  • But other accounts show increased black-and-white thinking on issues such Israel’s massacre of Gaza, which has alienated many of his staffers, and an inexplicable show of support for certain Trump administration polices,

Is this finally evidence that brain damage can turn you into a conservative?

  • Good for her! We need more of this.

Conservative influencer Charlie Kirk said Omar “has no class, no gratitude to America, and no honor,” adding that she was “truly a disgrace to the U.S. Congress.”

Oh please, a Trump supporter claiming someone else has no honor and is a disgrace?

“Reminder: Democrats say Donald Trump has lowered the tone of political rhetoric,” conservative pundit Piers Morgan said.

Yeah, no shit. This is what happens when someone in a position like Trump lowers the level of discourse. It's incredible that douche bags like this think that the left should be held to a higher standard than their orange painted sewer pipe.

Mr. Trump has used words that would have once gotten a kid’s mouth washed out with soap at least 140 times in public this year. Counting tamer four-letter words like “damn” and “hell,” he has cursed in public at least 1,787 times in 2024.

  • “When Elon Musk came to the White House asking me for help on all of his many subsidized projects, whether it’s electric cars that don’t drive long enough, driverless cars that crash, or rocketships to nowhere, without which subsidies he’d be worthless...

Seems like that should be a fine place to save some money then. Trump is basically admitting here that we are cutting school lunches, medicaid, and poverty programs while at the same time we are spending billions supporting failing businesses just so Musk can keep getting richer.

  • He can fuck himself to until I see him standing in the streets with us not a podium with a microphone.

Like I said, I get how people feel about billionaires because I feel the same. They should not exist. However, I think Pritker is a good man and is using his wealth to actually do some good. In answer to your request, here are a couple pictures of him on the streets with marchers and protesters. There are more if you want to take the time to look for them.

Just do me one favor. Don't choose to vote for a candidate just because he tells you he it going to work towards noble goals over a candidate who has an honest history of working towards and achieving such goals. Look up Pritzker's history, actions, and accomplishments rather than dismissing him out of hand. I really think that he is our best option now that Bernie seems to be out of the picture.

  • I lived in Illinois when Pritzker first ran against Rauner, a republican billionaire. I was pissed that those were my choices. But I knew how bad Rauner had been. Illinois was in a debt spiral and Rauner had only made it worse. He was the latest in 20 years of incompetent and in some cases criminal leadership for the state. Quinn, the governor before Rauner had averaged one credit downgrade every 181 days. Rauner somehow managed to do worse! He averaged a downgrade every 101 days.. Illinois was literally a step away from junk bond status in 2017 according to Moody's.

I held my nose and voted for Pritzker and his performance has been nothing short of amazing. He turned Illinois around financially. In 2023 Pritzker earned Illinois its ninth credit rating upgrade in two years. Illinois had not had a credit upgrade prior to these since June of 2000!. The state is now in the "A" category again. In 2024, the state was #1 in the nation for workforce development, #2 for corporate investments, and #5 for cost of living.

Aside from his financial wizardry in the state, he has been a progressive leader. He has increased funding for K-12 education and expanded childcare and early childhood education. He has worked to modernize infrastructure including bridges, schools, roads and broadband. He helped ban assault weapons and ghost guns. Passed the Climate and Equitable Jobs act. He was one of the first in the nation to issue a stay at home order during Covid, second only to California. He raised the minimum wage. He abolished cash bail. He banned state funds from libraries that banned any books. He even legalized weed and expunged eight-hundred thousand convictions for weed related crimes. He strengthened Illinois's laws protecting abortion access, and passed legislation creating protections for those who go to Illinois for reproductive care including abortions. He declared Illinois to be ground zero in the abortion fight when he addressed the state general assembly and called for the state to be a safe haven for reproductive rights.

When SCOTUS overturned Roe v. Wade he issued this statement. Here is a highlight from it.

To the right-wing officeholders who today are cheering the Supreme Court's ruling: GET YOUR IRON BOOT OFF WOMEN'S NECKS! Hop off your high horse and know that what you're calling a "celebration of life" today will actually lead to death — the death of women in abusive situations, the death of women whose health is at risk, the death of women and girls who will still seek abortions—ones that are unsafe and performed by unqualified back-alley butchers.

Let me make this explicit and clear to women throughout our state, the Midwest, and our nation: Illinois will be a safe haven for the exercise of your reproductive rights. In Illinois, Roe v. Wade is still the law, and it will remain the law as long as we have a pro-choice legislature and a pro-choice governor. Here, we trust you to make your own decisions about your reproductive health. We will defend your right to bodily autonomy.

In Illinois, we will hold firm to these rights and continue to work with stakeholders - many of whom are standing with me now - to expand them.

To that end, I am informing the General Assembly that I will be calling them into special session in the coming weeks to more firmly protect women's reproductive rights in Illinois and address the challenges posed by this radical Supreme Court decision. I'm grateful to have the support and partnership of House Speaker Emanuel "Chris" Welch and Senate President Don Harmon in this effort. Together, the Democratic leadership in Illinois is committed to taking swift action to further enshrine our commitment to reproductive healthcare.

I want to close by speaking directly to those who have the most at stake in today's decision:

To the single mom juggling four kids and three-part time jobs, Illinois will fight for you. To the teenage CHILD, who endured rape or incest, Illinois will fight for you. To the marginalized and most vulnerable, who are being attacked at every turn by transphobic, or misogynistic or bigoted politicians, Illinois will fight for you. We will NOT turn back the clock. Here in the Land of Lincoln and the home state of Barack Obama, where we were the first to ratify women's suffrage 100 years ago, we will continue the fight for freedom, liberty, and justice for ALL.

I absolutely understand where you're coming from. No one should be a billionaire. They should not exist. But in this one, probably unique case, Pritzker has shown himself to be a good man and has brought Illinois from the brink back to economic stability. Check out what he has accomplished in Illinois since he was elected. If runs and wins in 2028, he could be a powerful force in turning this country around.

  • Last time, Trump just appointed people that were recommended to him and who could get by the Senate. Trump kept having to get rid of them whenever they refused to break the law or violate their code of ethics.

This time he's appointed nothing but people that were already lined up for the positions by Project 2025 based solely on loyalty. Since the Republicans control the senate, they all flew through with flying colors. This batch are happy to break the law for him and they have no ethics.

The only reason this guy is out is that he's an astonoshingly incompetent DUI hire.

  • His slathering hordes are something to be reasonably afraid of. Also, he did nearly manage to overthrow our government and did manage to get himself reelected four years later. He may be more effective that you think.

  • The Democrats in office can't do shit. There are not enough of them. Democrats cannot filibuster the president's appointments because they themselves removed the filibuster rule on appointments below the level of the Supreme Court back in 2013. They could use the filibuster on some bills, but you'd have to get all of the dems to vote in lock-step like the republicans do. Good luck with that considering how many democrats are only democrats in name so they could get elected in their districts and then they vote with the republicans more often than not.

If you want change, you need to convince the republicans in office that they are going to lose their jobs. They do not support Trump because they necessarily agree with him, they do it because, as Murkowski has publicly admitted, they are afraid of him. We voters need to rally, make noise, and make them afraid of us. There are not enough MAGA voters to keep the republicans in office if enough of the rest of us actually show up to vote. We voters need to convince them that they will be out of their cushy jobs if they don't stop this lunatic.

  • Assuming all democrats in the House vote to impeach, it will take 4 republicans joining them to reach the 50% threshold to succeed. That could honestly be doable. The Senate is another story. It would take 20 republicans to vote with all the democrats and independents to reach the 67% needed to convict. Not impossible, but a profoundly uphill battle.

Call your reps, protest, make noise. As long as the republicans think that Trump's hordes will keep them in office for supporting him, they won't cave. If we can convince them that the MAGA loons will not be enough to get them reelected and keep their cushy jobs, they'll flip. They are not loyal to Trump, they are afraid of him.

  • That should say 'another trade war.' He did the same shit last time he was in office as anyone who has better memory that a goldfish should remember. Trump only looked unbeatable on the economy because the billionaires who own all the major, and most of the minor, media outlets wanted him to look that way so they could get more undeserved tax cuts.

  • Do it J.B. I want him to do for this nation what he's done for Illinois. I'm not a fan of billionaires in general, but Pritzker has been absolutely amazing for Illinois. I could not ask for a better candidate.

DOGE staffer who accessed Treasury Department payment systems resigns after racist posts exposed

    To absolutely no one's surprise...

Marko Elez, 25, who worked for a number of companies run by Elon Musk and was part of the billionaire’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) task force engaged in dismantling federal offices, resigned Thursday, a White House official told The Hill.

Elez’s racist, now-deleted social media posts were uncovered and first reported by The Wall Street Journal.

“Normalize Indian hate,” the account associated with Elez posted in September, regarding people of Indian ethnicity who work in the U.S. tech sector, the Journal reported.

“You could not pay me to marry outside of my ethnicity,” the account wrote on Elon Musk’s social media site X, the Journal reported.

HHS has sent out letters terminating all DEI employees and programs. The letter included instructions that the email DEIAtruth@opm.gov was available to report people for non-compliance.

Personally, I am very concerned that radical elements might attempt to flood that email address. That would be a real shame if that were to happen.

Republicans pile on Biden to resign after he quits 2024 race

Fulton County prosecutors filed an emergency request for a protective order in the Georgia election subversion case on Tuesday after recorded statements made by multiple defendants as part of their plea deals were made public.

On Monday, ABC News and The Washington Post published footage of the proffer sessions, which showed the four defendants who pleaded guilty being questioned by prosecutors about their involvement in various efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.

Prosecutors said the footage was turned over to the remaining defendants as part of discovery, urging the court to impose restrictions on how the defendants can disclose the materials.

    Trump breaks yet another law

Last weekend, an auction held at his Florida home saw the item, described as "a one of a kind Trump Glock from the 45th President of the United States Donald J. Trump," go up for bidding during a charity event. Pictures circulating on social media show the gun being presented at the auction, with news website Meidas Touch saying that bidding for the item began at $10,000.

However, the transaction could land the former U.S. president in considerable trouble, given that federal law prohibits those under indictment from transacting firearms. Trump is embroiled in active legal proceedings, having testified at a civil trial over the New York investigation into financial fraud at the Trump Organization. The former president has denied all wrongdoing and repeatedly said that the ongoing federal and civil cases against him are part of a political witch hunt.
