  • I shut down desktops before bed time. SSD cold boot is nothing. Steam Deck sleeps sometimes, useful for obvious reasons.

    You can do whatever you want, just reboot after updates.

  • I've witnessed a failure like this once but it took a sunken brick crosswalk where we get frost heave into a U-shape with a flat manhole cover in the middle of one lane to get driven over for a couple years until one day the lip under the cover was so busted up it flipped the lid right out when my mom drove over it lol.

    As an aside...If I wanted to host an event like this specifically for fediverse, where should one post it?

    Let's say I pre-pack a portable archive (so Linux users can easily just add the exe to Faugus/Lutris whatever too) for Halo Custom Edition with a bunch of maps and throw a dedi server up for a week as an example.

    So not the .world instance which lied about allowing piracy after announcing they would IIRC.

  • It's always interesting to hear from younger people playing games much older than themselves and what their impressions of them are without the cultural context of the time or sometimes even an understanding of hardware limitations. In my case that's usually just hearing from youtubers, but your opinion seems the prevalent one from what I can tell, which is nice to hear.
