Would also be great if the new comments would be highlighted.

It once landed on a ledge above the deposit, so you only needed to drop the bombs.

Does plus addresses help circumvent that? I think most email providers supports plus addressing (also known as sub-addressing). You can add plus sign and any string before the at sign. For example: [email protected]
. The string between plus and at signs can be anything, and all these addresses points to your normal inbox with the added benefit that you can filter them into different folders.
PS. Lemmy version 0.18.2 was released today. It fixes the vulnerability and has some other improvements as well.

Also be wary when using apps and especially when enabling push notifications. Lemmy API currently lacks any kind of support for partial access to an account (unless this has changed recently). So, apps cannot, for example, get read only access to your account's inbox. Apps can get either no access or full access. When you sign up for push notifications, an authentication token is stored to the push notification server which gives full access to your account to who ever happens to get their hand on that token. If there, for example, happens to be a security vulnerability on the push notification server, it might leak those tokens.
If you have enabled push notifications on some Lemmy app, and want to invalidate the token, you can just change your password.
Here's a post by Memmy for Lemmy's developer about push notifications: https://lemmy.ml/post/1534493

As far as I know Lemmy stores only text locally and images and such will be linked to the external instance. Text doesn't use much disk space, so that shouldn't be a big a problem. Sometimes when you browse Lemmy, you notice posts that have broken links to images. It's because the other instance is down, but you can still see the text portion of the posts on your home instance.

There's also pornlemmy.com. You don't need to be logged in to view posts and there's no anime/hentai or aigen stuff.

Did you just ask that has Reddit ever given anything back to their volunteers, besides sticks, rocks and ill will?

This is a good article: The Non-Judgmental Guide to Getting Seriously Into Tea
You should try different types of teas. Teas are classified into 6 categories: White, green, yellow, black, oolong and post-fermented (also known as puer or puerh). Puerh is further divided into ripe (shu) and raw (sheng) puerh. Also teas from different countries have their own characteristics. Try them all, and find your favorites.
Supermarket teas, whether teabags or loose leaf, aren't very good in general. Of course, there are exceptions, and if flavored teas is what you like, there's plenty of those in markets. But if you want good loose leaf teas, you need to buy from tea shops. Here's a long list of online tea shops around the world. You can use the search feature to filter the list. If you, for example, want to find shops that sell teaware and are based in United Kingdom, you can search for "teaware kingdom".
If you want to buy teaware, a good rule for what to buy is this: Spend the money on tea instead. Don't buy some crazy expensive clay pots, when a simple porcelain gaiwan (cup with a lid) does the job perfectly.

New Mlem for Lemmy TestFlight beta (version 0.2.0(30)) with improved VoiceOver
A new beta of Mlem for Lemmy was released on 2023-07-02. Among many other improvements, it has greatly improved VoiceOver support. But there are also the following known issues:
- Large posts will prevent scrolling by using left and right gestures with VoiceOver
- Unable to navigate to a community from a post with VoiceOver
You can read all the details from their announcement post.
You can download the update from TestFlight. Remember that there are two separate TestFlight betas. The first ended when there was a change in the development team and won't be updated anymore. If you are in that beta, you need to join the new beta to get the new update.

Use your instance's search feature. You can search
- Name of community:
No Stupid Questions
- By using !community@instance syntax:
[email protected]
- URL of the community:
https://lemmy.world/c/nostupidquestions
First option won't work if your instance hasn't federated the community yet. The last option is best in my opinion.

r/Blind is still a valuable resource for many people. No sense denying people access to it. r/Blind mods already created a Lemmy instance which they try to promote for their members. But learning new software can be challenging when you can't see, especially if the software isn't very accessible.

Someone needs to start a "campaign" for naming and shaming companies who advertises on Reddit. "[This company] supports a company that actively discriminates against the disabled. #SayNoToReddit"

That list won't show which instances have block the home instance. The blocked list lists only the instances the home instance has blocked, not the other way around.

Lemmy.world is not yet 0.18, so that too might affect it.

It’s not a feature of Lemmy and, I guess, no-one has wanted to create it for their app. You should submit this idea to the Lemmy developers so it will eventually be a feature in every app.

Some communities have bots that copies posts from Reddit. Some do that so there would be more content in Lemmy. Those bots probably don't break any rules set by the Admins of those instances.
Personally I don't like that content is being copied without the permission of those who made the posts in Reddit. Also, in some cases it sort of defies the whole point of the community. For example, one of the Explain Like I'm Five communities has a bot like that. The bot includes a link to the original post. Why would anyone reply to the bot's post, when you can just read the explanation from the original post? That doesn't help make Lemmy more active place when a bot posts things and no human ever replies to them.

At the bottom of the page, it says something like "BE 0.17.4". BE means BackEnd, in this case that would be Lemmy.

Do you perhaps use Top Daily as your sorting? If there are no top posts today (no-one has voted), there's no posts that can be shown. I can see the posts just fine, but if I change to Top Daily, there's nothing. Newest post to that community was made three days ago.

r/Blind mods created their own Lemmy instance at https://rblind.com/. They use some beta features and their own modifications to make it more accessible.
