engine can be carried back in the same way to the home base airport.
Due to the drag, the performance of the aircraft is quite heavy impacted. Crews must plan additional fuel stops to account for the added fuel burn.
See for more information and a very nice description of this process this blog from Flightradar24.

Hahaha, sorry, not a native english speaker. Ofcourse: autobrake. :-)

Correct. It is also used for performance calculations. For example to calculate what Autobreak setting should be used based on the runway length, METAR and landing weight.
I know Airbus aircraft calculate the "EFOB" (End Fuel On Board) in the MCDU. A pilot can calculate the Landing Weight based on the EFOB number by looking at the current weight and calculating based on the EFOB what the landing weight would be.

I am curious as well. 32.4 years old. It did get a cabin refurbishment in January 2023, so this makes the repair/not repair decision perhaps a bit harder.
