I can remember seeing photos from the liberations of death camps, never got to hear about the soviets doing it of course...but regardless of who, those photos or very old video reels were more than enough for me, from a pretty early age I felt anyone who would have any part at all in anything like that should be stopped at once, their mechanisms put to an immediate end and their views destroyed. I can't understand how people who literally saw it with their own eyes could be anything but absolutely radicalized against fascism in even it's smallest signs. Instead we got McCarthyism. They had to tell people Stalin was a Hitler or they'd notice how Hitler their own country is.

I don't really think going higher than 1080p really does much for a movie, after that point the finishing returns start to set in unless you have an absolutely giant TV or you're sitting super close to a still pretty big TV. Maybe for vidya games or something it could make a difference or something filmed in native 4k could potentially look a bit better but especially for something being digitized from a film negative, it can be a choice between keeping analog grit or smoothing it all out digitally and I'd prefer a movie shot on film to continue to look like it was shot on film.

Too many Ks. Unless you have a really really huge TV or you sit super close to it, and also have absolutely no vision problems, there's a pretty good chance you're not gonna tell the difference between 1080p and 4k.

Hats off to those who do it. I don't need to see things when they're new, so I will generally just wait until there's a home release or streaming rip. I'm not a 4k guy or whatever, I'm down with DVD quality or worse, I still wanna see it in a better format than a cam. But there's clearly people who want it, so I'm glad people are out there doing the work.
