  • Why should they receive money from the state anyway? Its a private school for the elite. Funneling public money into the pocket of a diploma factory isn't good use of the tax money anyway.

I disagree with Trump's motivation, but I can't disagree with the result. The money should go to free schools.

  • They might not bury their head in the sand either. They might be engaged in the topics, but at the moment they just want to see what funny references exist in a non political sphere.

  • A picture of a crowd with the headline AOC and Sanders gathered 35000 people this weekend is hardly a meme.

Have you considered I might be European? And I might be somewhat interested in American politics, but I'm also interested in other shit to. If Lemmy wants to succeed it will have to cater to a wider audience than the most politically engaged core.

Blocking a few users have cleansed my front page alot. I hake no issues with people discussing their political worries. Thats imoortant in any free State. What's not important is forcing those discussions into any minor irrelevant topic.

  • Which are topics covered by 90% of the forums here already. If you browse for memes you should be allowed to see some. instead you get AOC Simps sharing some rally.

Blocking users posting political campaigning on meme forums are now modus operandi.

Try posting that shit on the woodworking forum and see how it flies. The meme forums are poorly moderated.

  • Yes sure. But that doesn't play along with the current narrative. So history shouldn't be brought up like that. This is about revisionism. We all should feel guilty for something we have no power over so we can discuss non issues instead of actual problems.

  • My biggest issue with Lemmy is how anything with negative annotations can't be praised for any positive contributions.

Right now with Musk for example. The guy is a snake ruining everything he touches. So therefore you are not allowed to be optimistic about development in space travel or having any good experiences with Tesla.

The outrage culture here is insane, and it's clouding every topic. The latest Mark Rober video was heavily edited and gave viewers a reason to question the method of testing. But Lemmy doesn't care because the process isn't important when the results are appealing.

On Lemmy your are for or you are against. There is no room for contrary opinions. Trying to find a forum for your favourite hobby or game is not easy because everything everyone care about is being stuck up about something.

On Reddit every comment on any popular post are just unfunny one liners. On Lemmy you find more though out long form comments on popular post. But they all confirm the current popular opinion, so it's doesn't really matter.

  • I have no doubt the car will crash.

But I do feel there is something strange about the car disengaging the auto pilot (cruise control) just before the crash. How can the car know it's crashing while simultaneously not knowing it's crashing?

I drive a model 3 myself, and there is so much bad shit about the auto pilot and rain sensors. But I have never experienced, or heard anyone else experiencing a false positive were the car disengage the auto pilot under any conditions the way shown in the video with o sound or visual cue. Considering how bad the sensors on the car is, its strange they're state of the art every time an accident happens. There is dissonance between the claims.

Mark shouldn't have made so many cuts in the upload. He locks the car on 39mph on the video, but crashes at 42mph. He should have kept it clean and honest.

I want to see more of these experiments in the future. But Marks video is pretty much a commercial for the Lidar manufacturer. And commercials shouldn't be trusted.

  • Agree. It was a chore listening to it. Good it's short.

Edit* it's one of the pieces of literature that can't be reviewed anymore. Like 1984.

1984 is good with the whole world building thing. The moment our protagonist falls in love and fuck the chick in that field its over.

  • As a consumer you should have thought about the consequences of your habits. Because of you they now have to replace all the vendig machines.

Its the consumers fault. Companies have absolutely no responsibility.

Huge /S if there ever was any doubt.

  • It's hard to engage with other posts when most of them are about Linux or American politics. Two things I don't really want to spent a lot of time engaging with.

Besides that it's mostly old memes which isn't worth commenting on.

Other niche communities I'm interested in are not that active. Even though I've posted in them Tue lack of engagement isn't a motivator.

any actually good ear buds out there?

I'm looking for some new ear buds for running and other purposes, but finding anything suited for a mediocre active lifestyle seems hard.

Now I have a pair of Sennheiser sport true wireless. What works is the audio quality and reliable charging. What doesn't work is the very clunky charging case, and any trace of rain will adjust the volume, change the song or pause the track. A stable 3/5 product. Wearing a hood just amplifies the problem as a tiny amount of moisture will interfere.

I'm not trusting Sennheiser for a new pair right now as their Momentum True Wireless 3 buds had a faulty charging tech. Both me and my partner had to send them in and receive new ones. Bad for us, bad for the environment.

Any recommendations for a pair with a nice balanced sound quality, good case, and reliable controls in all conditions?

I think om going insane. When you carry it by the handle it's so long that it may scratch the ground, but the handles are too short to cary it properly over your shoulder. What's going on? How are they so popular?

A welcome change in my opinion. Having played through the biome both solo and duo im happy to see spawn rates reduced a bit. The initial landing is fine as a challenge, but after that it gets very tedious and boring after a while.

There's only so many skeletons you want to parry before you're fed up with the play loop. Hopefully this will make engaging the biome a bit more interesting and better paced.

For all Island spawn enjoyers. 15 seeds with small isolated starter islands.

The list provides seeds, links and a short description of the starter island and it's surroundings. No special order. I just enjoy looking for Island spawns.

1: ys3gYb8k56 Small island in swimming distance to the closest boss.

2: 3wuuiCXwTC Two medium sized islands isolated from the first boss.

3: JFezuBPp0G Very isolated starter island. Medium size. Map has fairly large islands elsewhere.

4: UXL0hU9qKf medium size started island. Pretty hard spawn regarding progress to bosses.

5: S8gqZJnHfK Tiny starter island with swim

Mondelez driver fortsatt næringsvirksomhet i Russland.

why is "commander in chief" structured like that?

Why not Chief in command or Commander of chiefs or similar?

The sentence basically means Commander in biggest or Commander in most important. It's a strange structure.

The west should not protect merchant ships from Houthi drone attacks in the Red Sea.

US and other Nato countries should not bother with protecting merchant ships attacked in the Red sea. The shipping companies have to rely on the navies of their flag states for protection. The 10 largest flag states for shipping are:

Panama, Liberia, Marshall Islands, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malta, Bahamas, China, Greece, Japan

Hong Kong is now China. But there is still an independent shipping tax haven there. The shipping companies avoiding taxes in western countries does not deserve protection from the same countries.

They can get a return of the tax money by letting the mentionee countries send their navies. Greece is a NATO country, so NATO can participate to some degree with support to the flag state navies.

*Guess this was a popular opinion.
