You could have opened a UTF-8 character encoded text as ASCII. That would explain why there is "gibberish".

So, does that mean he doesn't own the copyright to the logo if it is is a generic Unicode character?

It's not so much that eating disorders increase but rater it was under-diagnosed and under-recognised. And particularly in boys and men.
