  • Yeah and you can still see the impressive art team at play with marathon (in impressed they still managed to keep talented people, seeing how they fired people left and right).

However, is there really a market for extraction shooter these days? The choice of making this kind of game really feel like trend chasing and generaly this doesn't end well...

  • I was extremely active on it until lightfall.

The way they added story "filler", the nonsensical scenario, the fomo/mandatory grind as well as the "you have to pay for everything" finally pushed me over the edge of my rabbid "I need to play" and completionist tendency. It was the last straw.

I'm gland I left because it's when shit started e to hit the fan:

    • they started to make you pay for a lot of thing that was previously included in the expansions (dungeons, raid,...).
    • They started to fire their (highly talented) staff en masse.
    • FOMO was getting out of control indeed.
    • You could feel the greed out of most of the decisions.
    • Vaulting content (why???)

    Shame because

    • it was of the best shooting/power gameplay out there. The art and design was incredibly.
    • The lore was deepd and with a lot of "hidden" link darksoul style (even if it'd be easy to argue it was just obscure and writer had no idea what they were doing)
    • The sci/fantasy mix was working very well and for me is still unique so far.

I might give it a go again, but it'll not be the same without my old clan.

  • Enshittification, also known as crapification and platform decay, is a pattern in which online products and services decline in quality over time. Initially, vendors create high-quality offerings to attract users, then they degrade those offerings to better serve business customers, and finally degrade their services to users and business customers to maximize profits for shareholders.

Yes, we are in the third phase: service to user is free diving in order to increase money to M$ shareholders?

  • What's your advice to replace Office?

I'm trying OnlyOffice with my new cloud provider and... Even the most basic settings (default language for text document) are... Well let's say I still couldn't change it.

  • Hope you'll enjoy the Switch 2! :)

If I were you, I'll be on the lookout regarding Nintendo communication about possible improvements to the joycon drift problem of the Switch 1. Especially since they said they won't be using Hall effect joystick.

I'm back into tears of the kingdom on switch 1 these days and I understand why I dropped the game in the first place: joycon drift can be... simply rage inducing.

  • Excel

  • Damn as somebody with very little coding or IT background whatsoever but had to learn excel on my last 5 year of work, I understood it all.

Especially the cell merging... Spawn of the devil itself...

Still power query is quite addictive, the main reason why moving to OpenOffice is hard.

Choice of Compact Android Smartphone - 2024 edition

    Hello all,

My Galaxy S8 is starting to feel its age. After now close to 7 years of service, it's starting to show its limits. The usual problems: Battery getting weaker and weaker, generally slow (My once/month visit of instagram for example is... a stutter) and, mot simportantly, no more security update.

I'm tempted to switch it to GrapheneOS and continue but I'm really afraid some "official" apps won't work anymore (mostly banking apps).

In October last year I started my quest for a new Android phone with the S8 form factor, or as close as possible for pocket-fit.

I've checked the various guide on this community and came ouf with the same question I had while doing research on my side.

    Contenders were:

    • Fairphone 5, which philosophy was extremely tempting, especially the "fair" aspect and the self-repairing capabilities. However, its form factor and what I heard about extremely slow patch/updates were the last nail in its coffin-size (161.6 x 75.83 x 9.6 mm).
