  • Working in healthcare and ngl for physicians it's never a "am I doing too much to treat this patient" question when it comes to arguing for basic things from insurance. One common strategy is dragging out the excessive but cheaper diagnostic and "alternatives" to avoid paying for surgeries that are necessary. That then appeal forms have to be done makes the process even worse. Insurance companies are committing a legalized bureaucratic murder of individuals through the abuse of being more or less given carte blanche by the political body to do whatever the Hell they want. I've seen denial of chemo for individuals in their 20s and others dying young because they do not have the proper coverage for cancer workups (lots of colorectal malignancies that get ignored into a person's 30s that end up metastic).

    So anyway

  • Leave the elephant alone. They can crush you in a multitude of ways when pissed off and guess what all the ones you see giving tourists rides likely have PTSD from chronic abuse and are just waiting for a reason to justifiably rage.

Just discovered Watermelon Gazpacho and I'm a cold soup fanatic now

Anyone that is iffy on cold soups and especially fruit and veggie combos needs to try a basic gazpacho. Half of a watermelon, 3-4 roma tomatoes (or any big and juicy varieties), half a medium red onion, a whole bell pepper, half a large cucumber (persian or english works great), minced garlic, black pepper and paprika to taste, either red wine vinegar or balsamic, a glug of olive oil, add salt to taste. For ease of blitzing do it in stages, watermelon and diced tomatoe into the blender first which yields a lot of liquid, then followed by chopped/diced veggies. Blitz until it's a nice smooth consistency.

Chill this bad boy in the fridge then eat as needed (this is especially great for y'all trying to stay cool during the heat wave). You can also garnish with diced cucumber, tomato and some croutons for added texture.
