its about all of us here on Lemmy
And yet, i just see you bitching about it. Were you elected to speak for me? I don’t recall that.
You must be fantastic at Community volunteer efforts/work. /s

Snowflake, if you don’t like the article headline the author used, downvote and move on and email the author. Cripes, not everything is about you sweetheart.
No, its not about me, its about all of us here on Lemmy, and the quality of posts we get.

The post title is an exact and faithful copy of the linked article, though. There’s no editorializing here.
That's one of my points. They could have changed the title of the Lemmy post (like what is done MOST of the time around here) to not match the subject of the article but instead be accurate for us Lemmy readers, and not just duplicate the same/wrong title. The "editorializing" in this case is the NOT correcting of the title in the Lemmy post.
So either the person who posted here on Lemmy didn't read the article they posted about, or they decided to purposely carry forward the invalid title from the article, after having read the article. (Or, this is just an astroturfing article and we are all wasting our time commenting here.)

I’m pretty sure he’s a sov cit. Don’t bother trying to reason with him.
No, I pay my house taxes, and drivers license fee, and my car registration, etc., etc., etc.
Weak attempt.

From the article ...
Organic solar cells have lagged behind their silicon-based cousins for energy-producing purposes due to engineering challenges such as low efficiency and short lifespans, but recent work out of Forrest’s lab has achieved record efficiencies of 10% and estimated lifetimes of up to 30 years.

Years are made of months … Good read https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mythical_Man-Month
More than just a good read, that's one of the project/programming Ten Commandments.
Can't tell you how many times over the decades I've had to argue with project managers about that.

This, A.K.A. "me too".
I'd be will willing to hear any suggestions of what app features the web browser does not have to make it worthwhile installing an app. ??

On Monday, Washington’s Metropolitan Police revealed that two people accused of vandalizing a Tesla windshield will be charged for “political hate speech.”
Not to be pedantic, and to be fair, but it is political speech. It's definately not complaining about customer service or warranties.

The title of the post matches the title of the article, this isn’t a case of a poster editorializing.
I'm going to call b.s. on that one. I read the article. And so did others.
Edit: From the comment I initially replied to...
The article’s title does not match the content.
And how you replied to me replying to the above ...
The title of the post matches the title of the article
I'm talking about the body of the text of the article vs its title, the same as the person that I replied to. I don't care about the 'red herring' assertion you are making.
And while we are at it, the article title doesn't match the body of the article itself.
I get how you want to 'Kill the Messenger' and diminish my rep here, but don't be so literal/pedantic, and goal post moving.

Holy fuck. Because for some fucking reason, the goddamned director of the fucking central intelligence agency doesn’t fucking know that just because you’re able doesn’t mean you should.
Never fucking mind also apparently just not fucking knowing about the JWICS that’s designed for this exact motherfucking purpose.
'Fuck' count: 7
(Sorry, couldn't resist. 😋 😇 I get your anger though; agree.)

From the article ...
On March 23rd, as Mr Imamoglu was being moved to a maximum-security prison on the city’s outskirts, the opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) staged a primary election to confirm him as its candidate in the next presidential elections, scheduled for 2028. It was open to all voters, not just CHP members. The party said 15m Turks took part.
... and ...
Meral, a housewife, joined the protests with her daughter, a university student. “This is not about Imamoglu or the CHP,” she says. “This is because our right to vote and to be elected is being taken away.”

Paywalled.

The article’s title does not match the content. I read it and it does not talk about how Musk controls Trump. It talks about retaliation for those organizing protests against Tesla.
Welcome to Lemmy, where people's personal agendas/marketing shape the titles of their posts.

From the article ...
“What’s happening, it seems to me, is they’re being fed propaganda by the far left, and they believe it. It’s really unfortunate,” Musk continued, claiming that the “real problem” isn’t the “crazy guy” who attacks his vehicles but rather the people that push the “propaganda” that encourages him to do it.
“Those are the real villains here, and we’re going to go after them,” the DOGE chief warned. “The president has made it clear, we’re going to go after them.”
“The ones providing the money, the ones pushing the lies and propaganda? We’re going after them,” Musk said, casually pointing his fingers in the shape of a gun.

That doesn’t mean they want the US to inflict half a million civilian casualties, as they did when ridding Iraq of Saddam Hussein. And this time, Trump and Hegseth will be running the show, so it’s a certainty it’ll be worse.
Personally I would tend to agree with you, but that didn't stop the Iranians from having protest events in Iran calling for Trump to win/invade.
People don't always act logically, or maybe they measure the 'lesser of the two evils' and take actions based on that. Iranians were hoping Trump would win the election just for that reason, to invade and kick out the Mullahs.

Feel free to block me.

Touch grass. Really.
Being little spam doesn’t make it cool. Being little spam about your copyleft views doesn’t make it cool.
I would argue that ignorance tends to benefit corporations moreso than regular people without power. Take avail of any power that you have available to you, before its all gone.
Also, if you don't defend others views, then one day, your views will not be defended.

You need to make the connection that this is U.S. Government-sanctioned slavery.
Slavery existed in Africa for hundreds of years (unfortunately).

Though they do worry about what you've mentioned, most Iranians I've talked to currently are "willing to risk it", as they are sick and tired of the Mullahs at this point.

Would be nice if it could be set as some kind of post / comment metadata, hidden from view but there in the code.
I'd love that, if it would be legally respected by corporations/scrapers. I even mention my license intention for my content in my bio here on Lemmy as well. It would save me allot of hassle arguing with others as well.
Until then, I have to embed the license in the content itself, especially while the new AI law is just starting to sort out these issues.

(quoting another person, not the one I'm directly replying to)
But honestly people, if you are being bothered by a simple link in a comment, that is allowed on Lemmy, then you really need to look within. If your client of choice is not displaying subscripted fonts correctly, and hence the text/link looks worse than it should, then you really need to speak with the devs of the client about that (as I mentioned in my 'FAQ' link, I'm using official Lemmy.World formatting). And if you don't like seeing a license in general, then I can't help you with that one, except for maybe giving some 'touch grass' advice (especially to the person I quoted above).

PSA: Enable 'Above 4G Decoding' and 'Resizazble BAR Support' BIOS Settings for running Retail WoW in Linux/Proton
Be sure to enable 'Above 4G Decoding' and 'Resizazble BAR Support' in the BIOS of your PC!
WoW really cares about that (as of last week) for some reason. I was getting constant crashes when starting WoW from the Battle.Net launcher, until I made those changes (Fedora/KDE Linux, Proton Steam Experimental (and other non-Steam Protons)).
Irony is that I had them set before in by BIOS, but had updated by BIOS and assumed my non-default settings would carry over to the new BIOS version, but did not. So double-check your BIOS for those two settings, if you are having problems.

Discord Servers asking for Phone Numbers and 'Verification Levels'

The game's Discord REQUIRES your personal phone number to get access at all. This is a very intrusive, and 100% unnecessary requirement, in order to just be able to interact with others about the game, it's content, player experiences, and many other things. It's also intrusive in regards to being able to contribute any input to help other players in any way at all.
Dev Response...
It's Discord that's asking you for verification of the account. We're not getting your phone number. This is standard practice on bigger servers that allows for a better user experience, filtering bots/ spam accounts, trolls, etc.
Could companies please STOP lying about it being Discord's ch

Slow down events spawning timeframes?
cross-posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/10753570
Hello all. I'm not sure how to phrase my question, so bear with me.
Is there a way in DF to slow down how fast it dishes out events? I find myself being overwhelmed by the events as they occur, and not being able to catch up on resolving them.
For example, if I'm working on resolving the ramifications of event A, and event B happens. Then when I just start working on event B, event C happens. And before I'm done with event B, event D happens as well, etc.
Everything from when dwarves get unhappy, to new arrivals, to when attacks happen, etc.
Basically, I'm feeling piled on and cannot get out from under the pile.
Another way of asking the question, can any trigger time threshold on the in-game calendar be slid out into the future for all events, like at a slower 2x or 3x rate? For example, instead of the check for new arrivals happening every year, have the check/arrivals happen every second or third year,

Whitemane Cataclysm Server Leveling Experience
FYI, it's a really good server 1 to 60. You can set your own XP rate from 1 to 4.5, and I've seen no real bugs.
At 60 you automatically get boosted to 80 (including your profs) and you get level 80 beginner gear. From there you quest from 80 to 85 and do all the endgame stuff.
FYI though, while the BC and Wrath zones do exist, I do not know if they've been fully scripted and are functional or not.
I've flown around in some of the BC zones for herbing in mining purposes, and everything seemed copacetic, but like I said before, I believe most people take the free boost at 60 because they're there to experience the cataclysm content, so I don't know what state those zones are in for questing.
(I am not affiliated with the server in anyway whatsoever, just currently playing on it, and wanted to create a post in this community for content for others to read).
