  • Why are you blaming leftists for Trumps win? We make up like 1% of the population, tops. You should instead point the finger at Republicans for voting for him. Or the Dems for running a totally weak and ineffectual campaign. (Or how about the oligarchs who only want to divide us so that they can rob us blind?)

  • Ok great, you can name a bunch of the events that make up the alleged 100 million deaths caused by communists. That doesn't take away from the fact that capitalist governments have FAR more blood on their hands.

And we can debate back and forth on the historicity of the events you named, but you should at least know that the Holodomor was literally coined by a self-proclaimed fascist to try and conflate Nazi crimes with Soviet errors.

  • There’s also the fact that both sides support capitalism, which is an evil ideology that has killed more people than communism ever did. Like for real, capitalism kills 10 million people every year just through starvation and withholding lifesaving medication. That means that every decade capitalism kills more than even the highest estimates of communism’s total headcount over the last 100 years (which, btw, those estimates include Nazis killed in WW2).

  • Fascists will always ignore protests. The point isn’t that the protests themselves will change things, the point is to organize now so that when violence becomes more widespread, resistance groups already exist and can effectively recruit partisans.

This coup isn’t going to end peacefully. It’s time we start realizing that and preparing ourselves to fight.

  • Absolutely, but many people do not have the time luxury to read dense theory books, and (good) podcasts can at least get people acquainted with the ideas.

Also, (and I’m putting words in your mouth, so sorry for that) I think it’s a fallacy to say that every comrade must be a theory scholar. Certainly our leaders and organizers should be, but I think it’s fine if people don’t have the academic inclination and want to contribute in other ways.

  • The reason the numbers are idiotic is because they don’t need to make sense. There is no point to these tariffs other than to crash the US economy so that fat cat rich scum can buy everything and create corporate feudalism.

  • For all the people talking about Vaush and Hasan and their controversies, realize that there are other folks out there where you can learn about theory without the Twitch brainrot. The Revolutionary Left podcast is my personal favorite.

  • But the thing is, this is a 17 year student from Israel. Shouldn’t they already know how serious a Nazi salute is? A fine like this teen got is an absolutely acceptable punishment that will either a) teach him not to be such a dumbass, or b) that his shitty beliefs are not tolerated.

  • Less damaging to whom? To the kid who did a Nazi salute? Sure, definitely. How about to society? Tolerance for Nazis and Nazi symbology only emboldens Nazis and weakens everyone else. Especially in these times when fascists control the most powerful country on Earth.

  • If they’re doing it to be provocative, then they know exactly what they’re doing and why it’s bad. No sympathy for Nazi supporters or those who make light of Nazi atrocities. This kid deserves the punishment.

  • This is what people mean when they say there is no ethical consumption in capitalism. Yes, you are a leech, but only because the system has forced you into it. In a different system, neither you nor the Ukrainian family would have housing insecurity.

I don’t say this to judge you, btw, I think we should applaud every landlord who keeps rent low. Just pointing out that it’s impossible to both “keep your hands clean” and “get ahead” in capitalism.
