[W]e must recognize, and loudly proclaim, that everyone, whatever his grade in the old society, whether strong or weak, capable or incapable, has, before everything, the right to live, and that society is bound to share among all, without exception, the means of existence it has at its disposal.

  • Maybe the people wouldn't stay at home if there was someone worth voting for.

  • The name of the game is exploit or be exploited. Either you're a capitalist or a worker.

  • Why don't they just go to the poop deck... are they stupid?

  • Absolutely deranged times we're living in

  • Happens literally every time the general white audience finds out about "throwaway" cuts.

  • My fellow American, don't you understand? China = BAD. America = GOOOD!

  • I feel this in my bones

It really is an indescribable feeling

  • A prolonged escape produces a similar feeling. I once had the privilege of a research sabbatical in Europe. I got a taste of the freedom to do my own work without care for my basic needs. At the end, the bitter feeling of returning to my own exploitation washed over me. And now the awareness of being a wage-slave follows me every day.

    • If you like hip-hop beats try Dibia$e and Flying Lotus.
    • If you like electronic music try Actress (more upbeat), Bjarki (more spacey), and Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works.
    • For background classical music, try English string miniatures--pleasant orchestral pieces that don't require too much attention. Similarly, could also play Chopin (piano), Christopher Parkening (Spanish guitar), or German Lieder (from Schubert, Liszt, Wolf, Mahler, or Brahms)
    • The metal category is perhaps the hardest to recommend. Personally, I choose Drudkh, The Ruins of Beverast, Akhlys, and Xasthur to play in the background while working.

    Roll the Dice

  • I think we're in agreement. Even if we steelman their argument, it doesn't follow that the workers ever see the benefit of reinvestment. The capitalist is still incentivized to reduce the cost of human labor through various means (understaffing, wage theft, offshoring, AI, etc.). Much more equitable for the workers to collectively make decisions about production instead of capitalists.

Yes, the meme simplifies their position for the sake of humor. But Trickle Down Economics is demonstrably false and worthy of ridicule.

  • You didn't finish the analogy. For what purpose does a company need a singular leader?

  • It's also obvious just how much work being a musician is. Even a child understands that you can't just pick up an instrument and play your favorite song without training. Whereas the work in being a Youtuber/Twitch streamer is hidden from the audience.

  • Why don't scientists just point a telescope at the ocean: are they stupid?
