I'm hungry

  • Going to assume you're just trauma venting, because clearly toddlers should be eating all the time; they're small and have small systems, whereas adults can almost always eat enough food to sustain them for 4-5 hours, with a basic understanding of nutrition.

Anyway, sorry your mom was the way she was.

  • I'm hungry

  • Don't invite this person. They'll make errands that should be an hour into a 3 hour escapade while complaining every 25 minutes about being hungry and wanting snacks.

Eat a whole fucking meal, like an adult.

  • Some people have abysmal spatial awareness and, from experience, many women seem to not have much sense of the gradation of height beyond recognizing someone who can loom over them. Eg, many women have said something like, "we're almost the same height," while I am 4" (10cm) taller than them. Eventually you just chock it up to a widespread skill issue, or some kind of default mania.

  • 65 isn't very old, but it's a lot on anyone's plate if she was also taking care of a 90+ Alzheimer patient and 3 dogs.

The fact that they had a rodent infestation (which are known vectors for Hanta in NM) on their property seems like a pretty significant indication that she was overwhelmed. It's not like they are average retirees; resources were not an issue.

What IS an ongoing pattern though, is elderly people overestimating their capabilities based on their younger selves, and ignoring the signs they need additional support. Eventually something catastrophic happens, like a car accident, and then people shake their heads like, "well, we kept telling Bill he was too old to drive at night anymore, but he's just stubborn like that." Meanwhile the collateral damage is done.

  • This is almost carbon copy of the experience Millennials went through coming out of college, largely because it's the exact same out-of-touch Boomers who are still perched on the upper rungs of ladders punching down.

Boomers have completely fucked 3 successive generations of Americans, and they absolutely deserve all the vitriol that comes their way.

  • "Hantavirus pulmonary disease is fatal in nearly four out of 10 people who are infected, but fewer than 730 cases were identified in the US between 1993 and 2017.

Further police investigations of their grounds discovered widespread evidence of rodent infestation."

They shouldn't have been living on their own; like many very elderly people, they both needed supervised care.
